The personal wasn’t very friendly. Very responsive. Very disturbing with slamming doors. Difficulty to sleep because the air conditioner was very loudly. Terrible breakfast. Very small rooms and no wardrobes. The positive thing with this hotel is the location.

The location is central to most anything IN Puerto Ayora and not being on the main roads is less noisy from than aspect. However, inside with openness and tile floors noise echos such as when people come in I heard their loud voices and slamming of doors, and screeching children. Rooms are simple but doable. TV worked selectively. Wifi was not consistent; sometimes in the lobby/breakfast area it was a bit better. Breakfast was served and selection was alternated by the day of the week. On day leaving early for a tour they provided a sandwich to go. The tour I booked through the hotel was very disappointing and was not fully informed as to what would entail with the tour such as added fees; it made for a totally disappointing day and lost trust in the reception staff. One nice thing, they took my laundry out for washing at a fair price.

Lovely staff and the room was clean and spacious. Good to have a water bottle refill station too, to reduce plastic use. Small kitchen if you need it. Easy walk from the pier and to the Charles Darwin centre.

Espana is centrally located in Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz, Galapagos, close to bars, restaurants, shops, waterfront, pharmacies and medical facilities. I booked tours through the hotel which worked out very well, and the hotel suggested that I do the Santa Cruz Highlands tour (including El Chato Tortoise Reserve) en route from the airport as a combined transfer/tour. This was a great suggestion as you basically drive through the highlands coming from the airport anyway. Breakfast was included and delivered to my table each morning. On one morning, I had a boat trip to Bartolome island booked (on board schooner Nautilus - highly recommended), and the hotel receptionist met me at the hotel at 5:45am and walked me to the pickup location with her dogs. Wifi is terrible - as it is everywhere on the island (I tried every bar I was in) - can't even upload one photo! But its not the hotel, it's the whole island. Very happy with the experience overall. Hotels can be expensive here - not a bad spot to reign in the budget and splurge back on the mainland.

Really disappointed. Expensive and refused to take credit card. Wifi so bad it was unusable. Depressing bare room with no view (small window onto a dark hallway). No hot water. And they tried to convince us to use their driver for much more than a local taxi. There are much better options in town for far less.

Pretty basic hotel in Puerto Ayora. Clean enough, quiet enough, some hot water for showers, so is a reasonable place if you get a good deal, probably wouldn’t pay much more than $60 for two people. Breakfast the first day was good, the second ok.
