We were there almost 2 months ago in December and I am just now writing a review. We had a great time. We stayed 5 nights. Just wanted a getaway for awhile. The area is not at its prettiest in early Dec., but we knew that. We cherish our stay at Sylvan Falls Mill. Linda & Mike are super nice people. We had some excellent conversations and they know their community so well. All breakfasts are made using local organic ingredients (farm to table) and were excellent. If you are looking for 5 star accommodations, this aint the place. But, It is a very homey comfortable place. It is a great place to recharge your batteries, so to speak. Would we return? In a heartbeat!

This was a memorable experience of a lifetime! Linda and Mike were very gracious and lovely hosts. Our entire family went for two days for my husband's 70th birthday. It was so amazing. Every need was catered to before we could even ask. I can't wait to go back again. Linda and Mike are fantastic cooks and provided us with thoughtful and delicious meals. This place will be our family's go to from now on. The rooms and property were clean. The waterfall is amazing. I have been telling Linda and Mike that I want to keep this place to myself, but really, it is too good not to share.

I have seen this wonderful place listed in some of my waterfall hiking books. It had two of my favorite things, waterfalls and old grist mills. We came to stay there and hike in the area on our anniversary. We stayed in the waterfall room. It was decorated with beautiful antiques. But the best feature of the room is you can see and hear the waterfall. The sound of the waterfall was heavenly. The room also had a ceiling fan that brought in that cool mountain air. But the best feature of the inn is the husband and wife, Linda and Mike. They made us feel welcome and at home. Everything was peaceful. Linda asks the guest before they arrive if they have any food allergies. They try very hard to be very accommodating to their guests. She served us breakfast on the screened porch overlooking the beautiful waterfall. The breakfast was delicious (homemade crepes & skillet potatoes with Hollandaise sauce). We also were served some wonderful pastries and muffins each day for breakfast that featured some of the corn meal or wheat flour that was milled at their old grist mill. The food was top notch. The atmosphere was so relaxing. And you did not feel rushed on eating or anything during our stay. They have also worked hard on the grounds and landscaping. You can go out and sit on the benches in the yard in front of the waterfall and just relax. Both Linda and Mike also offered tips on where to eat in the local area. Each bedroom is private and each has a private bathroom. There are 4 bedrooms. You do not feel crowded there. They also go out of their way to give the guests their privacy. But they also take the time to chat with you if like to socialize. I think they work hard giving the guests what they need. I hope to go back someday. They made us feel welcome. We had a peaceful easy feeling.

We were going to stay here until the lady explain the rules that they follow from the CDC. She said that the vaccinated folks would get to eat first then what was left over the unvaccinated could have. For some reason I could not find that rule in the CDC guidelines. Really Lady...........

Linda was a gracious host. She met us upon arrival & showed us around. The decor is country/vintage. She offered us wine that evening. The tap water was spring water, so it was refreshing. She served us breakfast on the screened porch early in the morning so that we could leave for an event. The breakfast was delicious (homemade crepes & skillet potatoes with Hollandaise sauce). We were also treated to crumb cake made from wheat flour from the mill. I wandered the property with my coffee in the early morning hours. A serene property.

What a gem! I was just looking for a place to meet some friends from out of town. What we found was an amazing B&B! I can’t say enough about the gorgeous environment (waterfall, raspberry plants, fire pit, etc.). Our hosts, Linda and Mike, were fantastic and accommodated us in every possible way! The rooms were lovely, the beds and pillows were clean and very comfortable! Breakfast was absolutely fabulous. We were incredibly comfortable and made to feel so at home! I’m looking for a reason to go back and highly recommend that you stay here if you’re looking for any overnight trips to Clayton!

We had a lovely stay at Sylvan Falls Mill Bed and Breakfast. Where else can you eat a delicious breakfast right next to a gorgeous, roaring waterfall?! The food and service were wonderful. We enjoyed talking to Linda and Mike; they had some great stories to share. The mill wheel is spectacular; be sure to pick up some organic flour and/or grits freshly ground right on sight.
