My wife, my son and I stayed here as aprt of a Jet2 package holiday last week opting to go half board. First the good bits. It is very well situated for all of the town's local amenities (shops, bars, beaches etc) and is less than a 1km from Port Aventura. The hotel is very clean and the staff are all very friendly and efficient. Now the OK bits. The food was nice and there was a good selection but the hot buffet was rarely hot, mostly warm at best. That said, there is some hot food that is cooked to order in front of you such as pancakes, fried eggs and paella. If your children are fussy eaters (ours is!) you may want to consider whether half board is the right option as ours pretty much refused to eat anything. I must state that this is absolutely not the fault of the hotel in any whatsoever. At breakfast there are a selection of hot and cold drinks that you can just go up and pour yourself but at the evening meal there are no hot drinks available and every drink (even water) must be ordered and paid for. There are also no kettles in the rooms as standard but they can be hired. However a word of caution on this. To hire a kettle requires a 20 euro deposit (absolutely fine) plus 10 euros per day! So for a week it would cost over £60 to borrow one. more than one would actually cost to buy! The rooms do all have TVs and have about half a dozen live UK channels (BBC2, ITV, Ch4 etc) The outside pool area is very nice but again be warned, the pool is freezing. The kids (of course) don't care and they love it but we didnt see a single adult in the pool at all. Fully appreciate that it costs to heat pools and so it was just "one of those things". The hotel also has an indoor pool that you have to wear a swimming hat to enter. These can be purchased for 3 euros at reception. Allegedly the indoor pool is heated. I'd say it is marginally warmer than the outdoor pool but not by much! The sea was definitely warmer than both pools! Salou is also very tired and reminiscent of a seaside town from a few decades ago, with the same types of shops bars all the way down the sea front. If you want something better than hop on a bus to Cambrils (a village 15 minutes up the coast) where it is far more appealing. So in summary, this is a nice clean hotel with friendly staff in an OK town with OK facilities.
