I attended a Wake here this afternoon. The food was great, with a big selection of sandwiches, pastries and cakes, and the staff were so attentive, scurrying between the many people there, ensuring that we were all watered and fed. We were pleased to be greeted by a roaring log fire, which cheered us all up.

Very friendly efficient and attentive staff. Great location while visiting the area, and easy to find. We throughly enjoyed the excellent cooked breakfast. Comfortable room, and easily accessible off road parking.

We booked for one nights stay, the room was perfect, comfy , clean and had wonderful views from the window, I informed them on arrival I have coeliac ( this they said was no problem) . After I good quiet nights sleep we went down for breakfast, I had a full English (eggs, bacon ,sausage, mushrooms ,toast and tomato, all gluten free, it was very filling, very good value for money, All of the staff were really helpful and friendly it was a pleasure to visit and we will certainly visit again ,

A charming B&B, run by enthusiastic and entertaining hosts! Nothing was too much bother, they even suggested we order a takeaway, and set up a couple of tables in the breakfast room so we could dine in style! Bed was a little on the small side as not used to a double bed, we have had a superking at home for so long! But it was comfortable and the room charmingly 'quaint'. We were introduced to their "Dandie Dinmont" and pug dogs', funny little things, a delight. Breakfast was really good, service very good, very willing to get anything extra required.

Lovely little quirky hotel. Arrived earlier than planned but the male manager (nick) was very friendly and nothing was to much trouble for him. We said we were popping for a drink somewhere and he pointed us int he direction of a club over the road but said dont use the pub opposite for some reason. On arrival back just before tea nowhere near was serving food but nick booked us a table in taunton and booked us a taxi to get there very nice of him. We had a couple of drinks in hotel while waiting for taxi and we offered to pay there and then but he said no ill put them on tab for when you leave. Rooms are lovely and clean and shower is beautiful. Breakfast was 9am for us as they like to stagger as being short staffed, beautifully cooked breakfast but no baked beans ! And a selection of cereals, fruits an yogurts, With hot drinks and juices. I will point out the lady owner told us not to book through 3rd party and to book direct next time. On leaving we went to pay our bill for drinks £24 for 2 bottles of stella out of a case and 2 vodka lemonades- seems very expensive to us. Nick is a lovely man, didnt really see much of his wife to comment.

Our family visited the hotel for a wake following a funeral. The food was well presented with a good choice of hot and cold food. They also arranged some gluten free options. The service from the staff was excellent and the owner was very helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend.

Aussies passing through Taunton on a whirlwind UK tour. Took pot luck by inquiring at Meryan House as walk-in guest. Found we hit the jackpot! Beautifully furnished and decorated, Grade 2 Listed, centuries old hotel building but with all the luxury conveniences you would want. Owner/Manager Nicholas and his wife Cherry are a very engaging couple who certainly know how to run a discerning and tasteful establishment. The breakfast was absolutely first rate too. We highly recommend this hotel.

We married at Taunton Registry office and then proceeded to the Meryan House Hotel for our wedding reception on Friday 9th June 2023. It was a beautiful hot sunny day, great location, beautiful inside area, outside garden area and plenty of parking, and we can’t recommend it enough. The owner / manager Cherry is amazing and was so helpful the entire way through the day and preparations. Cherrie was the best to work with, she was easy-going and professional from the start, and made us and our whole party feel very welcome. You couldn’t ask for a nicer lady to work with and anyone who has planned a wedding knows you have a LOT of contact with your venue prior to the event. All our expectations were met and then some. The food and drink ‘alcoholic and soft drinks’ were absolutely amazing and all our guests made comment as to how well the day went and how much they enjoyed the food, drink and occasion.

Comfortable dining area, with large Inglenook. Small and Intimate. Please note the restaurant is used by business people Monday to Thursday, who prefer to eat in, and we have found that our weekend guests tend to go into Taunton rather than eat at the hotel. Therefore, please check with the hotel if the restaurant is open, as we may have other functions booked in advance at weekends. We can advise on where to eat if the dining room is booked. The restaurant is closed on Sundays.
