There wasn't much need for service with a one night stay but, it looked as though if needed, it was there. Location was OK if the canal side bars were accessible through the rear of the lobby but it was locked so had to turn a 2min walk into a 10min walk but not the end of the world. There were hairs in the bath and some rubbish in the corner of the room but other than that, all was fine. Loved they had an iron and ironing board but the cover was a little grotty. Overall, I'd stay again.

I am Benny Mok(the register name is WAI-FU MOK), spent three days there at ROOM 211 from 31/7/2022 to 2/8/2022 in summer & I found that all the facilities in the hotel were superb & I was highly satisfied. The only shortcoming was there was a long weird sound when flushing at the bathroom. There might be some problems in the toilet bowl hose.
Otherwise than that, I highly recommend this hotel cuz all the staff members at the hotel ARE SUPER FRIENDLY, welcoming, cheerful, caring including the housekeeping ladies !
Last but not least, the receptionist ~KARRA RIPPON. karra was the most patient, helpful, amicable , devoted, loving, thoughtful & caring staff member over there & there is no doubt about that! Would you mind sharing this inspiring message with this excellent receptionist and tell her that the inspiring message was from a HONG KONG IMMIGRANT FAMILY ? Many thanks & I owe you one!

Staff were friendly and the room was tidy. The duvet was tiny and not suitable for two people to share. The pillows were flat and not supportive even if you’re by yourself and could use two. There’s no way to store your clothes if you’re there for more than a day.

Overall, it was pretty good, except that the service staff was startled when I passed by, which also shocked me. They obviously lacked business skills. The breakfast staff always took away my unfinished food when I came to pick it up again. well.

The hotel is in a perfect location. The rooms are fairly basic but better than many other hotels in the UK (although that isn't saying much). The building itself is rather nice. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and the hotel itself feels safe and pleasant. However, the rooms are small, in particular, the showers are small... I have friends who would genuinely be unable to squeeze through the small door to enter the shower cubicle.

Robin, on the reception desk, was very professional and friendly and gave me a very warm welcome and a great first impression.
The hotel, being directly attached to the Winter Garden, has a great central location and is less than ten minutes by foot to the train station (which is all wheelchair and suitcase accessible).
All the breakfast staff were also attentive and helpful even early in the morning.

SSean DavidA very friendly welcome from the staff on reception, very efficient check in. The hotel is in a pretty good location for exploring central Sheffield. Rooms are basic and the hotel a little dated but that is expected at this price point. Rooms are clean and comfortable enough for a short stay.
GGuest UserI have used Doubletree Hilton in USA and this is much the same, including the cookie.
Hotel was pleasant enough for what it was. Comfortable bed and warm room. The shower wasn’t very hot but acceptable.
Breakfast was good but I thought £15 per night for car park a bit steep. Being next to the Sheffield United football ground I could understand the need to ration parking but this wasn’t a match day and there is not much close to attract drivers who might use the parking available.
LLauraThe staff were efficient and pleasant. The room was clean and warm and just what you needed for an overnight stay for work. I liked that there was a shower cubicle in the bathroom. The bed linens were very crisp, clean and fresh. Perfect for a stay in the city centre with large supermarkets opposite. There is a handy cafe downstairs for drinks, cakes or sandwiches.
TTelekJonas Hotel is in between a beautiful scenery area . The staff all are extremely polite and helpful to any need. The room is comfortable with a large bathroom and luggage area. The wifi connection is fast and the rate is perfect for all these amenities. They do not have breakfast service so they don’t charge breakfast however still they offer free coffee , tea and pastry in the morning . Perfect.
MMengskyI wouldn't consider this a good stay, as I encountered several issues. First, the check-in process was a hassle since this hotel doesn't have a front desk. I spent hours calling the hotel, facing either ”Line busy” or no response after a long wait. If it wasn’t for Trip.com's customer service finally connecting with the hotel, I wouldn’t have known what to do. Second, the wooden door in my room was difficult to close; it required a hard push and made a loud ”bang.” The glass sliding door of the shower room was also problematic, it fell out on my first pull, and I'm certainly not strong enough to break a door with just one pull. Lastly, and most frustratingly, was the toilet paper situation. It was my first time encountering a toilet without a single roll of paper. I can't imagine what I would be if I hadn't brought my own in my bag that day. On a positive note, the room was well-equipped with a fridge, oven, heater, toaster, and even an iron, which suggests the hotel might have been quite good when the things are all good a few years ago, but not now.
GGuest UserWe were issued keys that failed to open the door forcing us to make our way back to the front office. Our room, by the way was last on a long corridor on the upper floor of an extended wing if you can picture that. We booked (and paid for) a room for three but upon entering, the extra bed was not made up. Tried to call every number on the house phone but none was answered which meant another long walk to the front office, again.
When we found the drain in the shower clogged I was hesitant to complaint to avoid further disappointment but I did anyhow and true enough - nothing was done.
I must admit the hotel had one of the widest selection of tea and coffee (and chocolate drink mix) I've seen in a hotel room. I appreciated the coffee but unfortunately, restocking was only done once throughout our 4 night stay. I wonder if this was to be expected.
Double Tree is a respectable brand (at least in my part of the world) but I don't understand what could have gone so wrong with this one.
TTelekThe Rutland Hotel is conveniently located near to the University of Sheffield. Single rooms are not the best however double room are quite nice having a traditional feeling. However both kind of rooms are newly decorated so the rooms and bathrooms are quite nice. The breakfast is good as they prepare made to order eggs, hash browns, mushrooms and tomatos. Overall I like it and will plan to stay again.
JJohn SalinskyThe Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful as far as they could be. On the first day of our stay ( Christmas Day) there were parties going on and we had to go up several flights of stairs to get to the breakfast buffet. Everything was a little hard to find but the food was good when available. The ample grounds were an additional attraction as were the huge trees in the spacious garden.
On Christmas Day there were lots of staff looking after the various parties. On the last day, however, ther was only one poor unfortunate waiter in attendance! He did his best but it was impossible for him to keep the buffet food items fully refreshed. He had to do this as well as clearing plates etc from tables. We thought that the lack of any other waiting staff was due to the unavailability of staff from the European Union.
The bedroom facilities needed repairs which were unattended to. In particular, the control knob of the central heating radiator had fallen off and could not be replaced. The radiator was on night and day and also made an irritating noise through most of the night.
We stayed three nights in the hotel from 24th to 27th December 2023.
IN summary, we thought that the hotel could be restored to it's original splendour but would need a substantial investment to improve its standard.
The once magnificent hotel seemed sadly neglected because of lack of investment.
Otherwise the room was satisfactory. But sleep was difficult until we got more used to the noise at night.
In summary, we thought that the hotel needed a lot of money spending on it to improve the facilities and make dure there were enough staff.
GGuest UserThere are free breakfasts like bread or cereal. You can use the kitchen to cook simple meal. The location is near tram station but located uphill. If you bring big baggage be careful of the slope. Rooms are basically clean but the shared facilities are used by all the guests. You can't expect they are always clean. Hosts are friendly that would help you when you need.
IIt’s Me AntoVery close to the town centre. The lack of parking is not really up to the hotel since it’s down to the location, however. I would have liked some sort of parking discount to nearby parking spaces.
Good breakfast with a wide range despite being a “Budget” hotel. I was quite happy to see that.
