A shower is not simply a shower for me. A shower is a way of acclimating myself to the lucidity required to engage in everyday life. It is a way to mentally and physically prepare myself for whatever may lie ahead for me for the day. It's a routine that borders on a spiritual ritual to allow myself to function in the world at my maximum potential.
I am not exaggerating, then, when I say my shower at The Inn and Spa at Loretto was one of the most uncomfortable experiences in my life.
I awoke early in the morning in eager anticipation to enjoy everything Santa Fe has to offer, and as I watched the sun rise over the Sangre de Christo Mountains, marveling at the beauty of the New Mexico sunrise. All that was left for me was to take my shower and prepare for the day. Nothing could have prepared me for what happened next.
I stepped into the bathroom and made my way over to the shower, and turned the knob as I always would to roughly halfway to initiate the process. As I anxiously waited to begin my shower routine, the bathroom quickly filled with steam. After the cool morning air this felt nice at first, but of course I didn't want to scald myself! I turned the faucet back towards the cool side as I stepped into the shower, expecting that I understood where I would reach a ”warm” temperature. Within seconds I was blasted with ice cold water as if straight from a glacier. Pain shot up my spine to my neck as the icy water rained upon me, and I reflexively turned the knob back towards the hot side, thinking I surely had found the ”happy medium”. Within moments I was engulfed in red hot water that felt as if it had just been boiled in a tea pot across my face and neck, stunning me yet again. Frustrated, I moved the shower head directly to the floor, spraying my feet with the same steaming water. I then carefully moved the faucet, one centimeter at a time towards the cold side, gauging the point at which the water would begin to cool. Amazingly, there was no change. After 10 or so careful movements of the knob, the water began to cool, to my great relief. However, within moments the ice cold water returned, once again sending shivers up my spine. After more experimentation and constant discomfort, it became clear that there were only two options for this shower: burning hot or ice cold. The rest of my shower was spent doing a horrible dance of moving between excessively hot and cold water, moving my body out of the water frequently to minimize the pain. I ultimately managed to do the bare minimum necessary to get myself clean, with the chance of a relaxing and revitalizing experience clearly being out of the question.
This is not how I would want anyone to start their day, and I feel this should be unacceptable for a hotel with the stature and reputation of The Inn and Spa at Loretto. While the rest of my experience there was quite nice, this shower left me with an awful feeling for much of my day. I hope they are able to ensure that future guests do not have to go through an experience like this.

Not very many things in hotel were open due to COVID-19. Maids did service rooms daily which surprised me. We have stayed at other hotels recently and maids did not tidy the rooms during our whole stay.

I booked a suite with two double beds, and since I was planning to walk all day, I emailed the hotel directly to make sure I would be able to get a room with a bathtub to relieve my fatigue, but unfortunately, because a group of guests had arrived on the day, I ended up with a room with only a shower during my stay, which was disappointing. There was also no coffee maker in the room, so I had to go to the bar area near the front desk to get one until 11am, which was inconvenient. It was a short distance from the room, but when I had no choice but to get dressed and go to get a coffee, I happened to see a person wearing only a bathrobe with the front open, with their legs open and barefoot, which taught me that I don't need to be so careful. I was in a hurry to look away, so I don't know if the person was a man or a woman.
It was convenient that you could request a free shuttle bus (only a tip) anywhere within the map of Santa Fe center (you can get a map) from around 9 or 10am until 10pm.
When you leave the hotel, tell the front desk and wait at the entrance, and a very friendly driver will come to you in about 1-5 minutes. Also, to pick up from outside to the hotel, you need to call the front desk and tell them the location. This time, I couldn't use the phone in the United States, so I used Uber taxi every time I went back, but I had no problem using Uber taxi in Santa Fe. It's okay to walk to the center during the day, but it seems better to avoid walking after dark for safety reasons. Tomasita's restaurant, which is just a few minutes walk away, served very delicious southwestern food. Also, if you leave the hotel door and go around the parking area, you'll find the Saturday morning Farmers Market right outside the back door. There is also an area (indoors and outdoors) adjacent to the Farmers Market where you can buy souvenirs such as accessories and tile art directly from local producers, which was fun.
At night, you can enjoy live music in the restaurant area with a fireplace. The Native American flute performance was very fantastic and wonderful.
The room has a high ceiling and is spacious, but there is no door on the sink, so it's a bit hesitant to use the hair dryer when someone is sleeping. The bed was high, so Japanese people had to climb up on it and couldn't sit down, but it was very comfortable.

Although being old it has been reasonably updated.
There isn't much near to the hotel, but it's easy access to a main avenue.
When I checked in I was rushed through the process like if there was lots of people behind me... but no just me so I'm not sure why the front desk was in such a hurry. Also I wanted to use the safe at the front desk but they didn't have the 2nd key so the put my valuables in the managers office, so not quite the same as next day it was a bit hectic as the staff was figuring where were my valuables. In the end all worked out.

Outstanding
GGuest UserFrom Los Angeles to Albuquerque by plane, rent a car at the airport to Santa Fe. I found this when I was looking for a hotel in Santa Fe. I liked the cute interior in the atmosphere that was unique, and the word of mouth was great, so I decided to stay here. When I went, the owner's grandfather also knew Japan and talked about Japanese food and warmed my heart. The bath is equipped with shampoo, conditioner and body soap, and also has a refrigerator and microwave. There was no water, but you can get ice at any time! The trip to Santa Fe was all nice and I'm glad I chose this hotel. I went to the restaurant next door for lunch and dinner. Mexican food and steak were delicious too!
It is about 10 minutes drive from the tourist spot in Santa Fe. If you have a car rental, you can afford it!
ZZHUORUVery good Spanish-style home hotel, all kinds of good, very good tone, 5 minutes walk from Santa Fe's old neighborhood, very convenient, quiet and peaceful holiday.
FFordPrice is right for what you get here—pool, free breakfast, and decent rooms. But it is what you might expect for a BW situated between a pawn shop and a used car dealer. Service was not great—they may be short staffed so asked that we request when we wanted cleaning. We were here for 5 nights and asked the bathroom to be cleaned and get fresh towels after 3 nights but they never did. It’s an older hotel so needs some updates and remodeling (usb outlets, better fixtures and AC) but it’s fine and a great deal.
SSy323Nice hotel, the room is large and clean. We had a comfortable stay. The breakfast is not buffet, but 40$ credit in a restaurant, enough for two people, not too bad.
GGuest UserThe hotel is in a very good location convenient for the train yard area and an easy walk to the old town. The staff were polite and friendly, and the hotel was quite clean and well maintained. It is reasonable value for the price.
GGuest UserThe service was helpful and friendly. The bed was comfortable but the hotel itself could use a remodel or decor refresh. My room was a bit musty but terrible. Met my expectations for a budget hotel but didn’t exceed them.
Bbri and Keith foreverIt was a nice stay but they rushed us out the room and threatened to call the police when it was clear nost of our bags were already good to go and brought them outside to show them
