Hotel Dorado la 70

Medellin
Three men walked into my room during my stay unannounced while two of my roommates were undressed and hotel management won’t do anything about it!! I rented 9 hotel rooms and a conference room at Hotel Dorado for 30 leaders of my nonprofit org for 4 days. On day 2 of our stay a mysterious man bolted into our room unannounced and saw my roommate completely undressed. Why would someone outside of our party could have access to our room!? We went to hotel managers Joanna and Marco and they won’t do a single thing about it. They tell us it is not a big deal just “a matter of perspective”. Shortly after reporting this, Marco charged into our room with another man behind him completely unannounced, didn’t knock, just opened the door while yet ANOTHER girl was undressing and would not leave the room claiming he is trying to “fix the problem”. Marco and Joanna need to be fired! At this point all the girls in my organization were scared, some were crying, we all felt completely UNSAFE. The management was harassing us. They have camera’s on every floor and when we asked they claim there is no footage of these events (how convenient!!!) so now we are filing suit against them so they can release the footage to us. On top of all of this mental &emotional trauma my girls went through,I spent over $3,000 for hotel rooms, conference room, and hotel catering and the hotel won’t refund us for the services and rooms we didn’t use after the incidents. This would be THE VERY LEAST they can do.

I stayed in this hotel for 8 days in room 506, the hotel seems to be a little old but try to keep up to date to meet at least the basic needs of your guests. 1- The very careful reception staff and checking time take not more than 15 minutes, every day we asked the staff of the front of a recommendation of tourist sites to visit even though we already had a list at hand that We're armed before we leave home! After 7 days of being in the hotel and asking every day any recommendation to visit; one of the boys at the reception has extended us a book or guide to the city of Medellin😂😂 I suggest you make a small furniture and put the 2- The lift is old as from the 60s I think it is time to put a new one for safety issues especially if guests have children. 3- The rooms that give the main street are very noisy in particular the 506 and 505, I learned all the songs of the bar in front of the Karaoke. 4- The staff or keymaster did an excellent job since they kept my room very thin, my coffee shop was not served, the safetybox had no batteries, no refrigerator and no plates, I think everything is to be asked for me to understand how guests take everything when checkout. 5- The restaurant is a conference room, one day they made us breakfast in a small room next to the lobby because they had already a very early event all day, I think they could give a tortilla more at breakfast, If you ask for a extra charge you,in my case as they realized I would stay at the hotel for 8 days they didn't charge it!! 🤔🤔 6- The place where the hotel is seems to be very safe and near the metro stations.

Hotel Laureles Plaza

This hotel really is not suitable for tourist at the moment. The first time I stayed here in 2020 it was it was fairly good, the second time there were problems and now ONLY problems during the 4 days I've been here. During that time the water has cut off THREE times ! Today it cut out towards end of my shower. I had to go downstairs to the reception cloakroom to shave and clean my teeth etc. The man at reception told me he'd fixed it.  I went back up to my room and it wasn't working, even though it was on in other parts of my floor, but not in my room !? Back down to reception, back up to my room with reception staff, finally working ! The first night there was no TV signal. I've noticed that staff turnover is very high, the reception staff seem very indifferrent and even demotivated. When walking into the hotel thry don”t even pay attention to who you are !? I could be anybody, what about security ? The breakfast staff are nice but the service is somewhat chaotic ! You have to ask several times to get what you ask for. They seem to work in a panic instead of calmly, and taking away things I haven't even finished ! Example, I asked for Cornflakes with milk. The first time I got Fruit Loops with hot milk (!?) and said they didn't have any Cornflakes. I asked them again, so they went away and found some ! Then they brought me back Cornflakes with yogurt ! Finally got cornflakes with cold milk on 4th time of asking. Small thing but annoying ! 2 days ago they were bashing, hammering and dragging tables ALL DAY and into the evening above my room, for some function they were organizing. It doesn't take all day to do that !! Today again there was some hammering going on from 7 AM on a Saturday !! The hotel staff always smile at you snd say everything is OK etc AFTER the problems happen and try to appease you etc. but the guest here comes a very distant second !! Threy need to avoid or if not possible predict and at least INFORM YOU first about work going on, water being cut off etc, and have at least SOME respect for the customer !! Maybe Colombian people tolerate those things more ? But at the moment this hotel really isn't suitable for foreign tourists. I noticed I'm about the only one there at the moment, maybe its not a coincidence !? Very much doubt I'll be staying here again !!!

Sparkling clean. Easy access to transportation and also walk arounds if your plan is just go to eat or have a drink. Located above of Laureles area which makes it great to find night plans in a safe area. I highly recommend it, If you ate too sensitive to noises, just ask for a not exterior side, and high floor, it really worked for me. Curious thing, I loved the smell of everything new in there, cuz it’s literally a new Hotel that recently opened in that area 😃 You will not regret your stay; staff were very very nice too :)
Hotel Golden Palermo

My wife and I spent 3 nights at the Golden Palermo. The room was a bit small by North American standards but similar to what I have experienced in Europe, Central and South America. The room was spotless, lots of hot water and the AC worked well. The staff were very nice - housekeeping, restaurant and front desk. The neighbourhood where the hotel is located was upscale and very walk-able. A large mall close by and lots of restaurants.

I was incredibly disappointed with this hotel. The best thing going for it is the location. LOVED the location and it's really the only hotel in the area (Laureles). Sadly, I was disappointed with the facilities and the staff. To start, as soon as we walked in, the front desk lady was standoffish and it seemed like we were bothering her checking in. Then, when we got to our room, the air conditioning wasn't working- I asked for her to send someone up and they didn't. Again, I was clearly bothering her. Thus, the rest of our stay was so stifling (we were on the 8th floor and can't open windows) that we had to leave the door open at times just to get some airflow. The room was clean enough. Twice we weren't given any towels, which we had to ask for- which again, seemed like we were bothering the staff. The bed was huge, as was the shower. But the shower was in a room that sort of just flooded everywhere, including in front of the toilet. There was a safe and a mini-fridge. Breakfast was included, but was really awful. The food just wasn't fresh. We ended up going out for breakfast half our time there, which was disappointing. While we didn't use the pool (it says it's an extra charge), we stopped by to look one night and it's definitely not worth paying extra for. Overall, we absolutely loved the area- restaurants everywhere, safe, quieter and a great vibe, but I was incredibly disappointed in the hotel, especially the staff at the front desk. So unwelcoming.
Hotel Suite del Parque

Checked in to room 106, wifi signal does not reach the room, was changed to room 102, right next to the lobby. Walls were thin and hear everything from guests walking by to conversations in the lobby. It was tolerable until night time, a young female receptionist had 3 male friends visit her during her shift, that's fine just that I could hear everything. Their conversation began to disturb my stay. I walk out and see a group talking socially in front lobby, the receptionist and her male friends/visitors, when I return to my room, the conversation stopped 10 min later. As thin as the walls were, guests were rather respectful as I surprisingly slept like a baby.
