Starting from the Manager Ludi, Muriithi, all the way to our servers Juliet, Francis and James. The food!!! Every bite tells a story of culinary excellence, Kudos Edwin. Our wonderful safari experience at Masai Mara was complemented by an equally wonderful stay at the Sopa lodge. The buffet meals were very tasty and provided a lot of vegetarian, non vegetarian and healthy meal options. A variety of fruits, vegetables and desserts were available during all meals. The staff were very kind and made us feel welcome. The room had good quality bedding and mosquito nets. Emmanuel, our room attendant was very sweet and deserves special praise for keeping our room really clean all throughout our stay. The night staff who do regular patrolling of the grounds also deserve special appreciation. Tea and coffee were available for free during the whole day and the bar had multiple good drink options. The swimming pool was always kept clean and offered a good view. The only comment which I would request the lodge to work on would to be to provide WiFi access in the rooms, as it is currently only available at the reception area. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend it to fellow travellers.

The best accommodation for all my safari experiences. All meals included. All hotel representatives are very professional and reliable. During my stay at the lodge everything went well as it was planned. My morning game drive and afternoon game drive were all magical. I will recommend this lodge to anyone willing to explore Masai Mara National Reserve.

We had a lovely time staying here while on safari. Our room was lovely and we were well looked after, The food is Buffett style with plenty of choice and the staff are amazing. We can’t fault anything and I even used the pool which was cold but refreshing after a long day on safari.

Unfortunately the paper thin walls a lack of quality. The Buffet style meals was OK – – except with a large crowd was not very convenient. Would book here again, but only after discovering other hotels in the area.

This lodge was just like the other Sopa lodges we stayed in, but the rooms had paper-thin walls. We heard everything our neighbors said and did. That said, we were usually too tired at night to mind (even though the beds were hard). The common areas were lovely and the staff quite attentive. We had baboons and zebra right outside our door! The buffet food was plentiful but a little one note.

The lodge, the people, the location - everything is 10/10. The wifi is only available at the reception area which is a big plus or you’d be stuck on your phone missing out on the many beautiful experiences this place has to offer. Joseph is a local Masai who works at the hotel is the most helpful person I came across here. LOVED EVERY BIT OF THIS.

We stayed 2 wonderful nights in Sopa. A large restaurant offers great variety of food (including both local and western-style cuisine) and all their staff is very friendly and professional. They provide face masks and encourage customers to wear them by the buffet, when serving food. The rooms are spacious, very well maintained, they apply mosquito spray every evening. Renting a hair dryer wasn't a problem, just ask at the reception (deposit was $20). Our room was located approx. 5 mins walk from the main building and climbing it felt a bit like climbing a Kilimanjaro (as one of the Massai carrying our luggage jokingly said). Altitude is 2100m so if you are feeling a bit unfit, you may want to ask for a room that doesn't require going uphill. As usual in the parks, electricity is from a generator but it is offline while you are going to be in the park, so it should not be a problem :-) Before their guests leave for afternoon game drive, complimentary coffee&tea (plus something sweet as well!) are available in a common lounge with a fireplace and a bar. People gather there also in the evenings to chat, socialize, or enjoy an animation programme.

Nice place to stay in Masai Mara. Very traditional place, mostly local staff with local knowledge I.e. our waiter lived in the local masai village. Traditional style lodges, basic but beautiful. Electricity is only on certain hours of the day/nigt, although hot water is always on. Decent food selection, although sometimes it wasn't the hottest. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Lovely large bar area around a fire place to relax in the evenings. Nice swimming pool but it was quite cold this time of year! Only 15 minutes or so drive from one of the Masai Mara gates, although you're technically within the park here anyway, it's more of a check point. Lots of wild animals can be seen around the lodges, which is why security will escort you to and from your room during darkness. Nice place to stay if you're wanting that authentic safari feel. You can visit a local masai tribe. Officially you can walk there, it's not too far but I'd recommend having a driver take you down as the path is not clear and there are wild animals around! You pay $20 per person to the village chief who will show you around, explain their culture etc. This money is apparently shared with local tribes towards eduction for children. One of the tribesmen then walked us back up to the lodge. I suggest wearing closed toed shoes to walk around the village and back to the lodge.
