Greg Apartments Kampa Prague

Lesser Town Prague|0.18km from Michnův Palác
I'd looked at a few hotels and some nice-looking apartments in Prague and noticed some reviews talking about late evening noise affecting some locations in the main part of the old town. Greg Apartments is just the other side of the river on an exceptionally quiet, residential road so looked like a better option. The friendly manager of the block was flexible for my early arrival which was a bit changeable due to a minor fault with our aircraft. It's easy to do the bus ride from the airport to here for a mere 40 CZK, either the bus 191 to penultimate stop and then walk 15 minutes or bus 119 and change en-route for bus 20 for a 1-2 minute walk. The public transport website will find even more options. The whole building is rented out for short-term use. I was in a ”small” apartment, number 3 on the ground floor. It turned out to be very spacious with a decent size lounge with open kitchen and a bathroom which included a washer and a dryer - very useful if you're on a long trip. It took me a while to work out how to open the washing machine door - the Beko door latch is just poorly designed and requires some gentle wiggling/pushing. The location is great. I found the main tourist places were all within walking distance. The castle complex is on a hill but it's not too bad if you pace yourself. There's a funicular up the nearby park which is fun to ride and takes you to the ”mini Eiffel” tower (Petrin Lookout Tower or Petrinska Rozhledna). Lots of uncrowded cafes nearby and some small supermarkets. I became a regular at Kofarna Ujezd which has good coffee and some nice sandwiches. The furnishings are minimal but functional. The only minor negatives I could list would be the thin curtains in the bedroom - these could be thicker/darker and larger for blackout, a single thin squishy pillow and a few crumbs in the fridge. I had to be careful with having my lounge window open as it faces an internal courtyard and there were some old guys who regularly smoked at a table nearby. I closed my windows when I wasn't in the apartment for security. I thoroughly recommend the apartment block and will probably return for another stay to explore more of the Czech Republic. I'm surprised now to read that Prague features in some top ten cities around the world for pickpocketing. I travelled to Barcelona on the same trip and knew it was a problem there. Prague felt very safe to me but I probably have a natural caution from living in a big city.

A lovely traditional hotel in a great location. The hotel is right at the end of the Charles bridge so it’s really easy to get to all of the main sights around the city. We couldn’t believe how quiet our room was considering it’s location. There was lots of choice at breakfast and we particularly appreciated the free tea and coffee that was available all day. The room was spacious, and toiletries and a hairdryer were available. Would recommend.

Stayed here for 5 nights and location could not have been better right opposite tram stop. Room was good, quite large the only thing I didn’t like was the shower was above the bath whereas I would have preferred a walk in (personal preference) Air conditioning was very good. The thing I thought strange was only 2 tea bags and no coffee, when asked first time at reception was told they didn’t have any, second time of asking different person got housekeeping to deliver some. Breakfast was plentiful the hot option could of been hotter! Great coffee and pastries. Very friendly bar man called Raphael, good service at the bar.

The hotel is very remote, close to the river, Prague is a stone road, pulling the suitcase to find the hotel is more difficult, because the customer recommended this hotel, the room is very small, the twin room has almost no space to put the box, the mineral water actually asks for money.

Great for couple of nights but unless you book a deluxe room the rooms are very very small. Breakfast was basic sadly no English Breakfast Tea which I though every hotel on the planet would have. Bathrooms also compact but functional, instant hot water, basic soaps supplied, we only stayed three nights and we booked well in advance so prices were good value. Wi-Fi was ok. We had a room on the main road and boy was it noisy? The trams run until midnight and start again at 5.00am. No bar service or room service, vending machine in lobby was locked and reception did not have the keys? Super bar beneath the hotel serving drinks and Czech food, popular with locals, clean wc’s.

This is the best service hotel in 6 hotels. The welcome drink will not be dealt with casually. The lobby manager is very enthusiastic and introduces the hotel's small courtyard to be extraordinarily warm and refined. The hotel is located in a small town, quiet in the middle of nowhere, often encounters a cute little restaurant around the corner, and walks 5 minutes to the Charles Bridge. The restaurant waiter is warm and professional, and can clearly remember the tea that the guest prefers. The only feeling is that the service is in place.
