AI Summary
An AI-summarised snapshot of real guest reviews
The staff is praised for being friendly and helpful, with easy check-in and local advice. Located near Stirling Castle and eateries, it's affordable and convenient for budget-conscious guests. However, the breakfast is disappointing with limited variety and no hot beverages.

Stirling Youth Hostel isn't anything fancy, but it's got everything you need in a hostel. It's perfect for Backpackers. It's in a perfect location for Stirling less than 10 minutes away from the bus & train station, next to the old jail, a couple of minutes down the hill from the castle and 5 minutes from the main shops. I found it so handy to pop back in during the day for cups of tea. The staff are all really freindly. It's clean and I felt very safe. The lockers are a decent size - bring your own lock. I got an amazing view from my dorm room. There's kitchen facilities with free tea and coffee. It's 2 minutes away from wetherspoons if you want cheap food and can't be bothered with cooking.

Hamish and his team are fantastic with looking after their guests We had separate rooms with ensuite which were great for our needs - both in our 60’s The location is fantastic, very close to Castle and eateries plus so much more Highly recommend

The real star of this hostel is its location right in the thick of the old town . It is situated next to the Old Town gaol which is where the tourist information centre is . The castle is just up the hill along the cobbled street. You need your keycard to gain entry to the corridors and your rooms. The accomodation is on two levels and this is quite a climb not to mention the walk up the hill. My room was compact ,4 bunkbeds with ensuite shower and toilet ,however the floor boards creak and are very noisy so early mornings and late nights disturb everyone . The staff are friendly and are good at providing information . Just down the street is a Wetherspoons pub (The Crossed peels) which has good for food and beer good value for money. There are other bars that looked good but i did not have the opportunity to try. There is also a VUE cinema over the footbridge at the railway station . During my stay the UCI World cycling championship was taking place and the streets were closed on and off for most of my stay so to avoid being trapped in the car park on my day of departure to Pitlochry i had to park at Springkerse park and ride for 3 nights which is over a mile away. Parking at the hostel is limited anyway to about 8 spaces.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this hostel! We arrived in Stirling well before check-in, but were allowed to leave our bags until we checked-in. The desk staff were kind, helpful and friendly. We stayed in a double ensuite and found the room to be very clean. We did find the shower a bit intense - but the strong water pressure was nice after a long train ride and carrying a large backpack (mostly) uphill from the train station, though some water did splash onto the floor. The shared spaces were also clean and well organized. The hostel was very conveniently located and we were able to walk to Holyrood Abbey, Stirling Castle, Stirling Distillery and a Tesco Superstore. We would absolutely recommend this hostel to other travellers.

Very nice location if you love classic Scottisch architecture. I loved the view on the cemetery, very spooky. Double room was moderately clean...for example shower carpet had yellow stains. Bed sheets were already on, but we had to take own towels from downstairs. Bed was comfy and super view. There is also a small table with chairs in the room. The biggest no was the shower, the whole room was full of water after taking a shower and also the shower curtain...not very modern and not hygienic. The door to the toilet was also broken as if someone had kicked it in. Unfortunately we could not do the check in strictly before 16 although we arrived earlier and alhtough we had a private room. We did not have breakfast but I checked the common kitchen and rooms and looked fine very cosy. Personnel was also nice and friendly. Position of the hostel is great just below the castle and very close to the city center. All in all is was a nice hostel experience!!

I stayed in a individual room and not a dorm. This is like a college style dorm but the individual room was great. Quiet location, The location was great and you could walk to everything. Amazing parking directing out front (only 5 spaces) and amazing historic setting. Front desk staff wonderful good WiFi. Good hot water. Wonderful common area with nice kitchen area. Tiny little sink and weird pressure. Again what a great location. I would return again .

Positives: A lovely old Church building renovated with interesting industrial staircases. Beautiful windows and views. The location is phenomenal, right next to the castle, old prisons, art centre and restaurants. Check out the viewing deck at the Tollbooth centre opposite & recommend the ghost tour next door. We got there early and had no trouble parking. Facilities were basic but clean enough. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Negatives: I did whack my head on the shelf on the head board - can these be repositioned? We shared the floor with an excited teenage rugby team & it was noisy but obviously not the hostels fault and just a little unlucky. Think they had a good time too.
