The White Hart

This is a review of the restaurant only. My wife and I have dined at The White Hart three or four times over the last couple of years and the experience just gets better and better. Last night, we sat in the taproom, as the lucky guests of friends. Every dish showed an exemplary combination of sound, exciting conception and flawless technique. I am a French-trained chef, and I can assure you there is no better cook anywhere in the area. This gentleman deserves much more recognition, and all of his loyal following, among which we number ourselves and other friends. The service and ambiance are equally topnotch, they make great cocktails, and choose excellent wine. The setting is beautiful. What more could you ask for?

I stayed in Room #1 on November 16, 2023 and did not sleep a wink. While the property is clean and well maintained and the service is excellent, the room in which I was placed had a faulty heating system that grinded and rattled all night such that I did not sleep a wink. For nearly $350 a night I expected so much more and was very disappointed. I mentioned my situation to the front desk and suggested that they have the heating unit serviced but I have received no apology or follow up from management about my stay. I am very disappointed and doubly so because I had high expectations for my stay. I even have a video of the unit in action which I shared with the front desk and emailed to the White Hart. Not a whiff of a reply.

Charming and comfortable room in a beautiful location. Check-in and check-out were effortless. The food is excellent, and the common areas have an inviting, like-home vibe. We had a very relaxing time just sitting on the porch and reading a book.

We've stayed in the White Hart before, and have always loved the ambiance, rooms, and food. However this time was so disappointing. We stayed in room 32, which was a lower level King bed suite in the separate cottage. The room itself was lovely. However, I would never stay here again. Starting in the early evening, and then again first thing in the morning, every single footstep in the upstairs room could be heard as though it was a herd of elephants. We finally called the front desk, who tried to help, and when the upstairs guests did not answer their phone, the staff member came over to knock on their door. They did have children who must have been constantly in motion, although the guests denied it. They may not have realized that in such an old buidling, every step can be heard below, and even when told, did not think it appropriate to try and restrain their children. While the hotel staff expressed their apologies (in the evening, and again when I mentioned it at checkout), nothing was done. Recognizing that guest behavior is out of the control of management, these upper floor rooms should not allow young children (unless some sort of sound proofing is added). These rooms are not inexpensive, and for a special evening away, we were sorely disappointed. Update: Mgmt did recognize our suboptimal experience and refunded us a portion of our stay, which was the appropriate response for an inn of their quality.

This place is awful. The owners claim that the company openly stand against domestic violence, but intentionally hired the abuser of one of their long time employees. Don't stay here. No integrity. And really bad coffee.

They support domestic abuse and silences survivors. Domestic abusers are welcome here more than survivors. Absolutely a disgusting establishment if you can even call it that . DO BETTER . DO BETTER!!!!!

They hire the known domestic abusers of their staff, then say it's okay because their ABUSER is "over it". They then di everything they can to silence the victim while partnering with a domestic abuse support service, and pretending that they actually care.
