Hotel Somadevi Angkor Resort & Spa

This is an older five-star hotel. Our family of four stayed in connecting rooms, which were very spacious, located in a separate building behind the pool. We were the only guests checking in at that time, so it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The hotel front desk staff and other employees were all smiling and greeted us proactively. The bathroom was very large, featuring both a bathtub and a standing shower. Because the hotel has a lot of greenery, we occasionally saw small ants in the bathroom, but overall, the cleanliness was excellent. Every day when we returned, the beds were neatly made. The only minor issue was the lack of a clothesline for drying laundry. Luckily, I brought my own, otherwise, our sweat-soaked clothes from Siem Reap would have had no way to dry. The water quality visually appeared cleaner than in Pattaya. Breakfast was just okay, not many options, and the Khmer flavors were milder compared to Thai cuisine. The rice noodles, however, were more to our liking. Overall, as long as you don't expect a free lunch, Siem Reap is safe, and the people are kind, simple, and eager for tourism to boost their income.

The room door didn't close properly as it was a bit stiff. I can't comment on the breakfast as I booked a room-only plan, but the restaurant and pool seemed clean.

I can highly recommend this hotel. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and some even speak a little Chinese. Booking a room with breakfast included is a great deal, and the breakfast spread is fantastic. The hotel also has a swimming pool and offers a free 10-minute foot massage. Its central location feels very safe.

The room was spacious and clean, but strangely, large bugs would appear out of nowhere. The shower water temperature fluctuated between cold and scalding hot. Breakfast was plentiful, with freshly cooked noodles and freshly fried eggs. The location is convenient, with several motorbike rental shops nearby.
