This family-run stay was our favorite guest-house stay. It was very clean, modern, warm and ”homey” with excellent amenities, including a fully stocked kitchen, dining room, TV and hot tub. We were fortunate to share these amenities with other friendly and considerate guests. After arriving we arranged a horseback riding farm tour which was also convenient and very enjoyable. Lovely people, lovely and enjoyable time - highly recommend!

Hestasport cottages are not just a place to stay, it's a whole world of experience. It's a truly magical environment of a few good size traditional wooden cabins nestled on top of a hill above the village with a hot tube in the middle. We rented the biggest one and I highly recommend it for a family especially of you stay for a few days like we did. The cabin was very clean, nicely decorated, high ceilings and full of natural light. We cooked at home every evening and found the kitchen to be very well equipped. Finding the place was very easy. Like they told us, as long as you understand that the reception is not where the cottages are, not a problem at all. Communication with the management was very smooth. We too initially had booked for 2020 but had to cancel due to to covid and they graciously refunded us. Finally we managed to stay and we loved every minute of it. In the area I highly recommend to visit the 1238 The battle of Iceland museum and virtual experience, have a cold one in Retro Mathus in Hofsos, visit the stunning waterfalls of Reykjafoss, Glaumbaer traditional houses etc. We didn't do horse riding but saw a lot of riders and looked like fun. There is also white river rafting nearby. The area is so beautiful, plenty to do and staying in this stunning place is a truly authentic experience.

The breakfast was good. I booked the Triple Room Hotel on the beach next to Highway 1 (no other facilities just for self-driving tour). Free parking is available. Overall recommended and not expensive to stay in the straw hat mountain (Chapel Hill) Peninsula for a good night.
