Xenones Filotera

Wonderful hotel with breathtaking views over the sea. Our room was on the lower floor underneath the swimming pool but was well equipped with a hot tub outside next to the front door. Breakfast was always very good with plenty of variety. Daytime menu was very good including lovely fresh salads and pizza. Evening meals were hit and miss, some nights very good and others the quality and availability of certain items were disappointing. Finally the bed in our room was mounted on a concrete plinth which made jumping in and out of it slightly hazardous as we are not as agile as we once were.

We stayed in room 119 which is a suite with a balcony looking east over the sea so you get to see the sun rise if up early enough. The rooms are large and perfectly clean with maid service every day and clean towels etc. The hotel is situared at the highest point and as the island is narrow, you get sea views from anywhere you are. It is up from the road and so unoverlooked. Being about 1.5km from the local town also ensures a quiet location but still easy access to the shops and resturants. The main area of the hotel faces west so you get a fantastic view of the sunset. Eating breakfast looking out over the sea towards the other islands was fantastic. The pool and sun bed area in in full sun all day so wherevever you choose to sit or lay, you have sun. Breakfast had a wide choice of freshly prepared food. Meals at the resturant are servered all day and again all freshly preaped. We sampled both the daytime and evening menus and both were excelent. Although the hotel was brilliant, what made it exceptional was the staff. They are very friendly, helpful and efficient and nothing was too much trouble. They remembered your room number, your coffee preferances etc. and started preparing your coffee as soon as you were seen arriving for breakfast. The concierge was brilliant givinge details of the hotel facilities, and the surrounding area on arrival. Plus, explaining the geology of the area. He also adised on which ATM's to use (as some have heft charges and low exchange rates). He arranged a private tour through a company that taylors the trip to your exact requirements. This was excellent with a very knoledggable tour/driver. Chatting to the staff, they said that they all get on well and feel like one big family. They make the guests feel like they are part of that too. The local town of Imerovigli has good resturants and shops and is easily reach by foot along the hiking trail. We walked to the capital Fira too which takes about an hour each way. We also walked the trail to Oia (and back!!). That was quite a walk. In total we walked 13 miles that day and my Fitbit watch stated I had climbed the equivilent of 180 flights of stairs. Some of the ground is gravel and not sutable for all. Sturdy shoes and plenty of water would be my advice, or take a bus/taxi. All in all, a brilliant hotel and quiet location and would highly recomend to anyone. I would like to thsnk the staff as they made the stay perfect.

We've recently returned from a fabulous stay at this hotel. The views are absolutely stunning and the accommodation was excellent. It makes an excellent base to visit places like Oia or Fira with both being walkable although walking to Oia would be challenging without a good level of fitness. Plenty of places to eat in Imerovigli (the 4 seasons is worth a visit) although the hotel restaurant is excellent as well (dined there three times) Finally all of the above would be irrelevant without the people. All of the staff were extremely welcoming, from the reception, to the restaurant, to the breakfast area and the poolside bar, and nothing was ever too much trouble - they are all a credit to the hotel. Given this we would certainly not hesitate to return.

Approximately equidistant from Fira and Oia with fantastic views of the Caldera/sea. The personal hot tub was a nice touch, as well as the patio and bistro table where we enjoyed the view with a few glasses of complimentary wine. The pool area had a shaded area near the bar where we also enjoyed Greek pizza, wine, and the sea view. Outstanding hotel and staff.

We stayed for 7 nights. The view was incredible and beautiful for watching the sunset in the evenings. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful, especially the guy on reception in the evenings! Breakfast was great, a lot of choice. Pool bar menu and evening menu were both fairly priced and good food! The hotel is in a good location to hike into Fira and Oia, but I’d recommend taking some suitable shoes for this! Our room was upgraded and was one of the most beautiful rooms we’ve stayed in! I’d recommend staying at this hotel and would love to come back one day!

We were rescued from a thunderstorm mid-hike between Fira and Oia, when the staff from Xenones Filotera kindly allowed us to shelter in a hotel room, complete with a hair dryer to make ourselves a bit less soaked! We’re grateful for their generosity and hospitality in bending the hotel rules to let us wait out the storm. Also — the hotel itself is modern and beautiful, and has breathtaking views of the caldera. Thank you!

The staff at the hotel are the friendliest I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. They could not do enough to make our stay the best it could be. Breakfast was excellent, a great choice too cater for all tastes from fruit, muesli, a fried breakfast, pancakes, croissants, Greek yogurt, tea/coffee and fresh juice. It's a small hotel, very peaceful/relaxing and the view from the pool area is breath taking. The hotel is situated perfectly for the sunsets while sipping a cocktail.

A wonderful stay in a beautiful small but hotel made perfect by the wonderful staff. We will always remember sunrise shared with Panos, breakfast served with a smile and such care each day by Irini and Drillos, being rescued and guided by the wonderful Maria and George’s lovely smile when serving drinks and food….not forgetting the very hard working and friendly housekeeping staff who kept our room spotless The views across the Caldera were breathtaking Everything was perfect

This hotel was absolutely amazing. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The staff was attentive, remembers our names, and provided service 24/7. Breakfast was included and was delicious. The pool was great and the view was even better. The only thing about this hotel is the location is not close to much of the sights however, the hotel staff was very accommodating organizing transportation for my party. 10/10 would stay here again.
