Premier Inn Newark

My wife & I stayed two nights last week, Thursday & Friday as we were attending the Newark Quilting Show. We have stayed with Premier Inns many times over the years, up and down the country and one reason why I have always liked them is that generally they achieve a fairly consistent standard, usually. We have stayed at one in Whitstable & one at Yeadon close to Leeds/Bradford both of which were horrible but happily that was not the case last week. It was certainly busy when we arrived and it made me wonder whether it would be noisey but our room was in the main part of the building, right at the end of one of the corridors and was quiet. The only disturbance was during the early hours one morning when I believe a fellow guest went outside for a smoke and unfortunately couldn't do it quietly, obviously not the fault of the staff. First night we ate at the place, I think it was the Brewers Fayre and it was okay, I'm sure most of us will be familier with the brand. Two main courses, a pudding for one of us, a couple of drinks each and the bill was just under £60 which I thought was fair enough. I should mention the breakfasts which we had both mornings were really good value at £11 per head, plenty of choice. Our room was very clean although there had obviously been a leak in the bathroom at some stage and there was a slight smell of damp. The staff were all very helpful and keen to assist. Would we stay there again?? Yes I think we will, we will be doing the same show again this time next year and it is perfectly placed for the Newark Show Ground, less than 2 miles away and literally just off the A1.

As a couple we travel up north and its a 6 hour drive. 4 hours into our trip we arrive at the roundabout where the Premier inn is so stop because its the only place where you can get a cooked breakfast at 7am for £22 . we do the same when we return home. Every time we try the food it is a BIG let down. This time was the worst. we had our plates at 7.02 am and all the food was out sausage, eggs, beans, bacon, black pudding ,hash browns, mushrooms tomato's, it looked good but everything was cold. the sausages were cooked on top as always but underneath the sausage was flat and anaemic as were the sides . The dish washer is doing the cooking because they could not get the most simple item right and that was the beans. How is it not possible to heat baked beans? I had to sit with the little packets of butter for the toast in my trouser pockets whilst eating my cold breakfast in order to soften it think they stored them in freezer overnight . The coffee machine has been broken now on our last 4 visits. Don't waste your money or time stopping here, you will leave unsatisfied.

Lovely welcome at the front desk and very charming and helpful staff - even the cleaning ladies were welcoming and smiley. Restaurant next door - great breakfast something for everyone . Great bed - warm room . All clean and easy access perfect for an overnight stay . Even tea in the room .

Premier Inns have been our go to value overnight stay for years but recent experiences have been poor and this was the worst yet. Our room was scruffy, cleaners had missed broken biscuit next to the bed Shower ok and bed comfortable. Having to go outside to feed parking machine was ridiculous. Just add it to the room rate. Dinner was a disaster. Notices all over saying there was a massive supply chain issue. Surely it can't be that difficult to ship their basic menu around the country. Or buy stuff from the local supermarket. Medium rare steak came very well done, even though I flagged that I'd had problems in the past. Wife's not much better. Breakfast pretty bad too. Unfortunately the whole chain seems to be on the slide. Please get it back on track again.

Staff were great, parking was plentiful and the beds were good. But both of our rooms were too cold and couldn't be heated up. The tiny panel heater at one side of the room kept switching off, and this happened in both our rooms so must be a wide problem. Bathrooms need a refresh and shower cubicles installing. EV charger was broken as was the coffee machine.
