I stayed here while watching the autumn leaves of kochia at Hitachinaka Seaside Park. Location: Access is by taxi, so even though it's out of the city in Oarai, it was close to the seaside park. The sea is close and you can hear the sound of the sea from your room, but the hotel is located on a slightly higher ground across the road and surrounded by a pine forest. The aquarium Aqua World is a 3-minute walk away, but it actually takes a little longer to cross the intersection below the hotel (the traffic lights change slowly). It's so close that even though it rained that day, we were able to get there on foot without having to call a taxi, even with someone in a wheelchair. If you have your own car, it seems OK to park it at the hotel and go to the aquarium. If you take a walk and cross the Naka River, the Nakaminato Fish Market is also within walking distance. The price was higher than usual, probably because it was a weekend during the kochia autumn foliage season. Due to the conditions, there were not many accommodation options, and it was still cheaper than others, so I chose it. I feel that there is a big difference between weekdays and Saturdays at hotels in this area. Check-in After making a reservation, I received an email with instructions for smart check-in, but I was unable to enter guest information. When I confirmed this in advance, I was told that they could handle it at the front desk, so I checked in at the front desk as usual on the day of the reservation, but the information required by smart check-in, such as the nationality and address of the guest, was actually not required when making a reservation. The name of the representative at the time, etc. is enough. The check-in code that had been issued was also unnecessary. There will be two dinner shifts, 5:45pm and 7:45pm, and we ask that you enter the room after check-in and then scan the QR code to specify your time. I applied at check-in because it would be a hassle twice. It seems that orders for drinks such as beer can be arranged using that code, but I couldn't actually read it and use it, so I'm glad I specified it at check-in. There is a gap between replacements, so when the first slot is filled, it seems like you will be forced to go to the second slot, which is a bit of a problem. If that's the case, I'd like to make arrangements by soliciting requests in advance. By the way, there was also a rotating system at breakfast. At breakfast, we don't even ask you to confirm your preference; we automatically sort the number of people in one group. It might be worse than dinner time because they didn't listen to your wishes. The first session was at 7:00 for groups of 4 or less, and the second session was at 8:30 for groups of 5 or more. The journey on the day was slow and there were no problems, but if you have more than 5 people and want to leave early, you will need to make a change at check-in. Meals Dinner was a delicious Japanese and Western standard kaiseki meal, pie-wrapped soup and roast beef. The breakfast buffet is a normal Japanese/Western style, so I have no complaints. The menu was well stocked. However, the trays come in two colors, white and black, and I was a little worried that the black ones were dirty, probably from leftovers from washing. Rooms/Facilities The rooms face the pine forest, which is 90 degrees different from the sea side, but the price difference is small, so if there is space, we recommend the sea side. The rooms facing the sea also have a pine forest in front of them, so the view may vary depending on the floor. This time I couldn't get a seaside view, so I stayed on the pine forest side, but if I opened the window and looked in, I could see the sea. It seems to have quite a history, so it's old-fashioned, but it's clean. Wi-Fi and air purifier are available, and the TV size may be small considering the size of the room. I wasn't expecting a bath because of the location, but I made a happy miscalculation and have been using a hot spring since 2019. It's a cold mineral spring, so it's heated, but it's a sodium chloride spring. I don't notice much of a chlorine smell. There is also an open-air bath with a roof, but there are enclosures on all sides so there is no view of the ocean. However, considering its size, the indoor baths and Karan are small and can get crowded depending on the time of day. There were only a few people in the bath this time around 5pm, so it was comfortable. It seems that Emperor Showa once stayed there (it's in a separate building and hasn't been demolished yet), but it seems that a lot has changed, including the management, due to the coronavirus pandemic. There was a closed restaurant, the main dining room on the second floor (which was moved to the first floor of the main building), and what looked like a deserted tennis court. The structure of the current dining hall also seemed a little strange. Overall, I feel that the contents of this time are worth the average price.
