A hotel recommended by a friend in Shanghai, and it exceeded my expectations. From the bellhops to the front desk staff and housekeeping, everyone was proactive and enthusiastic. The room was very new, the bed was super comfortable, and all the details were well thought out. The bathroom even had a retractable clothesline, which was really convenient for drying delicates. There were also plenty of mirrors – handy when you needed one, but not intrusive when you didn't. The hotel garden was beautiful, and there's a bus stop right outside. Plus, it's quite close to Hongqiao Airport. I'll definitely be staying here again next time.

The hotel's location is excellent, within walking distance of Xujiahui Park, making it perfect for families with children. There's also a beautiful, quiet little garden within the hotel grounds. As an established hotel, the overall service level is still very good. The concierge staff were incredibly warm and helpful, bringing us our takeout since it was inconvenient for us to go out with a sleeping child. The hotel thoughtfully prepared and set up a crib in advance, but unfortunately, the sheets had stains, indicating a lapse in hygiene details.

The Hengshan Garden Hotel boasts an excellent location with convenient transport links, a beautiful environment, and attentive service – truly outstanding. Our room, 2020, offered a expansive view and was very quiet at night. The temperature reminder and little biscuits provided a wonderfully warm experience! Thumbs up! 👍

Brought my foreign friends here to stay, and it was a wonderfully comfortable experience. The hotel has an old-school luxury vibe, full of character. The environment is very pleasant, and parking is free. The service and facilities are comprehensive. The gym is excellent, and there's also a billiard room, a tennis court, and the sauna and hot spring rooms were the most delightful surprise! So relaxing! It was great to have a sauna after a run. Turndown service before bed included complimentary cookies. It was lovely strolling around Hengshan Road during the plum rain season. There are also many great restaurants and cafes nearby, and I'm thankful for the help from the front desk.

This was my second stay here, and it was just as great as the first. The room was spacious and clean, and the hotel's location near the subway exit makes getting around incredibly convenient. The service was attentive, and the hotel is situated in Shanghai's beautiful French Concession area, right next to the lovely Hengshan Park. The surroundings are gorgeous, and the price is reasonable. Highly recommend!

The hotel's location is excellent, with beautiful surroundings, lush greenery, and it's quite close to Hongqiao Airport. You can get there quickly by taxi or by taking Metro Line 10. The concierge at the entrance and the housekeeping staff are all very nice. I'd love to come back again if I have the chance!

Although a bit dated, the room was spacious, the windows could be opened, and it was very clean. The shower had great water pressure, which was a plus. The dryer was a real bonus; it could fit several items of clothing. The service was polite and just right—not overly enthusiastic nor cold, which I really appreciated. The surrounding area is great for exploring; there's a small park at almost every intersection, and convenience stores and the subway are close by. I had some delicious sea urchin and sweet shrimp rice nearby, and a great Japanese solo dining spot too (I'll share photos!). There's also good coffee nearby, and I even bought a beautiful silver ring. Back to the hotel, they provided extra-large umbrellas when it poured. After the rain stopped, I tried some of the hotel's pastries, which were just okay, but sitting by the window with a view was a nice bonus.

I only took pictures of the hotel's garden. The public areas and service were alright. But what I absolutely couldn't stand was the serious drainage problem in the bathroom's bathtub! I stayed for two separate visits, a total of three nights, and it was the same in both rooms. Every time, the drain would clog up in less than 5 minutes of showering. The front desk sent someone to fix it, but even after it was supposedly fixed, there was no improvement that very night! It's truly frustrating that a five-star hotel in such a great location can't even get basic shower drainage right.

The location is excellent, nestled in the historic Hengfu district, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the hustle and bustle. The International Protestant Church is just to the front left, Xujiahui Park is diagonally opposite, and the EMI building, where the national anthem was first recorded, is right here. The executive floor facilities are a bit dated, but generally well-maintained. Dining is convenient with a Chinese restaurant, buffet, Shanghainese dim sum, and self-service afternoon tea available within the hotel – no need to venture out for food if you're not planning to visit attractions. The hotel also boasts extensive gardens and green spaces. The neighboring VIP building has a very stylish decor, and on the 8th floor, there's a 'Modern Pictures' postcard art exhibition worth visiting.

★★☆☆☆ Unfortunately, our stay did not meet the expectations we have for a five-star hotel. One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was the swimming pool, which turned out to be closed during our stay. While we appreciated receiving a complimentary suite upgrade as compensation, the suite was located on a floor where construction work was taking place. The noise was extremely loud and made it nearly impossible to rest or sleep. As a result, we had to change rooms, which took several hours and significantly disrupted our stay. The replacement room was quieter, but considerably smaller than the suite we had originally been given. The hotel staff did offer alternative rooms, but some of these were located on smoking floors, which was not an acceptable option for us. While the staff tried to find solutions, the overall experience was disappointing. The closure of the pool, the construction noise, the room change, and the loss of valuable vacation time greatly affected our stay. We left feeling that the hotel did not deliver the level of comfort and quality expected from a five-star property. Unfortunately, we would not choose to stay here again

Whenever I return to China, I always stay at the Hengshan Garden Hotel (Executive Building) for a few days. This year, I stayed for nearly ten days around the May Day holiday, and I was absolutely delighted with the room cleaning service – a perfect score! The front desk staff were professional and dedicated – another perfect score! The welcoming service was warm and polite, making me feel right at home – a perfect score! The hotel's Chinese garden in the backyard is spacious and grand, with winding paths, combining openness with secluded beauty – a perfect 100!

The hotel is located in the Hengfu Historic and Cultural Area, boasting a charming and elegant surrounding environment. The large garden is unique and perfect for a stroll or taking photos. The lobby is spacious and bright, and the rooms are clean and tidy with all basic facilities in good working order. Overall, the service is good.

This hotel offers great value for money. It's nestled in a quiet spot yet conveniently located for getting around. The hotel environment is comfortable, with a large green space outside, complete with a pond, a pavilion, and surrounded by lush greenery. I was assigned a corner room, which was quite spacious. Overall, I'm very satisfied.

Fantastic location, right in an upscale old Shanghai residential area. The hotel facilities are superb and luxurious, especially the sports amenities like the swimming pool and tennis courts. However, the service falls short. The staff lack enthusiasm and are quite indifferent, with a 'can't be bothered' attitude. It's like they just say 'no' and that's the end of it. 😂
