I cannot recommend this hotel especially at the prices they charged. Arrived at 5.30pm and room wasn't ready. They then said it was and gave us a smaller room than we had booked and paid for. When we said so they told us ”Americans have a different idea of what king-sized means”. An hour later they called and agreed we had indeed booked a bigger room and offered to move us to one with a king bed. The man from reception then took us to said room without offering to help us with our luggage. Just stood and watched us drag our bags across the carpeted corridors ...All I can say is it was 3 star service and quality at VERY high prices. The next morning we moved to an absolutely world class hotel which was ten times nicer and less expensive. Over-priced, outdated and obnoxious staff.

The hotel room is very small, the windows are small, and there is no balcony. The room is newly decorated and tasteless, the bedding is very good, the bed is comfortable to sleep on, the bath water is small, the bathroom is small, and the washstand is cramped. There is no pool and the gym is small. The breakfast is semi-buffet, the taste is not bad, and the choice is small. The service staff are enthusiastic.

The rooftop with view and swimming pool is absolutely sublime, it is very pleasant, the staff is very careful and small care, only negative point, the spa is slightly disappointing, The facilities are old, not very well decorated and lighted, it doesn't value the spa, it lacks a jacuzzi but the spa staff is super top, and they make the best massage. The best 5 stars in Nice are in a price-quality-level! And the fact that not being at the sea front, but we are still not far from 10 minutes walk and the ballade is very nice, is really offset by the rooftop that is the best point of the hotel.

The location of the hotel is very good. Turn left and then turn left to Gabor Square. There is a large supermarket next to the square and many restaurants in the surrounding area. It is not far from the Old Town of Nice. Breakfast is typical ibis style and ok. However, no extra bed is available in the room. The facilities are complete and the rooms are clean and tidy. Parking lot access is not very convenient, the aisle is narrow, and parking spaces are very laborious. The car I drove was relatively large and not very convenient. There is also a city tax on parking fees. The warmest thing is that there is boiling water and free snacks in the lobby. Although I didn't eat snacks, I made tea several times. Especially suitable for Chinese. 👍

A small, pleasant hotel a few meters from the sea promenade. There are restaurants in the vicinity and 2 supermarkets opposite the hotel. Distance from the railway station 15 minutes on foot, from the tram from the airport 8 minutes on foot. The hotel rooms are smaller, which is standard in France. The staff at the reception and in the restaurant were very pleasant and helpful, on the last day we got breakfast at 6:00 a.m., despite the fact that it was officially only from 7:30 a.m. The hotel provides luggage storage for early arrival or late departure. We got a free upgrade to a superior room facing the courtyard. The room is new, clean, comfortable. The bathroom is also small but clean and well equipped. Cleaning and towel change was done every day and the cleaning was detailed. The breakfast was excellent (yogurts, cereals, ham, cheese, sausages, scrambled eggs, croissants, cakes, fruit, fruit puree, jams,...), the weak link was the coffee. The drip coffee in a thermos was weak, the coffee from the machine (cappuccino, latte, cocoa) was made of powder. At the bar, they have an espresso machine, with such a small number of guests, the bartender would surely manage to make everyone a normal high-quality espresso, and the guests would appreciate it.

If you are looking for a shiny, ten a penny, chain hotel (perish the thought) then Hotel Le Royal is not for you. However, I loved staying in this landmark building (a former palace) which is incredibly full of character. It may not be modern, but the hotel retains the elegance of France of the past. Location is excellent on the Promenade des Anglais and makes a very good base for exploring the Côte d'Azur. From the airport, the tram stop Alsace Lorraine is not far away. Staff are friendly, helpful and polite. Rooms are perfectly fine - and clean - with comfortable beds, a TV, bathtub and toiletries all provided. Lifts provide good access to the upper floors and the hotel looks lovely lit up at night. Breakfast was a little unimaginative, but an adequate continental buffet is available consisting of breads, pastries, yoghurts, cold meats, cheese and juice. I would definitely stay at Le Royal if in Nice again for a quintessentially French experience.

We stayed here in July. Booked two rooms - a superior room facing the promenade and a regular room with a city view. The sea facing room had a fantastic view but very tiny. The regular room was on the 5th floor. Had views of the mountains/hills and was massive. I was so worried prior to checking in given the bad reviews here. I noticed though that for some reason most Nice hotels have bad reviews! I had nothing to worry about at all. We arrived before 2PM and had our room right away. No issues with rude staff whatsoever. And no noise issues with the sea-facing room either. The only issue is it's a bit of a walk to the Old Town and the train station (uphill and doing this twice a day is quite tiring). But seriously I was in Nice for a week and I don't think I'll trade his hotel for any other hotel. Nice, further up closer to the train station, wasn't quite as ”charming and lovely” as having views of the promenade.

This hotel is in a fantastic location and is the best thing about it. We had asked for a quiet room on a high floor with a nice view. The room that we were given was on a high floor with noisy neighbours and a window that was too high up to see out of. The room was dark with not much headspace above the bed. There was a sofa bed in the room also which would obviously be good if you needed 3 people to stay in the room. The bathroom was painted in a dark red colour which just made the room feel quite oppressive. The shower leaked quite a bit onto the bathroom floor which was frustrating. Breakfast was not impressive. There were only a few tables in the breakfast room and there really was not a lot of choice for breakfast. Given that we were only there for 1 night, the room was adequate for our needs but we would probably not stay there again.

We returned to the hotel after a long break due to covid. The hotel was excellent in changing our reservations due to the continued covid and travel restrictions. We paid a bit extra for a deluxe room with sea view and although the hotel is not cheap, it is right on the seafront and only a few minutes walk to the bars, restaurants, city centre etc. There is even a bus stop close to the hotel if you want to travel from the airport without getting a taxi. A warm welcome from the staff, a clean and modern room with a view of the sea. The breakfast buffet is very good. We did not take dinner but walked to a pedestrian area with lots of eateries. The hotel restaurant looks good and was usually busy, but we did not see much on the menu to attract us. Perhaps next time. Overall excellent but we do have a couple of tiny tiny comments. ASometinmes the tea/coffees were not topped up in the room. There are not enough hangers in the wardrobe and no hooks on the backs of any doors so you could hang coats, robes etc. None of these items spoit the holiday break and we will go again.

We stayed here for 5 nights as part of a birthday celebration. We've always wanted to visit Nice and it was important to us to chose the right hotel. This gem exceeded both of our expectations. The location was perfect with its beautiful garden, which seems very unique to any of the other hotels in Nice. What we loved was that it's situated on a quite street far enough away from the buzz of the more touristic areas and yet a close enough walk to everything you need and want to see. A 4 min walk to the tram stop, 10 mins to the train station, 5 mins to the sea front, 15 mins to the old town. The weather was thankfully very warm during our stay which meant we could enjoy our balcony terrace all the more. The complimentary treats on arrival were a lovely touch. The warm and friendly staff are what really makes the experience special so huge credit to the lovely general manager and his wonderful team for helping to make our stay so memorable. Our stylish room was really nice and clean with large comfortable bed and a shower that I didn't want to get out of. The water pressure was fantastic like a good shoulder massage. We stayed in the junior suite which meant we could relax after a long day on the sofa with a cup of tea and complimentary brownie available at reception. The downstairs reception areas were lovely spaces to sit and relax too. Breakfast was absolutely spot on and each morning, the choices plentiful and of high quality. We took full advantage of what was on offer and it kept is going for our daily excursions. It was also good to have the choice to eat outside in the garden at breakfast given the warm sunny weather. Again all the staff were so friendly, professional and helpful so thank you very much. We would happily return here and highly recommend this hotel.

Fabulous hotel. My daughter and I spent 5 days in Nice and stayed at this hotel. I honestly cannot fault it. The staff were lovely, reception through to restaurant. We had a fault in our room on the 3rd night, it was addressed very quickly and we were upgraded to a beautiful room. It’s proximity to the main town ( Prom des Anglais) and Nice Ville train station was approximately 5/10 mins (in opposite directions). The pool was lovely and tranquil (and so cold, which in that heat you need). It really was faultless. We will definitely be back next year.

I mostly enjoyed my stay here. It was clean. The staff was helpful, especially when I found myself bombarded by electronic cigarette use when in a room with a connecting door. They moved me to another room and took steps to protect me from it. I have asthma, and it affects my breathing and makes my ears pop. Hotels have a hard time enforcing it, but they really need to find ways because the problem has become increasingly worse in the last few years. The room had many windows and was very comfortable. The shower, like most showers in Europe had some problems. The showerhead kept falling and they didn't fix it properly, but you definitely have more space in their showers than most European showers since this is also a bath.
