Meramec River Resort

The owners and staff are very nice, kind and helpful. We stayed in the Roost it was very clean and comfortable. The river was great and after a long day in the sun coming to our cabin was perfect. Highly recommend staying here. If you have any questions Richard will be quick to help. Thank you!

We came down for the weekend and had a great trip. Staff was friendly and helpful. Campsite are well maintained and clean. We were right off the river with a great view. Got to check out some if the cabins and they were nice and clean. I highly recommend!

We stayed one night at Meramec River Resort on Thursday, July 6th. Upon arrival they key they told us to pick up at the office did not unlock the room. We went back in forth to the main office 4 times to finally get in the room. Exhausting! No one knew which keys worked for the cabins. One we got in the room it was very dirty and had not been cleaned. There were bugs on the floor telling us they had not vacuumed the floor. You had to make your own bed. There were no wash clothes in the room. We stayed that night and left early the next morning. It was not an enjoyable stay. We emailed the owner of the resort requesting a refund and never received an email back. They were not responsive at all. We plan to returned to that area for recreation but will not stay at Meramec River Resort.

We booked The Falcon July 21-23. We arrived and check in was fairly easy, everyone was nice. When we got into the house we noticed everything was sort of dirty… cob webs on every corner of every door frame, floors looked like they hadn’t been properly cleaned ever. The fire place had a large spider hanging out on a web over a pile of soot, and chimney debris covering a piece of paper that we assumed was trash left from another guest, later we realized it was a sign management had put up that read “do not use”. We knew the bed situation was going to be odd going into it since the house slept 24. But here is my complaint with the beds, all of them except for the two bedrooms down stairs were up on top of one another so much so that it is safe to assume that it made cleaning around them difficult to impossible. The house was pet friendly as long as you consider mice poison out in the open in almost every room, pet friendly. You have to make your own beds and upon doing so we discovered that the bed my husband and I had chosen smelled like death. We had seen the poison so it was safe to assume it was a mouse. We decided to flip the mattress and box spring and remove the mouse as it smelled like it was behind the head of the bed. The box spring was ripped all over on the bottom but we didn’t pay much kind. Under the box spring was a very dead mouse decaying on the floor. We removed him and cleaned. The smell persisted. We looked again and discovered a chewed up mess of a mouse nest within the box springs along with another decaying mouse. We removed him, cleaned and thought okay, that’s it. But oh no, then we find a spider that looks suspiciously like a black widow, on the side of the box spring, right where our heads would be. We removed the spider and put everything back together, began to make the bed. Everytime you would put weight on the matress the stench of decaying mouse would burst out of the mattress. We didn’t get to the house until 7ish, the rest of our guests arrived between 8-9. We didn’t discover the mouse until after 10 and I wrote an email at 11 because the office was closed. Never got a reply to the email. I slept in my car the first night along side by husband. Saturday morning I went to the office to let them know, they said they would send someone to clean. Great! I was told I needed to come back after the float trip in the evening to talk to the owner. We returned back to the house after the float and they had put new sheets on the bed and sprayed some air freshener. Once again when you laid down on the bed decaying mouse would waft out at you. I did not go back up to the office that evening because honestly, I felt like it wasn’t my responsibility to need to check in again. I stupidly thought that someone would surely reach out to me, I booked the stay, and sent an email. There had obviously been some money spent on fixing up the old house but it was like money was spent on a large amount of live edge wood feautures- not

Hello, our group stayed at the Whoot Owl Cabin on Saturday the 15th with check out on the 16th. We shared our comments with the owners via email and received no response and wanted to share on social media. We WILL NOT go back again! We were disappointed in our experience. First, there was a dead mouse in the pull out couch in the front living room area. It had been dead long enough it did not stink thus had not been pulled out and checked in a long time. Second, the downstairs toilet had not been cleaned before our stay. There were urine stains from the group staying there before. We had to clean before using. Third, there were not enough linens provided for all the beds in the cabin. We slept upstairs. There were 4 beds and only 2 sets of linens provided. We understand this is a cabin and an outdoor experience. We looked over the bugs and spider webs. However I would expect these things to be better!

We booked a joint bachelor/bachelorette/30th birthday party here with almost 30 people between three different cabins. We stayed in the roost, the robin, and the early. The staff were awesome and went above and beyond for us. Offered to mail back the speaker we left there, and even gave us a ride to the gas station. The float was great & the cave on the river was awesome!

If you're wanting to film a horror movie... this is the place. The ambiance is perfect. Small, dark and creepy. The drive is rutted, loose gravel. Parking for the cabin was almost non-existent. The "cabin" was a one exit fire hazard with zero windows and no room to move around. The staircase, while beautiful, was a fall hazard just waiting to happen. Both from you falling due to the random heights between steps and the stairs themselves falling due to the rickety nature of the construction. It was filthy. Dirt and grime, discarded items from previous guests- who I must assume escaped in a rush, mouse droppings in the silverware. The upstairs bathroom had a shower head with a broken dresser directly where you'd stand with a hole in the floor. As the drain? A hole that apparently lead straight into the kitchen downstairs. The kitchens only resemblance to the photos shown was that there were appliances. Definitely not the same refrigerator. Even under all the filth. But it was a camp lodge right? Not a huge deal. Until we went to make up our beds. Covered in mouse droppings. One couch had mold growing on the mattress. The other with what we at first thought was a huge pee stain from a previous guest... but was maybe due to the dead, partially desiccated mouse that was folded into the mattress. That's when we packed up and left. We've called today for a full refund but so far have no response. As for the location... if you're camping you better hope it doesn't rain. We walked down to the river and most of the sites were flooded. There was a used diaper in the muck that I assume is their "beach" The public showers were passibly clean but confusingly labeled with both a sign saying "Women" and a sign with both male and female figures. The store was 3/4 empty and the people inside... possibly the owners? We're not welcoming. The ice available has half melted. Do not come here! The pictures lie. I can't image how they have a rating anywhere near as high as they do. I'd make it negative stars if i could. We drove hours to get here only to have to scramble to make other plans late in the evening. Our family weekend was ruined.

I just recently rebooked for a second stay and the cabin that was chosen wasn't the one we wanted (probably my fault) and I emailed and got a call as soon as they opened that my reservation was changed to the correct cabin!! Always have received 10/10 customer service and look forward to visiting again!

I loved the cabin. It was off season so it was quiet and convenient for us. The price per night was very reasonable for the cabin. I plan on staying again
