Mercure Shrewsbury Albrighton Hall Hotel & Spa

The receptionist were incredibly helpful when booking a room last minute. The room was large and the bed even more so. The food for dinner and breakfast was very enjoyable. Spa facilities were very good. It was just my 9 month old baby and I. It was a bit confusing getting from room to restaurant, or room to spa. I think the signage could be made clearer - especially if I was avoiding going outside to access the spa. There wasn’t any support offered to me for carrying things, in terms of balancing bags and baby.

I left this review on Google: We booked for two nights as we wanted to visit Shrewsbury. For this, it's very conveniently located and the spa/pool facilities were a bonus on top. The pool was lovely, clean. All the staff were friendly enough too, especially the guy on leisure centre reception. We had an issue on the first night and didn't have any hot water in our room. After reporting it I had to ring reception a couple of times to find out what was going on, we were informed they'd called an engineer and it would "hopefully be working by midnight". No offer of a change of room. Water was however working by the morning. Next day we got back to find our TV wasn't working properly. I was advised by reception to turn it off and turn it on again at the wall, which unsurprisingly didn't fix the signal issue. Reception agreed to change our room. It might sound petty, but a TV is included in the room and when you've managed a couple of nights away child-free it's the little things you want to enjoy! No offer of anything else to make up for the inconveniences. Maybe I'm just being spoilt but with that many hotels around it wouldn't make me choose Mercure in a hurry. Shame, as it's a lovely clean hotel let down by poor management.

Very much enjoyed the pool and gym while I was staying. I also had a lake view which was lovely. Spacious room and the staff were lovely.

Room was ok, dinner was poorly served waited 50 mins for a starter and curry to all come at same time even though it wasn't even busy. Chicken in curry wasn't the best either. Didn't bother with breakfast after such a crap performance with evening meal. Don't think its one ill be coming back to.

Check in was with a friendly, approachable member of staff who provided all the information needed for our stay. The room was clean and comfortable although being an older building, did have rather creaky floorboards

We had a spacious comfortable room. Quiet and relaxing. It was cleaned daily. The staff were friendly and helpful. The gym was well equipped, and the steam and sauna were delightful, not to mention the pool. Easy parking and 15 min drive away from the town centre.

Nice hotel grounds. Good amenities. Friendly staff; I dropped my vibrator & it rolled under the receptionists desk, but she was very understanding.

Didn’t feel like much of a spa. Hot tub was out of order and spa showers smelt bad and area felt dirty. Food took over 1.5 hour to arrive after ordering and wine after food. Food was very average, small portions of dry meat and cost £20 for a this. Staff were polite and apologised for the delay. Felt that the wine should have been taken off the bill as I’d mostly finished my food by the time it arrived. Prepare your expectations and don’t get excited about the “spa”.
