The Regent, Rye

Just got home from a fantastic stay at The Regent. On arrival we received a warm welcome from the owner Sara, who gave us a map and info on places to eat. The location was very central and in walking distance of everything. Our room was bright and airy and decorated well. We arrived in a heatwave and were very pleased to find a summer duvet and fan provided! The bed was very comfortable and there was adequate storage and hot drink facilities. I loved the honesty box of goodies. Such a nice idea. The bathroom and shower were fab with lovely smelling toiletries The cleanliness of the room and hotel was exceptional. Downstair there was a small bar (Spencers) with a great range of drinks. Shout out to Ben the barman who was very knowledgable and great to chat with! We felt very welcome at this hotel and very much enjoyed our stay. We will certainly recommend and will stay again!

We stayed at this motel and it is lovely. Maybe nothing very fancy, but the rooms were recently refurbished and decorated to a good standard. The rooms had a lovely smell, the bathroom was clean and tidy. The location is perfect to most of the historic places of Rye and to pubs, restaurants, etc. Would definitely recommend.

Hubby and I chose The Regent after reading the reviews. The motel is only a few minutes walk from Rye station and in the centre of town. We stayed in family room number 5 for one night as it was the only room available on our chosen date. The room and bathroom were very clean but the TV remote control was filthy as was the kettle - it didn’t help that it also had someone’s hair attached to it. The dressing gowns were a nice touch and the towels were lovely and soft. There was an ‘honesty box’ in the room containing water, canned drinks, chocolate, peanuts and crisps. If you don’t leave the correct payment the notice says they’ll deduct the payment for goods taken from the card you used to book the room with, plus they’ll take an additional £5 admin fee. We came down to the bar at 6.10pm and were greeted warmly. I noticed a sign on the board saying happy hour was between 5.00pm and 6.00pm. It would have been nice to have been given this information when we checked in. The Regent does not serve breakfast and the local cafes don’t open until 9.00am or 9.30am which is a shame as we’re early rises. All in all it wasn’t a bad stay.

Lovely little, unassuming from the front, motel, 5 mins from the cobbled old town. Lovely room with a gorgeous shower. Great little bar right underneath. Very friendly staff. Rey is very pretty and there's loads to do around and about. Had a lovely stay!

Great, central location, spotlessly clean, super comfy bed & good value. Lots of lovely eateries in immediate vicinity so don’t be put off by no breakfast provision. We stayed in the “Beach” super king room at the back of the property so very peaceful. Friendly welcome & easy check in/out.
