Orchard Garden Hotel

San Francisco Downtown
This hotel is in the perfect position, next to ChinaTown, 5 mins walk from Union Sq, 15 mins walk from Little Italy and 30 mins walk from Fisherman Wharf. Lots of high end shops, restaurants and bars in close proximity. The room was very quiet and front desk were helpful. Our double room was a little on the small side, not enough room even for 2 people to walk around each other at the bottom of the bed. We had room 803. My sons twin room was really nice size with a sofa. Room 810. Also I don't like having to step in bath and move across a plastic sheet to have a shower. A shower cubicle would be better. A firmer pillow would also be a nice option. The decor throughout could be updated. There isn't much of a reception area, its really just a hotel to use as a base as opposed to a hotel to spend time in. The fitness room just has a running machine, step machine and stationary bike. The restaurant is just open for breakfast.

South of Market (SOMA)
The hotel is very new and the layout is very innovative. The door card is a round wooden sign. Breakfast was very rich. You can see the bridge from the room. The hotel staff were very welcoming and even sent us to the car rental location for free on the last day.
Hotel Nikko San Francisco

San Francisco Downtown
I arrived at the hotel early and asked for an early check-in, and they listened. Perhaps because it is a Japanese hotel, hospitality is apparent right from the hotel entrance. The room was clean and good for a family of four. The location is right across from the start of the Tenderloin, so I was scared the first day I arrived, but it was okay during the day. I stayed on the club floor and used it in the morning and evening. Children (11 to 7 years old) can use it for free.
