Very conveniently located near the station. The room was clean, and the staff were friendly. There's unlimited complimentary tea and coffee at the reception, available all day. They also offer a welcome drink where you draw lots to get sake, beer, or soda. You can swap the sake or beer for a soda if you prefer. The atmosphere truly feels like a traditional Japanese ryokan. I highly recommend this place.

We booked the Ryokan O for one night stay and wish we stayed for longer. They are well located for anyone seeking to do the Nakasendo Trail, the staff were incredibly friendly and they even upgraded us to a larger room than we had booked.

Staff was very nice, spoke English, and the room was more than adequate for our needs. Convenient location for Magome hike (via short bus).

Beautiful setting! The location is close to the train station and shops. The room is decent for a few nights.

We were just passing through Nakatsugawa doing some sections of the Nakasendo trail, and found this lovely ryokan by chance. It has been the single nicest place on our month long trip. On top of the room being lovely, everything was well thought out, clear translations provided, and they were so nice! Little things like that they provide extra extension cords on every room. Shower was good, beds were very comfy. Cannot recommend highly enough!

A wonderful guesthouse whose warmth I only fully appreciated after I left. No other hotel I've ever stayed in, before or since, has come close to this level of hospitality. Here you'll find a haven and be treated like family: tea, coffee, treats, and a peaceful place to relax. Thanks to the staff for creating such an atmosphere.

We loved this guest house. Pleasant common area. Helpful staff. Well located in town. Large room. Lots of resources for travellers hoping to walk the Nakasendo. Shared bathroom facilities were actually a bonus because the whole family could shower at the same time (in individual showers - which were very clean with great water pressure). Walls are thin but all guests/staff were considerate and the area is quiet at night so no issues.
