Our room was a far cry from the room quality shown on the website. Bed was creaky, damaged, and uncomfortable. No sleep. No alarm clock, hair dryer, fridge, or microwave . I could understand the lack of conveniences for a historic building, but our room was clearly built as an add-on extension off the original building and in the style of a 50’s era bi-level motel. The room was clean- but still one of the saddest ‘hotel’ rooms I’ve ever seen. Nowhere in the neighborhood of 5 , or 4 or even 2 stars. Upon opening the door, we were hit by a perfumed detergent smell that was overwhelming. No problem, we’ll call the front office! No phone. I went down to the office and was given a box fan to clear out the smell- best they could do. It was in the 30s outside so our room was freezing once it stopped smelling. We decided to tough it out despite the clear under-delivery on the room ( and it was late). One member of the lounge staff was blatantly rude and unprofessional. Confirming dinner with the front office was a tense debate over who’s fault it was that we were not given a reservation time upon booking. However, Dinner was very good, and the dining waitstaff and bartender were great. I can understand the housekeeping difficulties due to being short staffed, which I expect to be the case, but the attitude we saw from the lounge waitress and the hugely misleading room photos were just ridiculous. Will not be going back. Too bad because the main building is cool with a lot to offer. Oh yea- they seem to really prefer the locals in the lounge, maybe thats where all the 4 and 5 star reviews come from. BUYER BEWARE.
