El Taj Oceanfront and Beachside Condo Hotel

Playa del Carmen|0.55km from Caminarte
Just stayed in one of the units for 5 n ights. Have travelled extensively adn this definitely ranks as one of the best places I have stayed. Only a 30-45 min ride from Cancun airport. Can arrange transpo ahead time right through the condo/hotel. The check in was seamless--ladies at front desk so friendly, professional, courteous. The entire staff for that matter is kind, helpful, will help get you whatever you want or need. Erick was always super helpful!!! The facilities are lush, green, decorated beautifully, great breeze form the water. The place is immaculate. Pools are great-clean, beautiful hot tub w built in seats facing the ocean is a nice touch! Some of the units have their own hot tubs. I was so pleasantly surprised by all the amenities like coffee grounds, paper products, water form the dispenser etc- amenities not usually included when I have rented condos . Looved being able to get day passes to the local gym and enjoy yoga, bootcamp etc. Location is perfect. Right on the beach. Sargassum was bad some days but hotels on beach trying really hard to keep it cleaned up-not their fault, problem all along the coasts, even Florida getting hit hard w it. I loved that Taj has its own nice little private beach area, comfy chairs w umbrellas complementary, cute restaurant on beach. Few minute walk north of us is Mamitas Beach and another beach just to south of us, also wlaking,if you want more aciton. Few block walk to 5th ave w all it's shops,restaurants,music.,nightclubs. Loved it so much I already booked a room here for an upcoming trip.

The most terrible experience you can have and I definitely don't recommend this hotel, don't be fooled, it's not a five stars hotel. There are multiple reasons why: 1. Most important thing that our money (2000 USD) was STOLEN from the SAFE!. If any comments from hotel says that there is no signs of tempered safe so no theft happened, that's a lie. We checked cameras (very limited view but still more than enough) and responsible person was identified - cleaning staff. Surprise surprise that employee didn't come to work next day. Hotel contacted their insurance, but in the end we were promised that someone will contact us in few days (more than a week passed, still no news) 2. Theft situation itself was handeled terribly by the hotel, very poor communication. Initially we were told to go to the police by a taxi... for which we were supposed to pay but cash.. which was stolen. Also it was in the middle of the night and Mexico police doesn't speak English (and we don't speak Spanish)... we had to spend 2-3 day in the police, as hotel was looking for a translator, in the end the chosen ”translator” was hotel employee with Google translator.... Also most of the time hotel staff spoke in Spanish and didn't even bother to translate anything to us. 3. Few days before the pick up (during our stay) we asked to book a transfer from the airport to the hotel, but they didn't do that 4. In Booking many things are advertise, but at least half of them are non existanse, e.g.:4/7 reception, conserje 5. Breakfast were quite poor and consisted of 6 very basic dishes... not what you would expect from hotel which advertises to be 5* 6. Dirty bed sheets/ towels/ swimming pool area 6. We booked trip via hotel and they have some sort of partnership with travel agency. Booked tour was supposed to be in English, but our guide barely spook the language... 7. Before leaving we asked to book PCR test, but for some reason we got antigen one instead

Fair price, clean, extra friendly staff, ok continental breakfast in a very beautiful place (l'embasciata d'italia). We were afraid of the noise both from 5th ave and from the restaurant in the morning. I guess we were very tired everyday and had a wonderful night sleep. There was noise indeed from 5th ave but nothing extraordinary. Didn't even use earplugs (though I still recommend bringing good quality ones).

we stayed in one of the rooms with a balcony facing the street, very cozy hotel and we sat on the balcony every evening. the staff are incredibly nice, Jessica especially but everyone was very helpful. If you are going to a Rooftop bar/pool, we can recommend Be playa, 20 minutes walk to Punta Esmeralda or 4 minutes to the regular beach. We can also recomend: Eat at Don Sirloin and El Fogon, food and sometimes live band at Lost Tiki. A trip to Rio Secreto and cenote Azul. Boat tour to Isla mujeres and Isla Contoy (from Cancun). Have a great trip! A and K

Hotel location is very good, shopping street is close by, five minutes walk to the beach, it can be said to be quiet in the middle of trouble, has been recommended to friends, the partition of the balcony is best frosted isolation If the requirements for western food are not so high, this buffet breakfast is still okay. The waiter is very nice. I will take the initiative to ask you for drinks and coffee, and I will take it for you. Of course, I can also take it myself. I love western breakfast so it feels very much satisfaction

Room was very nice. Arrival day was fine, then it went down hill from there. 2nd day no running water, so toilets weren't functioning nor can you take a shower. The pressure in the water both in the shower and sink was a mere poor. 3rd and 4th day no elevator, harsh when you are staying on the 3rd floor, especially when you are checking out with luggages. The water on the tub took over 1 hour to be fill. Pool needs a lot of repairs, while hanging out in the pool there were workers everyday, replacing the floor, I think they should have put a sign letting the guest know. Front desk, check in was fine, Ceasar checked us in, Amazing worker, excellent and personable. Second shift we were greeted with Alex, now he was rude, awful customer service. Our last day of check out he didn't show up for work, we were greeted by the maintenance guy, Marco awesome person, again he was put to cover because Alex never showed up for work and Marco did not know how to work the front desk and we had to leave so, we weren't checked out. Hopefully I won't have a surprised bill. Overall I would not stay here nor would I recommend this place. Major flaw, they never answer their phone, email or WhatsApp, tried for days to connect with them and we have nothing.

The team at BePlaya is amazing! They always go out of their way to take care of every detail and this trip was no exception. The rooms are neat and clean with wonderful amenities. And the staff is friendly and helpful. The pool and bar area is comfortable for relaxing by day and dancing by night. You will not go wrong by choosing to stay with Veronica and her team! Thank you!
