Al Moudira Hotel

The hotel and grounds were beautiful.  The room was enormous.  The service at lunch was exceptional.  They even opened the breakfast buffet at 5:30 am specifically for us since we had an early flight to catch.  However,  the checkout process ruined the experience for me.  The credit card reader was not working.  They tried running 3 different credit cards a total of 6 or 7 times, and every time,  on the receipt, it said "no response" and not "denied." I had also used these credit cards several other times elsewhere in Egypt without any issues.  The person checking me out essentially implied to me multiple times that it was my fault that the payment was not going through.  There was an ATM just outside so I asked if I could get cash out at the ATM and pay in egyptian pounds,  but the guy refused and said all the prices at the hotel were in US dollars and he could not do the conversion. (The conversion is just a simple multiplication of the price in US dollar x 50.) Finally,  I remembered that I did have some US dollars, and fortunately, it was enough to cover the bill.  I believe that the amount of the bill was approximately $196. I gave the guy $200, and he was like,  I only have $5 in change.  He kept asking me if I had another $1. I did not and kept telling him that I did not.  Since he seemed so unwilling to give me the $1 extra in change I just told him to forget it and let him keep my change since by this time it was 10 minutes past the time that we were supposed to leave for the airport.  I was quite upset because this person made it seem like everything was my fault that I could not pay, and it was essentially up to me to come up with a solution on how to pay. 

This is a beautiful hotel, the rooms are stunning and the service and restaurant are equally excellent. The standout memory from our trip to Luxor is our wonderful guide Omar who is extremely knowledgeable in Egyptology, and made each of our excursions in the area an absolute joy! We're so blessed to have met Omar who has become our good friend since then, and we still message each other almost a year later as I'm learning Arabic for work in this area and he's helped me so much with this. I highly recommend Omar and will always request him as a guide (and a friend!) whenever wo go to Egypt in future. We stayed at many places and had many guides in Luxor and Egypt and this was our best experience by far. Shukran Omar and our Al Moudira Luxor family!

Elegant & unique accommodations with service beyond reproach. World class food preparation & presentation. The staff is the definition of hospitality. They are friendly, professional, knowledgeable & will make every effort to provide whatever one desires. Kudos to Robert, Sabry, Jafer, Ahmed, & Mr. Shenuda for making our stay extra special.

I stayed at Al Moudira Hotel a few weeks ago and was enchanted by the grounds. The food was excellent, the staff were tremendous. The biggest highlight of the trip, however was the fabulous recommendation the hotel was able to make for an Egyptologist named Omar to take my family and myself to various sites on the East and West banks of Luxor. Omar exceeded our expectations in every capacity; beyond a vast wealth of knowledge, he was patient with our questions, and conveyed a clear history of the various dynasties of ancient Egypt. I want to return to Luxor, and if I get the opportunity I would be lucky to have Omar as my guide again! We were treated to excellent food under his supervision, and he was also very helpful and accommodating as far as helping my family to visit local artisans so that we could procure gifts for our friends and family. I took so many amazing pictures and learned more than I thought possible about Egypt's amazing history. Thank you Omar, and Al Moudira for facilitating these amazing tours and experiences!

Walking into Al Moudira, immediately you are transported into another world, feeling welcome and at ease. At reception, the staff warmly greeted us, and Ahmed immediately ensured everything was taken care of, as our bags were whisked off to our rooms and our welcome drinks were served. Once we were checked in, Ahmed gave us a tour of the beautiful grounds, which feel like a lush tropical escape, and eagerly showed us everything Al Moudira has to offer - a pool, spa and massage services, a well-equipped gym and yoga studio, and more. Saving the best for last, Ahmed finally opened the doors to our room and we realized we were home. It was beautiful, an homage to Egypt, while also taking inspiration from Morocco and other Arab countries. The room, closet, and bathrooms were incredibly spacious and comfortable, beautifully decorated, and well-appointed, with everything you might need during your stay, including complimentary refreshments in the minibar. The staff at Al Moudira is fantastic, and the service impeccable. Everyone was eager to help accommodate us. The dining courtyard was another highlight, and we enjoyed breakfast and dinner there - the breakfast buffet, in particular, was very enjoyable. All in all, what an amazing stay. Our only regret was not staying longer, as one night was simply not enough to enjoy this one-of-a-kind hotel and the sights that Luxor has to offer. Thank you to the Ahmed and the rest of the staff for making this an unforgettable stay - we will be back!
