Hotel Flora

We have mixed feelings about this hotel. There are some things that were great (such as the view from the balcony and the friendly staff). However, we found the location was just a little too far from the Centre of town for people who do not have a car. Other travelers should note that it is a long walk into the main part of town with the restaurants. We were also staying at the hotel at the same time as a bus tour group and that was problematic. The hotel seemed to struggle with the numbers of people for breakfast and, as a consequence, we arrived for breakfast each day only to find all the hot food had gone and there was little sign that it was going to be replaced. We felt that this could have been better managed by the hotel.

One of the best experiences I have ever had with a hotel. As the title says, it's a 3-star hotel, but should be at least 4. I booked a room with a view on the lake. It's been absolutely outstanding: super clean, new, well decorated, with all the amenities and spacious. The staff was very professional and kind. The building itself is pretty new, very clean, and nicely decorated (like a 4+ star hotel). Breakfast was included in the price, and offered food for any taste. Food quality was very high, even for Italian standards. I'd definitely come back to this hotel and I strongly recommend it.

I read some other reviews and really do not understand what people expect ..... This is a small and very reasonably priced hotel. But, yes, it is on o main road and so there is inevitably some traffic noise. So if you can, I would strongly advise booking a lake facing room at the back of the hotel. The staff are excellent, hard working, efficient and helpful. But yes, if you want a beer, you will probably need to ask the receptionist, but she will immediately serve you... We stayed a week and at the end were going to lake Orta for 3 days. The day before we left we decised to hire a car from the car hire ofice a 5 min walk away. As this was shut on a sunday. when we needed to return it and head to the airport from Stresa, Hotel Flora, with minimum fuss and at no charge, kindly allowed us to return the car to their carpark, hand in keys to their reception,,,,, and all this of course, 3 days after we had left the hotel. How helpful is that ? As well as being a 5 minute walk from the ferries, the train station is only a 10 min walk away, So as well as boat trips, we also took the train to Milan for a day and also to Domodossola another day, both of which I would recommend if you are in Stresa for some time. We never ate in the hotel as we enjoyed the 20 minute scenic walk into Stresa centre for dinner of an evening.

Lovely family run hotel conveniently situated on the edge of Stresa just 2 minutes from the Carciano ferry stop. Views from our rear top floor room were magnificent.

Only stated for one night but the hotel left a very positive impression on us, we had a lake view room which, whilst quite small, had an extremely comfortable bed and a large balcony with great views over to the island of Bella. The breakfast experience was very enjoyable, served in the large spacious dining area, with a good selection of produce on offer. Everywhere was spotlessly clean including the pleasant pool area which had plentiful loungers and parasols plus toilet facilities. There is some traffic noise particularly in the outdoor areas, but this didn't spoil our experience. Overall we would happily recommend Hotel Flora for a short stay in Stresa.

Enjoyed our stay, hotel and rooms spotlessly clean with good position by lake and ferries. On the negative side it was so noisy when eating dinner outside in the garden and indeed when by the swimming pool, unavoidable as by a busy road. Also, unfortunately, on several occasions when rain was forecast dinner was served in the dining room which was very hot & airless. No noise within bedroom with windows shut and extremely efficient air conditioning on. Breakfast not very imaginative , dinner ok but not as generous with portions as could be obtained downtown. Staff ok but not overly sociable. Overall found hotel expensive for what was on offer, hence the rating.

A lovely, small hotel with a great pool, good breakfast and very friendly staff. I was disappointed we were facing the hillside but I’m not sure how much of a lake view the other side of the hotel would have because of trees. It is really convenient for the Lido area and boats to the Borromean Islands. It is quite a long walk into the town to the main restaurant area (at least 20 minutes) although it is a beautiful route along the lakefront. The main port to get boats to other places is also quite a walk. It is convenient for the station.

We just returned from a 2 week holiday in Stresa and had a wonderful stay at Hotel Flora. We had a room out to the front, and yes there was some traffic noise but certainly not more than what we were used from where we live so it did not bother us at all. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean - in fact spotlessly clean every day ! There was a small fridge in the room which was great to store some soft drinks and beers as it was over 30C every day. The pool was great too, never too busy and again very clean and certainly a welcome sight after a day's exploring Lago Maggiore and to cool down before dinner. The food in the hotel was excellent too ! Breakfast was a good choice of different cereals, muesli, fresh fruit and yoghurts. Plenty of jams, marmalades and even your own honeycomb. The buffet also provided lots of fantastic Italian salamis, hams, various cheeses and yes, lots of cakes and pastries as this is Italy and Italians like sweet things. I was tempted more than once by the lovely crossaints ! Dinner was equally good ! A cold starter, then a pasta/risotto/soup choice , followed by a meat dish and always a fish dish and a vegetarian option. Topped of with dessert ! Drinks prices were very reasonable too. However, leaving the best for last - the staff ! Always friendly, always cheerful, making you feel very welcome and safe . I felt quite sad saying goodbye at the end of our holiday. We had an early morning pick up back to the airport and we even got a breakfast bag with sandwiches, fruit, juice and a crossaint ! The walk into town is approximately 20 mins but we always enjoyed the evening stroll after dinner along the promenade. Plenty of bars along the promenade for a rest or sn aperitivo.

Hotel is 20 mins walk from the centre. Extremely clean infact immaculate. Room we were in was very tired and old fashioned. Pool area is full of ants, no drink or food service around the pool you have to go inside and order anything you wanted but was hard work as there were never any staff to be seen except on reception. Staff weren't friendly at all. They were extremely miserable. It's the strangest Hotel I've ever been to. There were just no staff anywhere to serve you anything. Breakfast was awful unless you like cakes and pastries every day. Also you have to sit on the same table. Didn't replace empty dishes. Very disappointed.
