A truly miserable and disappointing experience from check in to check out. After 9.30pm the only room service is a fruit or cold cut plate (until 11pm)… we found this out as we arrived after a long flight at 10pm. Both restaurants are fine dining with limited menus unless you want bar snacks. Poor service at lunch. Bread thrown at the table as waitress walked past. No side plates given, butter, salt and pepper, etc. Starter was not as ordered… waited over 20 mins for our plates to be cleared and not asked if everything was ok despite leaving nearly the whole dish. Our waitress barely looked at us or our table… we constantly felt like an inconvenience to the staff. Bedroom was ok size but furniture was oddly placed. Comfy bed. Toiletries were non-existent. 2 sad pumps in the shower and one over the sink. Lacked any kind of atmosphere which was impressive given the hotel was fully booked. Pool area was small but had comfy loungers. No service - if you want a drink you had to go to the bar yourself to get it. Access to the beach if you’re feeling adventurous and an accomplished rock climber. Building works next to our room which we weren’t made aware of or an offer to change our room. Limited English speaking staff which resulted in quite a few miscommunications ie coke instead of Diet Coke (which turned out they didn’t have anyway). Mini bar was a joke. One 500 ml bottle of water complimentary in the room (250ml each). Balcony without a view. Called to let them know we’d be checking out 2 days early… first thing they said was not “is everything ok” it was, “you’ve already paid”. 5€ for an ice bucket!! Grounds mostly well maintained but needed more regular cleaning. Over an hour from Roland garros airport (the local airport close to the hotel is for domestic flights only) and 165€ each way. Over priced, pretentious and a waste of 3 days holiday.

Hello The Palm Team, What a wonderful welcome and support ! You are amazing and we want to thank you again from the bottom of our hearts.... Our journey was far from being the one we expected since my husband had a myocardial infarctus as soon we arrived, he spent 6 days in intensive care in Saint-Denis and you were there for me, for him, with all your warmth and support. Thank you soooo much for your support, your flexibility, your help and your smiles, what a kindness, what a service ! This hotel is amazing, the rooms, Lodges and Pool Lodges are just heavenly beautiful, the service is excellent and the food is tremendous ! You are the beauty of La Reunion. Thank you so much Philippe and Stephanie

This hotel oozes luxury, definitely warrants its five star rating. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The restaurant is lovely and great food. The pool area is beautiful. Loads of different seating areas and everywhere is so comfortable. The accommodation is so comfy amazingly comfy bed and we had two adjoining rooms which was really handy. Nothing was too much of a problem, and they were very accommodating and flexible. The beach is a bit of a walk, but worth it. It’s beautiful and nice and quiet.

Extremely disorganised. Making double reservations and then contacting us saying sorry they have double booked the room. I should have known from that second to rather just cancel. Nevertheless, the experience was pathetic and unacceptable. Terrible food and drinks - the cuisine is mediocre is an overstatement and the service is shameful. No chaffier or transport services offered to even get to a restaurant 3 minute drive away which you’d expect from a “five star hotel”. The only thing five star about the hotel is the view and we are disgusted that we had informed the hotel that my grandmother had fallen extremely ill and I needed to catch a flight the next morning. I had to get WiFi as the room WiFi wasn’t working and I had communicated to the receptionist that I need to speak to my family - I was giggled at. 0 decency. The technician was unable to fix the issue - “shocker” They were unable to accommodate even a partial cancellation or even any compensation. I am appalled by how deceiving the hotel looks online and once arriving it is 1000% not as the pictures display the hotel online - rundown and outdated. The highlight for me is how they could not send a car or even staff member to collect us at 8pm at a restaurant down the road (3min drive) and we would have had to walk 20 minutes on a winy road up a mountain in the pitch black dark. Thank goodness we could get a ride from two patrons at the same restaurant as taxis are basically non-existent here. Absolutely 0 consideration for guests and a tourist trap to say the least. Sold a dream and left in a nightmare. Do not stay at this disgracefully overpriced establishment with terrible guest service and that’s the tip of the iceberg. Save your money.

Amazing hotel. The staff was very helpfull, quick and friendly. The breakfast ( we had B&B option) was plenty with enough variarity. The pool was amazing and the fact of having AND a heated pool (30 degrees), a jacuzzi and a normal pool ( 23 degrees) was a nice touch. The view of the ocean was amazing!

We stayed at this hotel as part of a trip to Mauritius and La Reunion Island. We loved the island and it was very pretty and loads to see. The hotel had pretty grounds and a great view across the sea, the room was clean with a large bathroom and balcony. There are 2 swimming pools one of which is heated and there was never a problem getting a sun bed. There were a couple of things I was disappointed with, especially in view of the type/ class of hotel - there were titles broken on the way into the pool area and in it and the lose ones had not been cleared or dealt with, so when stepping into the pool u had to avoid the sharp shards of tile - whilst I dont expect staff to speak English when I am on holiday, when they promote this service and then call you to see how things are going, it was annoying that they couldn't even understand basic questions - for example "what time does the Tapas close?" - breakfast was great but they leave out spoons for the jams' which the sparrows eat from and I dont really want to share with them!! There are a few restaurants near the hotel but these are generally only open for lunch and not everyday, so unless you have a car you are restricted to eating in the hotel - whilst the food was good and a wide selection it was expensive, but then it is a five star hotel (£25 for a club sandwich or a Burger, £30 for a curry and £7 for a pint of beer) - Overall the island is very expensive whether food, excursions or accommodation but despite this I would recommend visiting the Island but may choose an alternative hotel.

We stayed at the Palm for the final few nights of our month-long honeymoon, split between Mauritius & Reunion. We choose the Palm for its 5 stars as a special treat. Having spent 4 weeks in this region we were now accustomed to the extremely high food prices & lack of overall food quality. The Palm met these same expectations to a degree - the food is eye wateringly expensive. If you eat in their Tapas bar the quality is truly AWFUL - however, if you eat in their cheffed restaurants (which is fine dining), the quality is very good and worth the high price - but only just! And also only if you’re into this style of dining (we’re not really, but happy for the experience over a short period of time). Besides the food, the Palm has a number of good qualities. The service, the car valet and the beautiful cliff-top setting with special touches like whale watching. I must also make a noble mention of therapist SHIVA who works in the on site Akea Spa, I had a massage with him and it was truly sensational! However there are some down sides to the hotel. The rooms are dated and sadly do not give you the feeling that you’re in a 5 star resort. For example, I expected some beautiful complimentary toiletries (shampoo ect) but instead it’s just a sad looking pump on the shower wall! The Grand Anse beach is 15 mins away although it isn’t particularly scenic (this is true of most Reunion beaches!). Finally, there was also an unpleasant smell of manure around the hotel during the evenings - it meant we didn’t want to sit on our balcony. I think the hotel may be located near a farm or other agricultural building? In general the hotel just lacked a bit of the wow factor which you want, considering the prices paid. That all said I had an enjoyable & memorable stay, but I would not agree with the 5 star rating.

We stayed in a Pool Lodge room at the Palm for two weeks as part of our honeymoon, and we couldn't have picked a better spot. The room itself was absolutely incredible (the photos don't do it justice), we loved the on-site bar and restaurant and the bell that would sound every time a passing whale was visible from the observation deck, and Grand Anse beach (which turned out to be our favorite one on the island) was only a quick 10-minute walk from the property. Everyone at the hotel, from the front desk staff and the concierge team to the restaurant staff, spa staff, and housekeeping staff, were wonderful, and went out of their way to make sure that we had a comfortable and relaxing stay, even with our minimal French. We'll definitely be staying here again the next time that we're in Réunion.

We had a great stay at the Palm. Excellent facilities and very helpful and friendly staff that could assist in English. Wide selection of drinks and food, excellent views to Grande Anse beach and scrumptious breakfast!! Good location for a South Reunion Experience, staff very knowledgeable as to tourist excursions and sights. They were also giving great tips as to the excursions etc. Could also note their commitment to the Ecolable Ethos. Would highly recommend!!
