Except for the thing about sharing the room with other lodgers, hostel-style, this is a swank hôtel. The floors in the one-person-at-a-time bathrooms are marble and the showers provide abundant hot water, the hallways are quiet and feel like a Pacific Northwest lodge should, the restaurant on the first floor (Pacific Standard) is a nice place to hang out even if you never buy anything. The bedrooms are quiet, the windows open, and the furniture is solid enough that having a bunkmate who shifts around won't wake you up. And I didn't think this would be an issue until the last hostel I'd stayed at, but the staff is helpful and doesn't give an air of being annoyed that you're bothering them. I stayed for four days, but felt like I could stay much longer.

I spend 100 nights per year in just Hilton brands alone. I'm middle aged and not high maintenance. Additionally due to my industry/company I've been required to travel during the entire COVID nightmare. I totally understand the challenges and changes the pandemic brought to hotels and have a great deal of respect for the hospitality industry as a whole. This is my 4th time being a guest at this property and honestly there are no major issues. In general property, guest rooms, staff and location are all great! This is more a full-service hotel and a considerable step above your typical Hampton Inn format/experience. A few minor irritates: No shampoo in my room or at front desk. Was told they ran out? No loaner guest umbrellas. Was told they ran out? Limited breakfast hours and no to-go bagged breakfasts on the weekends? Regards to homeless/transient problem that plagues Portland. It's considerably better/cleaner around the hotel and Pearl district than just a year ago. I have no issues walking around by myself or concern about parking my car on the surrounding streets (except some park blocks are still dicey).
Moxy Portland Downtown is located in the West End Downtown district, bordered by the Pearl & Culture districts, and just steps away from downtown Portland's amazing tax-free shopping. Check in at the "heartbeat of the hotel" better known as Bar Moxy in our spacious lobby where you will receive a complimentary cocktail or coffee. Take advantage of our gathering areas with modern seating, workspaces for those last few emails, or just chill around our fireplace with your crew while planning your night out. Other amenities at Moxy Downtown Portland include a state of the art gym, food cart pods, lobby activations, board games, guest lockers and a well-stocked bar featuring craft cocktails, wines by the glass and local brews. Very good hotel, good location, next to Macy's and Nordstrom Department Store. Free parking at the hotel, suitable for our self-driving tour. The room was clean and big enough, quite a lot of business guests, and the business was very good. Breakfast was a bit monotonous and everything else was good.

Excellent
GGuest UserWe needed to stay close to PDX for a very early flight and this hotel was perfect. Great value, seemed new, shuttle to the airport (sign up in advance), great bed and friendly staff. Room and bath were extremely clean and very spacious. Walking distance to Target, a few restaurants, the rail stop. Many Covid restrictions still in place, the pool was closed. Overall great visit.
GGuest UserThis is an oldie but a goodie, in an excellent location. It is on an airport frontage road just a couple of minutes from the airport. Taco Bell is within walking distance or you could also dine next door at the Sheraton for 10% off. The rooms are large and comfortable and the hot breakfast is good. The 24hr airport shuttle works well; you call when you need the ride rather than wait for scheduled intervals. The staff is great.
GGuest UserWe fly in from Hawaii, our flight delayed 3 hours, so we arrived at the hotel at 4am, the girl at the counter was walking towards outside and saw us entering the hotel with luggages without saying a word, we thought she was stepped out just a bit, and waited in the lobby, but she disappeared! There was another man in the lobby he tried to help us find her however no luck.
We were so very tired and waited in the lobby for half an hour, she finally came in and gave us the key of the room, it only took like 2 minutes.
If it were that simple, why not just handed the key to us upon our arrival, we tried to make phone calls, but the phone rang right in front of us in the counter with nobody inside, it's very very very frustrated.
Ddavidll2018This gem of a hotel features HUGE rooms/suites and a lovely daily buffet breakfast. The staff was incredibly helpful from the moment we checked in, really trying extra hard to make sure our stay was perfect (it was!). Front desk staff Raquel, Woody, Brent, and Abraham was available round the clock. (AND - a special mention to the housekeeping department - I can't remember a hotel ever providing such a consistent level of spotless cleaning!). Forget anything you've seen on the news: Portland is open to visitors - and THIS is the hotel you want to stay in!
GGuest UserI have been living here for the past few days because of business trips. Duniway is a great hotel, close to many attractions in Portland. We were able to walk to Mother's Bistro (Mom's Tavern), Southpark Seafood (South Park Seafood), Powell's Book Sellers (Powell's bookmaker), and many great restaurants. The room was well furnished with lots of interesting decorations. The bar downstairs is also a good resting place for a drink, wine or coffee. The gym was being renovated during our stay and this was probably the only place not so good. Highly recommend Duniway and will definitely come back again!
The hotel facilities were fine, average for the price range. The staff was friendly, helpful. I booked two stays a week apart, minutes from the Portland Airport for a family trip to Hawaii. On the first visit the hotel shuttle was great, came within a few minutes. Took three trips on it during that stay—my arrival and back to the airport to collect arriving family members, all was well. On the return trip I needed to take the shuttle back to the airport to catch an intercity shuttle back to my home city Eugene. The desk said “It’s already on its way” I waited half an hour, no shuttle. Quite a few people were waiting for it by now. Releasing I would miss the other shuttle’s boarding time, I called for a private Lyft back home. I think I will do this when flying from PDX from now on. It is less expensive overall (hotel stay, intercity shuttle) Also very comfortable and exact timing I needed. Another caution: This was NOT the Aloft hotel’s fault but I accidentally booked the stays on a third party site. It looked like I was on the hotel’s web page except for tiny print in the upper left hand corner. It added a total of $160 to the stays and makes it impossible to cancel the stays even weeks before. I see this happening more and more. Be careful out there.
JJamisonThis hotel is in the perfect location. Very close to good restaurants (Indian & Italian), walking distance. Close to Target and CVS too.
The Hotel in general is well maintained, modern and clean. In addition, the bedding is extremely comfortable and a well thought out room layout. I appreciated the mini fridge, ironing board and state of the art iron. These small details made my experience very pleasant. Also, the gym was very clean too.
Highly recommended this hotel!
AAdam ValentinerI would describe this as a hipster hotel with unique character to match the downtown area. My teenage kids did like the room and the adjacent coffee shop. However, I felt the room was a little small, especially the bathroom and the room could use some updating like more amenities like towel racks and storage for suitcases. Our room was not close to being recently remodeled so pictures can be a little deceiving. Bed was comfortable but I could hear people walking around above our room at night. I also struggled with parking found it very stressful trying to find parking, plan to spend around $40 a day on parking a day if you are driving around a lot. The overnight parking which is approx 10-15 minutes away walking distance is not on site and is only $20 a night, but it does not feel safe after 10pm to be walking around due to the homeless problem in the area. I don't think I will be returning to this hotel. I def don't feel like this was a 3 star hotel, I would give it a 2.5 out of 4 or 5 stars. The breakfast was a continental at best. Pastries with juice or coffee and fruit. Sometimes they provided yogurt or boxed oatmeal and oat milk but nothing special and get there before 9 am or there may run out of items. Portland has a lot of fun things to see but because of the homeless problem I would seek out recommendations for the best attractions and stir clear of the problem areas. Washington park and art museum were a lot of fun to visit. Multnomah Falls would be an all day trip and get there very early since parking is terrible or park off site and take tram in. I was also charged an additional fee of $25 a night which was not mentioned anywhere on the trip.com booking receipt.
ZzhinanStayed twice, checked in the other day, and later turned out to be the same room, mainly because of the relative cheapness and free parking.
But it is located in the northern suburbs and there are few places to eat around.
XXIAOYUDon't expect breakfast here, or prepare yourself. The sanitation is not ideal. There is no hair dryer in the room and it needs to be borrowed from the front desk. But this hotel is close to all attractions and the city centre and is less than 15 minutes drive.
