Perfect combination of relaxation and adventure in a beautiful place! The food, service, and atmosphere made this a perfect place for our honeymoon. We are nature lovers and there is so much beauty and wildlife here to explore. Would definitely recommend to others and return ourselves.

My husband and I spent a week in Belize - and the first 2 nights were at Copal Tree Lodge. Overall, we had a great experience. Highlights > Good cocktails and farm fresh food. > We stayed in the jungle king and loved the shower and enclosed balcony. > The staff was friendly and helpful - especially Nestor who was the on-site manager who checked in throughout the day to make sure that things were going smoothly. > Very cool set-up with trams that connect you to various levels of the resort. > Unique animal sightings like howler monkeys, agoutis and toucans + numerous other interesting birds. > Very tasty complimentary baked goods served in the lobby. Vanilla scones, chocolate cake, lemon meringue pie. Things that could be improved > The tours that we did didn’t match the price. We paid $45pp for intro to bird watching which mainly took place in the lobby (we did love the guide though!). We also did a 1 hour kayak tour where the guide didn’t point out much at the same price. We’ve done a lot of tours in other destinations and there was definitely a disconnect between the price and what was delivered. After these 2 tours we cancelled the others planned. Despite the tour issues, we would definitely return and overall recommend this place!

The STAFF, the STAFF, the STAFF!!! Extremely accommodating in every way, no detail left unchecked from top to bottom, accommodations were "jungle-luxury"! The extraordinarily fine bedding made for restful sleep with the welcome interruptions by the charming howlers outside our screened deck. The food & beverages are EXCEPTIONAL and we both put on weight in spite of spending every day out on the flats fishing hard with superb guides!! We will definitely return to this outstanding Belizean destination (and will make time for that on-premises gym, ha-ha)!!!

Honestly I really wanted to love this place, the concept is very cool; However reality fell short. The place is very isolated, which I understand is the point, however I would then expect more in terms of entertainment (games in lobby, group offered meet ups, etc). For the king trek from Belize City, my expectations fell short. For the very high cost I was not impressed- when you’re spending upwards of $400/night I expect a lot, not to mention in Belize. We’ve stayed at several other resorts for less and have gotten way more. The staff was friendly enough but again definitely not what I would expect at this price point. The stairs/trams were very cool and unique- kayaking on the river also was very cool. If you’re still considering this place, would actually recommend the jungle suites over the canopy as they have screened in porches (a must for bugs) and were nestled in the trees. The resort food was good, not great, and very expensive once they add all the tax and fees. Overall I recommend other locations for the jungle experience.

We had an amazing 5 nights here. The jungle location and rooms are fantastic. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful and met our every need. The distillery tour was really informative and we enjoyed the all inclusive meals and drinks without having to worry about signing receipts until we checked out. My only complaint is that the food was not as good as I had expected. We loved the breakfasts but lunch and dinners were underwhelming. We had enjoyed fantastic food at our other resorts (Gaia, Ray Caye and Matachica) and were a little disappointed at Copal Tree. Overall, we would return in a heartbeat, though. The only danger in these all-inclusive resorts is the tendency to overeat as it's already paid for. We did not go hungry and probably overindulged on cocktails that were varied and delicious, but we were on vacation and took full advantage of the drinks being included. Copal Tree Resort is also a great place in that it is all farm-to-table produce and nearly carbon neutral, even the rum distillery. We did the rum distillery tour one morning and the Snorkel with the Chef all day trip and went to one of the Mayan ruins sites, Lim Ni Punit. Our guides were phenomenal people and very knowledgeable which helped with our trip enjoyment, too. Otherwise we had a lot of time to relax, hang out by the pool and just chill with our books. We even took a couple hours and used one of the canoes at the river dock and paddled up the Rio Grande river a couple miles. It felt like we were in the middle of the Amazon rainforest. While at Copal Tree we saw and heard a lot of different bird species and especially enjoyed watching the toucans and listening to the unusual call of the Montezuma oropendola more than any others. We could hear howler monkeys in the evenings and saw a small family of of them climbing through the trees near our rooms on a couple days. We were sad for our last day here. We will definitely return some day.

Jungle room was great and the shower view was amazing. Enough food choices that even this picky eater found plenty to eat. Very clean and everyone was pleasant. We did the Rum Distillery tour and Mayan ruins/tiger cave excursion while there. If you like fitness, the gym is great (but just getting there and back on foot will give you cardio). The atmosphere was very relaxing and we would love to return.

We just returned from a wonderful stay at the lodge. We were there for 6 days and the fun began when we arrived and were given a Rum cocktail. The many highlights were as follows. The employees really make the experience top notch and memorable. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. For example, there was a bright light from another room and immediately Petrolina arrived with a more robust curtain and proceeded to change it out. Our room was near the pool and had two beds which we prefer. I ordered a mini fridge and it was already in the room. The room was spacious, overlooked the jungle and had an outdoor porch with a hammock for relaxing. The room coffee was a neat filter pour through experience. The A/C worked perfectly. We went a la carte and that was fine. The restaurant offered superb meals, and we especially enjoyed the dinners. It was my wife's birthday and they put on a splash for her. Recommend Fry jacks for breakfast. The Copal rum which is made there was outstanding in the rum drinks. Certainly recommend the activities. One of the best experiences was the farm tour with Joseph the head gardener. Joseph was knowledgeable and passionate about growing and it was instrumental in putting into perspective the farm to table concept and that was significant for us. The Snorkeling with the chef activity was amazing with attentive hosts Captain Jack, Chi, Bella and Marlon. Make sure there are at least two couples as it is more economical. The kayak tour on the river was very informational too. The river was a testament to the eco sentiment of the resort and Belize in general as it was so clean. Wildlife sightings included many howler monkeys, toucans, iguanas , Coatis and many river birds. We usually do not say we will return to a vacation spot but this experience certainly warrants a return to the beautiful Copal Tree Lodge!

If I could give the service and people at Copal Tree Lodge 100 stars I WOULD!!!!!! I have traveled to different parts of the world and I have NEVER experienced such great SERVICE and have never met people as kind and as genuine as those at this beautiful resort. These wonderful people are detailed oriented and think of EVERYTHING to make your stay and experience nothing below extraordinary. Not only that, but they are also so incredibly personable and it was a pleasure to have their company around me. The food also exceeded our expectations. So fresh and directly from their farm. Nothing we tasted was subpar. We enjoyed every meal and every drink we had there!! The rooms are air-conditioned, CLEAN, have amazing bathrooms (especially the shower) and have really comfortable beds, blankets and pillows! I grew to LOVE the people there especially, Mark, Chi, Captain J, Melvin and Elon!!!!! These wonderful souls really enhanced our experience exponentially. I will never forget them and I already have plans to visit Copal Tree Lodge and cannot wait for it! I HIGHLY recommend staying at the Copal Tree Lodge if you are looking for a place of true and natural beauty, tasty and fresh food, genuine and down-to-earth (yet professional) employees, and adventure!

What an absolutely amazing hidden gem in Belize! Our family had the best experience at the Copal Tree Lodge. The accommodated our every request, fitting in hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, zip-lining, exploring ancient Mayan ruins site, horseback riding, chocolate making and enjoying the most delicious cocktails and meals here. The staff are welcoming, knowledgeable and extremely kind! Whether it was learning more about the history of Belize, their reef and the Mayan culture from Desmond or enjoying a Tim’s special cocktail or Lucky Ducky dinner, Copal covered everything from start to finish!
