Hotel Breezebay Marina

Miyakojima|2.81km from Irie Bay observation tower
As a small business owner, I usually cut businesses a lot of slack but I have to speak up about an absolutely horrible stay at the Miyako Breeze Marine Bay Hotel (part of the Shigira Seven Miles Resort). We paid 1,400 USD for myself and my daughter for a three night stay. The room had cockroaches, a horrible poop smell came up from the bath trap and the beach at the resort was closed due to a “typhoon” the day before the typhoon arrived. All other beaches on the island were open so we rented a car and swam at five amazing beaches. The service at the hotel is horrible. I have lived in Japan for over twenty years and speak Japanese so language was not the problem. The worst experience was the last night I was eating with 20 friends and they said I could not get the course menu that night because “there was no more food”. I wanted to pay for the course but was told “no food”. I was last to join the dinner party so accepted to eat buffet. I was told four times by the assistant manger “not to share my buffet with anyone”. It was like I was five years old. Got the message -no sharing my buffet. However, When I sat with everyone else they served me the course appetizer as everyone else. I was confused, so before eating we checked that everyone else had their appetizer plate. Everyone else had their plates so I started eating the appetizer assuming maybe they found food. Half-way through the appetizer the waiter came up and took it away saying, “no you buffet”. I said ok, but let me finish so you don’t waste the food. He said “no throw away”. Absolutely crazy behavior. I served myself buffet all night (not a problem). Note: The course and buffet looked very similar. When coffee was being served out of a coffee carafe, I asked if I may have some since they were serving my party and again I was told “no you buffet”. It was being served out of a carafe, not being made one by one. The kicker was they had enough food for me to pay for the course meal in the end, and I was willing to pay the extra $20 :-). Horrible behavior from the staff. Worst Japan service I have experienced in 20 years!!! Please do not spend you money at the Shigira Seven Miles Resorts (which includes the hotel we stayed at).

The hotel is very hygienic and the bedroom is a bit small, but in such an expensive place on the island, this hotel is cost-effective. There is a bus directly to the airport at the airport. It is only the first bus that arrives at the airport in the morning. It seems to be 9 o'clock. The early flight will definitely only take a taxi. It is expensive to take a taxi on the island. The hotel has a shuttle bus that is close to the nearby beaches, golf courses, and German villages. But if you go to other attractions on the island, it is recommended to rent a car, although not cheap, but better than a taxi. The front desk will speak simple English and communication will be fine. The service is very good. In addition, the hotel only serves breakfast and lunch, no dinner. Next to the hotel is a small fat sheep and a croquet cow or a restaurant, which is also very convenient. The shuttle bus within the resort is very good, divided into blue and yellow lines. The hotel also offers free cable car tours, which is very cost effective.

Located in Shigira Beach Resort, the whole resort is very large with many hotels. This hotel is far from the sea, but the facilities are very good, indoor swimming pool, beach beds, viewing balcony everything, it is a small luxury hotel. Outside the window is facing the lagoon inside the hotel. There are six or seven sea turtles. The mascot of the hotel is the sea turtle. The service is first-rate, and the breakfast is also good, especially the semi-outdoor seats, and I feel happy during the meal. There are many restaurants in the resort, all of which can be used. The sunset in the stardust garden is beautiful, and you can have dinner there. The Nanfeng BBQ in the style of Ryukyu has a very large set menu. I recommend set C with Miyako beef. There is also Saikai, soba noodles and vegetable tempura are good. There are also German cultural villages, cable cars, and semi-submarine fish watching boats at Boai Beach in the resort. If you want to book a taxi to tour the island, you can ask the hotel staff to make an appointment, which is very convenient. The transportation in the resort relies on the hotel's battery car and resort minibus, which is more convenient. It's a pity that it is far from the sea and I didn't enjoy the beach much, but the hotel itself is enough to enjoy.

I decided to go to Miyakojima in a hurry to digest mileage and relieve stress, so I made a reservation without doing much preliminary research. Quite affordable in Shigira. There is a pool. Circulating bus is available. The bus stop is close. The room is very clean. There was no balcony, but it was a room with a view of the sea. There is no restaurant, but at night I ate at the restaurant in the resort by circulation bus, so there was no problem. There is a yakiniku restaurant within walking distance. For easy shopping, the cross point market is diagonally across the road. This is a souvenir center, but there are drinks, cup noodles, snacks, etc., so there is no inconvenience here.

I had a couple stay for 3 night. The view from the Coral Wing View Bathroom 7 floor was great. It was cloudy all the time during my stay, but the color of the sea looked very beautiful. Yonaha Maehama is a really beautiful beach. I didn't do activities in the sea because it was a little chilly, but I enjoyed walking around the beach and taking pictures. The room and bath are large and comfortable. It was also good that you could dim finely with the bedside light when you go to bed at night. On the second day, when I went a little late for the start time of breakfast, it was full and I took a walk in the garden for about 20 minutes until the seats were vacant. Breakfast should be served before the start time or shifted by about an hour. It was good to be able to relax using the late check-out of the comfort members on the last day. It was a fun trip to Miyakojima. Thank you very much!

Disadvantages: The hotel is old, the location is partial, and you have to take a shuttle bus to eat in another hotel or other restaurants in the resort advantage: The room is huge! Tatami is quite warm. There is a kitchen. You can buy your own food and cook vegetables. This is great! Just like at home! Super invincible balcony with sea view! The view is amazing! scenery is beautiful! The front desk of the hotel only speaks a little English. If you don't need to clean the room, you can get a 1,000 yen resort voucher, but you must tell the front desk in advance. The hotel has shuttle bus for airport and resort attractions, but please make a reservation with the front desk in advance. You must make an appointment in advance to eat at other hotels, and there is a car to pick up and drop off! This is also very convenient and solves the problem of hotel bias! Be sure to change some cash, basically there are very few places on the island with a card, except for hotels. If you want to go to other attractions on the island, you must charter a day trip, because taxi is really difficult.
