Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel

Norfolk|0.58km from St. Paul's Episcopal Church
We checked in on May 13, 2023. Not happy at all from the start.................... First off lets start with the front desk.... 1. The front desk associate was highly rude to my family and I, upon getting to the front desk he gave us a head nod for us to proceed to the desk ( not professional at all) We did not get a hey how are you, welcome to the Sheraton none of that!!! The response that we got from the associate was” this is how I talk to everyone” If this is the case then the front desk is not where he should be working at all. However, there was a young man Tyquorie I think that is his name that works at the front desk he was very sweet when I went back to the front desk to ask for assistance. 2. We get upstairs to our room and I instantly pull back the sheets and there is hair in the beds and the mattress pads are dirty. To put the icing on the cake the corner of the mattress was disgusting... I did not want my children nor myself and girlfriend laying in that, but all the surrounding hotels were sold out and we were there celebrating my moms birthday. When I approached the housekeepers he got upset with me because I asked for clean bed linens and her response to me was ”I just cleaned the room and she was not gonna change the sheets” this made me even more upset than I already was. The housekeeping supervisor (Kenneth) he was awesome, I showed him what I was talking about and he attempted to get me straight. 3. The room had a 32 inch television that sat in the corner of the dresser 4. When we got into the room we only had 1 wash clothe ( it was 4 of us in that room) I went down too the front desk and asked for 3 towels and 4 wash clothes (at 6 pm) and we never received them. I then called at 7:30 and asked again and did not receive them, the third time I called I was told that they could not give me what i was asking for. Then at 9:30 someone knocked on our door with linens. I work at a hotel and no one should be treated like this at all!! It was really sad honestly. I most likely will be contacting corporate office about this because I know all hotels have a standard and I am pretty sure that this is not acceptable at all. I expected so much more from the Sheraton on the water in Norfolk VA!!!! The sad thing about it is that I was hoping to have a great experience. We did not at all!! Not even worth $243.00 per night

The room was large so we were able to spread out however, there were only 3 small drawers to put our stuff in. They could put a taller/wider dresser with more drawers in for more storage options. There was a shelf over the sink in the bathroom so we had extra storage in there which was great. There was only one hook for all of our towels, not convenient when trying to dry multiple towels. Water pressure was great. Some of the staff was really nice, some seemed like we were bothering them. Breakfast staff was amazing and helpful. Breakfast was ok at best. We had to use the business center and there was a roach on the wall. I told the front desk and they didn't seem concerned about it.

the Pros -- Great Location, Awesome staff !!! , spacious rooms, great views from floor 6 and 8 , nice pool and hot tub, good exercise room, comfortable bed, good breakfast , the Cons -- slightly pricey/expensive, washer/dryers only took quarters, a few repairs are needed (minor dents, scratches, broken items --- but all were acceptable and did not interfere with our stay ) , had to pay to park (approx $19 per day) We Greatly enjoyed our stay here . I DO Highly recommend this place. Very satisfied with our stay/experience

The staff at this property are all great!! Especially Terri she’s absolutely amazing and nice to my husband and I. She’s always so welcoming. We stay here every other week for business trips and she’s always so kind. Rooms are clean dishes are left inside dish washer. Only thing is that the hallway smells of smoke in different parts of the building but other then that everything great!

We chose this hotel because we were traveling with a pet and it had the best reviews for the location. It was ok but not up to the usual standards of a Candlewood. The room was basically clean except for the dish cupboard which hadn’t been dusted in a long time. The bathroom sink wasn’t draining well and no one came to fix it despite a request. The dog park area was filthy and I was concerned about having my dog use it. During the week, the guests seemed a bit rough and I encountered an unmasked man who had clearly just been in a fight, given the condition of his face. Over the weekend, more families arrived and the rough folks left. The pros are the location and the staff. Everyone was friendly and kept masks on at all times. There was a bowl of sanitizer at the desk to put keys into. We were on the first floor quite near an exit, which kept us from disrupting other guests. Despite the negatives, it was close to my son’s house and we would give it another try if we were traveling with the dog.

Hotel staff was friendly and helpful as I had to make three different changes to how long we were going to need a room. Breakfast was standard with the notible exception of no cinnamon rolls available. The shower curtain rod needed some maintenance as the center of the rod hung down an inch or so from the edges. This caused the shower curtain to slide toward the center of the tub and causing each end of the shower curtain to pull away from the wall and allowing water to spray outside of the shower and spread all over the floor. The toilet rocked from side to side as well.

I am so happy they are doing the full breakfast again! I always stay at this hotel when I'm in the area. I refer my friends and family to this location as well. It is located in a great spot right next to the outlets.
