Hotels near Makiryoko Memorial Museum, Niigata

The hotel is a good choice for small group of traveller. I am impressed by the low price and excellent hygiene of this hotel. The view is panoramic to the harbor. However, the air-conditioner sometimes does not work and we have to call the front desk to turn on the cooling for the room every other day. There is no gym room or facilities in the hotel except the lower floors of the building is indeed a famous art museum and exhibition or some sort. It could be interesting to visit the museum. Hotel in Japan seldom comes with gym facilities so I am not too annoyed by that.

First of all, it is quite close to Niigata Station, about 10-15 minutes walk. There are many restaurants or izakayas nearby, and of course there are also convenience stores. The front desk is on the second floor, so whether the elevator goes up or down, it has to stop on the second floor, which is a bit speechless. It was already past 7pm when I went there. When I arrived on the second floor, I found a lot of people gathered, all holding forms, and they seemed to be from Southeast Asia or South Asia. I thought I would have to wait slowly to check in, but later I found out that they seemed to be conducting an interview or something like that. Anyway, there was only one person in front of me checking in. After I finished checking in, they were still sitting and writing, and checking in only requires a signature. The room is not big, just like a normal business hotel in Japan. It doesn’t matter if you only stay for one night anyway. You can store your luggage for free after check-out the next day.

Since it is a sunroute brand, there is a sense of security as an inn for traveling alone. However, among the many sunroutes, the facility is quite old. The key is made of old-fashioned metal and is not automatic locking. The air conditioning is also controlled as a whole and there is no room. The bathtub is also old. It is about a 5-minute walk from Mandaiguchi, Niigata Station, and there is a convenience store right in front of you. Amenity is now a type that picks up by yourself at the front desk. I didn't use the buffet because I stayed without meals this time.

One of our favorite hotels that we stayed at on our tour. The layout of our room was great as the bathroom was spacious and a little further away from the beds as compared to the other rooms we stayed at. The room was super clean, the breakfast buffet was very yummy and the best part is that we could login to netflix! Such a funny but convenient perk.

Even though this hotel was getting old but we very likes their service. Their cleaning service were very satisfied and we feel warming that the cleaner helped to replace my non dried clothes on the hotel towels. This action really bravo!

We stayed here for 1 night but unfortunately the aircon in my room was spoilt, we informed the hotel staff and instead of fixing they told us to live with it and tried to struck off the matter… seriously even though we stayed only 1 night we shouldn’t be treated like that

We stayed two nights at the JR East Hotel Mets at the Niigata station after arriving from Tokyo by Shinkansen. I think we exited to the western concourse and signs to hotel were easy enough to follow. The walkway enters level 3 of the hotel. Very conveniently, right next to a 7-Eleven. Also super convenient is the sake museum. Definitely must visit. Check-in was efficient and we were given rooms on the top floor (level 9). A rather basic room that has everything except for an in-room safe. No coffee (nor bottled water) was provided with the kettle but only tea. Not a problem as free coffee can be made in the waiting area next to the reception. Also in the reception area is where more bathroom amenities are provided. Only toothbrushes are in the room. The bath area in the room is large with a wash area and a stool like at the onsen along with a bathtub. That’s where a visit to the amenities area in reception comes in handy. Wifi was speedy enough for our needs. The convenient location was great for us as we arrived in the rain. There is plenty of choices for food and even shopping. Do explore around. We did buy day passes for the Niigata City Loop Bus (JPY500 per adult). Check-out was as efficient as check-in. While there wasn’t much of a view, the hotel was just right for us. Definitely worth considering

The hotel is very close to Niigata Station and Bandai Commercial Bus Center. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from Niigata Station. You will pass by a street filled with almost all izakayas. There is a 7-11 on the street, and there is a LAWSON as you approach the hotel. , although the equipment in the hotel is a bit old and the room space is not large, it does not affect the use and is acceptable. Free Wi-Fi is provided. The service attitude of the counter staff is very good. You can communicate with them smoothly using translation tools. The counter and restaurant They are all located on the second floor. There are toiletries and tea bags next to the counter that you can take by yourself. There is also a coffee machine for drinking coffee and making tea. There is also a small space next to the elevator on the second floor that has a vending machine and a microwave oven. It should be noted that although the hotel provides room cleaning services for guests staying for more than 3 nights (inclusive), the front desk staff must be notified before 9 a.m. every day before staff will be sent to clean the rooms. If there is no special notice, the hotel will only provide additional room cleaning services. Bath towels, bathrobes and slippers are provided and left outside the door. In addition, the hotel also provides luggage storage service after check-out, but it needs to be retrieved before 2 pm on the same day. The overall accommodation is not bad, the transportation is very convenient, and it is only 7 minutes away from the Bandai Commercial Bus Center, so shopping is also very convenient convenient.

Stayed for １ night watching soccer. It is a little far from Niigata Station, but within walking distance. The surrounding area is comfortable for shopping and playing in the downtown area. It is also close to the bar. The hotel itself is old, but it is perfect with a chic design. It is enough to sleep in a single room. The restroom is also an old-fashioned washlet. Breakfast is buffet and you can enjoy Niigata local food. It is a hotel that I want to use next time.

My family and travelled to Niigata at the end of April 2023 and had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Okura Niigata. Prior to the trip, I had reached out to them via email to inquire about coordinating a van + driver for us (6 of us) so that we could go visit some sake breweries and to make dinner reservations for us at a nearby restaurant. The concierge team was amazing and booked a large van (jumbo taxi) and driver for the day. they also ensured that the van could accommodate a folding wheelchair for one group member that needed it. The van and driver arrived on time and was quite reasonably priced. Great experience that was made possible by the hotel team! Upon return to the hotel, we realized we had left some items on the van - the hotel called the taxi company and coordinated the return of our items. Beyond these experiences, the hotel itself is a bit older but rooms are comfortable and fairly spacious for a hotel room in Japan. Location is great and the breakfast buffet was one of the better ones we had on this trip. If I should ever travel back to Niigata, I will most definitely be staying here. The hotel and team won my business by going above and beyond...even for Japan standards of customer service! Domo arigatogozaima****a!!!
