HYPERION Hotel Salzburg

Salzburg|2.36km from Panzerhalle
When I was looking for a hotel for a 1-night stay in Salzburg, I stumbled upon the listing for the Hyperion and took a chance. I wasn't familiar with the Hyperion hotel brand and didn't know much about Salzburg. Now, I have fallen under the spell of both the hotel and the city. The Hyperion is a fairly new hotel and it is in pristine shape. The room is rather generously sized compared to most of the European hotels I have stayed in thus far. The bathroom was particularly good -- with an American-style shower that featured both a handheld wand and a rain shower head. The separate water closet was a plus. The technology in the room (especially the lighting tech) is impressive, if not slightly confusing. Nice touch to have the Nescafe machine and the Mozart chocolates. The bed was very comfortable. The location, next to Mirabell Gardens, was great. The hotel staff was helpful. We arrived early, and the front desk gave us tips on how to spend our afternoon, drawing out some local attractions on the map and suggesting we get a Salzburg card (we already had them). They also gave us a recommendation for dinner, but we were turned away at the restaurant, which was full. In stead, we dined at the restaurant in the hotel, which was quite nice. Service was solid. Breakfast is a tad expensive, but they do offer a wide assortment of breakfast items (hot and cold) as well as eggs made to order. Champagne was also available for mimosas. Nice touch.

The hotel itself was good. The room was small but very well planned, it had air conditioning, kettle, safe, shower gel etc. - everything you would need. The bed even had a soft support for your head when you are sitting in the bed. You had to check-in in the hotel nearby (2 mins walking, no more), but for us it was no problem. After that, you just use lust card to unlock outside and your own room door. The administration was very helpful as well (especially the blonde girl, pay her a bonus!). Finally, the sound isolation was good and the windows were sound proof. Now the drawbacks. Even though the room was clean and tidy, towels were changed, but cleaners weren't doing their job properly. Because there is a kettle in the room, tea and coffee packs were left the first 3 days, but the 4th and 5th day they weren't left. We could've bought them, but the stores work only until 8 PM, so it was too late when we came back. The 3rd day she left tea and coffee packs, but didn't leave paper cups and even threw away old paper cups that I left on my table. So had to go to registration and they gave us proper cups with spoons. The cleaner didn't put new bottle of liquid soap, so had to ask administration for this one as well. The cleaner was lazy enough, that the empty bottle of soap wasn't taken out (you can't do it by yourself, I tried). On the final morning we ran out of shower gel (unfortunately, I already started showering), and we almost ran out of toilet paper, because cleaner couldn't add the second one as is usual). So overall it can be a perfect hotel, but nuances listed above make it much worse that it is worth it. I'd be back again if I knew the problem with cleaners is sorted.

There are two properties: one is a castle, the other is not. Plan yr expectations accordingly. We booked a double room in the annex property for three nights. This property is tired and needs an update. Our room (221) was in the attic and resembled a small Hampton Inn/Howard Johnson room from the 70's/80's. The furniture was IKEA-like and minimal. There was no refrigerator or minibar (no wine/bottle opener) in the room and they ask you to refill your complimentary bottle of water from the tap in the bathroom daily. Three nights of this (with breakfast - I'm coming to that - ) cost us 560E. The bathroom was updated and had an excellent shower. The accommodations were adequate, but the property (including the small, drab lobby) has not been updated since at least the 90's. The front desk staff was not particularly helpful or friendly (and I speak German), but we didn't have any issues during our stay. There was no Austrian Gemütlichkeit. The town of Salzburg is a brisk 20-minute walk from the hotel. There are no reasonable restaurants in the vicinity. An Uber was 14-16E when we looked at taking one from the hotel to the centre of town. Now to the other property: breakfast is served in the castle and is a very different experience than the annex. The staff is 5-star and cater to yr every wish. We would like to recognise Marianna and Gunista for their extraordinary service during our stay. The breakfast itself is very good and the selection is excellent. I have to say, that we did not appreciate the ”woke education” that was made visible in every corner of the castle. It is not the venue, and we did not come to the property for a lesson in atonement. It was not a bad stay; it was not a great stay. Adequate at what we perceived as a high price. Again, we hope our review will help guests set their expectations for these two properties. You decide!

We booked a room for our family for 4 days from Friday. Unfortunately, the room provided was very dirty and smelled strongly to urine, see photos. As well, the walking distance from the room was dirty. The local staff was able to offer us only a cleaning, since there was no equivalent room available at that time. As we could not imagine ourselves as a family to spend our time in Salzburg in a room which may be insufficiently cleaned and still smells to urine, We rejected and requested full or partial reimbursement of booking costs. Unfortunately, the staff was not capable of making decisions and referred to us to management, which was no longer to be reached on Friday afternoon. We then immediately wrote a mail to management, in which we pointed out the misconduct and requested a reception in the booking costs. On the next Monday, after we had written a reminder email, then the rejecting answer from the management with the cancellation of our room came over the full amount of booking. They thought they could not meet us at the booking costs, that was not their “solving path”. We went to the hostel again Monday morning. This time someone from the management was present. This was not intended to meet us again. It even claimed that they had offered us an equivalent room as an alternative to cleaning on Friday and that is why they couldn't meet us! We wanted to see our paid room again, but this was already forgiven elsewhere! This is why they have doubled the cash, triggered by their bad services! From the customer perspective, it is very difficult to understand, especially since the management would have never expressed regretful comments about the situation or even apologised with us. With the experience we can not recommend this hostel to anyone!

On a recent group trip we stayed here three nights. Our group of 28 used all the rooms during our stay. The top floor was recently renovated. Rooms were comfortable. The first floor rooms have balconies. It was enjoyable to sit out on the balcony in the evening. The beds were comfortable. There was a variety to choose from for breakfast. The jams were especially tasty. The staff was friendly and helpful. They went out of they way to locate laundry facilities for our group. Public transportation was nearby and convenient.

We had a great stay at MotelOne. Our room (415) was clean, quiet and had a great view of the saltach and the white mountains. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. The breakfast buffet looked very attractive and the selection was completely enough. On foot you will be in the city centre, at the train station or at the Christmas markets in a short time. In the bar/lounge it is very cozy and you can make the evening sound with delicious cocktails. Price/performance is true for me. Please continue so! 👍🏼

I have lived in a more satisfactory hotel in a multi-country tour of Europe. It is a mountain road of a small castle. It is very good to park. The hotel has its own small parking lot. After entering the door, the staff welcomed us warmly and let us sit in the bar with free welcome drinks, the hotel is said to have existed in the 14th century and has been renovated and well maintained. There is a nice fountain in front of the gate that feels aristocratic. There should be more than 20 rooms in total, the room is clean and warm, the view outside the small balcony is the entrance garden. There is also a welcome fruit plate and private welcome letter in the room. It is worth mentioning that the restaurant in the hotel is a star Michelin, the food is delicious in many Michelin restaurants, in addition to the dishes there are many appetizers and petit fours desserts. There are also many types of breakfast (the European general breakfast is relatively simple), and you can even order foie gras, caviar, steak, etc. Overall, the service is very warm, you can feel the sincerity and enthusiasm of the service staff, and Christmas in an overseas holiday can be said to be very touched.

Very recommended hotel, the hotel room is small, but the surrounding area is very convenient. There is a parking lot. Especially worth recommending is the hotel staff, very friendly and enthusiastic. I may choose this one next time.
