Our stay was a brief overnighter travelling between Oslo Torp & Geilo. The old Viking city of Tonsberg appealed to us as an attractive stop off & the Thon appeared to be the best hotel in town. It has a pleasant quayside location, though only a handful of bedrooms benefit from this outlook. The Thon served our purpose well, there is on-site parking (chargeable) & an array of restaurants & bars within close walking proximity. I’d liken it to a Premier Inn in terms of quality & decor. The lobby/reception/dining room are all encompassed within a ground floor open plan space, this area is brightly lit & rather sterile. I don’t think much was spent on interior decor advice! Our bedroom was functional & compact (as expected) & we overlooked the car park from its one small window. But the bed was very comfortable & sound proofing top notch, our little cell a haven of tranquility. The breakfast buffet was varied, tasty & served till a very agreeable 11am. Waiting staff & the reception team were all delightful, with excellent English skills. Overall, this was a good value stay & the hotel hit the spot for a brief overnighter.

It was my second time staying at the Thon hotel in Tønsberg, and I cannot recommend it enough! The rooms are cozy and beautiful, and you’ll find all necessities. The staff is also super lovely. What I love the most and what makes the hotel so special is the amazing breakfast. It’s so delicious it’s not even funny! I dream about it. The mobile check-in is super convenient. Thank you Thon hotel Tønsberg you have my heart!

Honeymoon couple! We were here for a festival in Borre, so we took the bus to/from Tønsberg. Our room was super cute, clean, and cozy. The staff is very nice and helpful. We actually extended our stay for a couple of days, to see more sights in Tønsberg, relax, and we upgraded our room at this hotel! Once again, staff was very helpful doing so!
Added bonus is a daily breakfast buffet, and it is a good spread, unlike some hotels who put out a few donuts, stale pastries and coffee. This property actually had bacon, potatoes, eggs, various breads, yogurts, fruits, and so on.
Overall very pleased and would definitely stay again!

I’ve tried the other hotels and they are well under par on clenliness. If you want a clean room, friendly staff, great breakfast and in the midst of Tønsberg city..this is the hotel for you. Yes, I’m a fan! (And not just because they serve my favorite breakfast: oatmeal)
