Lovely looking hotel, let down by ****s and tall grass in the flower beds. Very clean but dark room with no outside window. Tiny bathroom with poor shower. When sitting on loo could touch wall with knees. Food fair. Here at a difficult time for tourism, but staff not very smiley, unlike the rest of Jordan

This is a quirky hotel, self styled as a village. The rooms are a series of cottages spread around the property from a central reception area. Security is good with a gate entrance manned 24 hours. Reception smells of cigarettes but is efficient. Our room is a bit weary, bathroom tired and old fashioned and towels need replacing, electrics all look a bit dodgy but they are probably fine. Bed is big and comfy. Room is clean. Breakfast is average and when we were here a bit of a 'bun fight' as two coach parties are staying. Access to Petra takes about 15 minutes drive. This is essentially a tourist hotel with Petra in mind.

A beautiful hotel built into a former Ottoman structure. Picturesque location overlooking Wadi Musa. The only problem was a power outage which kicked on the huge diesel generator next to our room. Last night in the hotel and too tired to move so was just toughed it out and pretended we were on an airplane and fell asleep. Power restored about 2200 and genny stopped.

Enjoyed an overnight stay at Hayat Zaman after visiting Petra in late November. This rustic and charming property is repurposed from an old mountainside village. The main drawback for the hotel is the distance from Petra (10km from Google maps) so a car or transfer is likely needed if returning to visit Petra on multiple days. It was quiet and seemed empty except for one tour group during my visit, likely due to cancellations caused by the ongoing problems in the region. I personally had no issues and felt safe while traveling through Jordan itself. My large rustic room was well furnished with everything clean, in nice condition, and good working order. However, while the room was big, the bathroom was small in comparison. The hotel had a pool and a hammam, but I did not have the chance to use either. The dinner and breakfast buffet was substantial with a wide selection. I enjoyed local dishes mixed in with the usual Western items. Jordanian hospitality was great throughout my trip and especially during my visit to Hayat Zaman.

Amazing, unique rooms with thick, cool stone walls and privacy. The food was varied, tasty and freshly cooked. We enjoyed fantastic service from lovely staff. We stayed six days and it felt like home throughout.

I toured this area with a group of 35 from our church and stayed here 2 nights touring Petra during the day hours. What great place. The hotel was very unique. It was originally an Ottoman village (a tribe from Turkey) and the hotel rooms were the individual houses. In 1893 it opened as a hotel and is now a (Hyatt) Hayatt hotel. Each room is different with similar decor. The bathrooms were very clean - not posh but in keeping with the decor were very functional. There are Turkish baths here (some in our group went and enjoyed the experience), a pool and an excellent restaurant. We enjoyed great food and wine. We slept well here in good beds . Both nights a nearby mosque played some kind of prayer/ hymn /chant over loud speakers at about 4:15 am and again at 5 am. It woke me up (as it did most in our group) however my husband slept through it. Never the less, I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and I am so happy this hotel was part of our experience.

Quirky place with loads of rustic character. Your experience will depend greatly on what room you get. We traveled with a tour group; many of us got rooms with exotic decor and newly renovated bathrooms. A few of us got more boring rooms with dated interiors and old bathrooms. (These seemed to be clustered near the pool.) Ask for a room with character and a newer bathroom. Our room, 815, was separated into two rooms: a small bedroom and a sitting room with two chairs and a TV. The walls were stone, and there was only one small window, which was in the sitting room. The window opened to let in the breeze, which was welcome. You could hear people walking past, but other than that the room was quiet. Oh, except for the mosque next door, which woke us up before dawn every day. The food was fine, breakfast and dinner buffets of mostly Mediterranean dishes. We were advised not to drink the tap water, and bottled water is expensive so try to bring some of your own. We were given two bottles with the room each day. If you have mobility issues, I strongly recommend finding another place to stay. There are many uneven stone steps up and down throughout this resort, and the steps often do not have railings. In the evening, there is an open air plaza that is a fun place to socialize. There’s a small fountain and different sitting areas, including one with a fire pit. Also a grumpy camel if you want to take a short ride. We would definitely return and stay here again.

Have been here several times. Very nice hotel with the aspect of a local old village. Friendly staff. A pita that the swimming pool is closed betonning of November. I understand that for the Jordanian it is winter, But for is Europeans it feels like late springtime here…

This hotel was truly spectacular! It was full of character and charm. The food was delicious and the service very attentive. Make your stay in Wadi Rum and Petra even more memorable with a restful stay at the Hayat Zaman. Enjoy your stay at this spa and resort
