It was really nice to be in the authentic riad inside the city wall. I love visiting the local placed with local food. They welcomes me with a nice cup of mint tea. breakfast was good. I love the birds chirping every morning.

This Riad has seen better days but the welcome is warm and efficient. The room, large and air-conditioned, was clean and cleaned every day. All sites are less than 15 minutes away on foot. I highly recommend for backpackers and relaxed travelers. Chochotes, go your way. Unbeatable price/performance ratio.

Abdul and Karim were great during our entire trip. They came to pick us up from the airport at 2am for only €15 and were available whenever needed. The ryad has a nice rooftop to relax in the evening, a beautiful indoor swimming pool and an excellent breakfast. The excursions offered are quality (we went to Ouzoud). The Ryad is quite well located, 5 minutes from the Saadian tombs and 15 minutes from Jemaa-el-fna. I highly recommend the ryad for couples or families! A big thank you to Abdul and Karim for this wonderful stay!

We only stayed one night, and thankfully. Tucked away in narrow streets, it smelled very bad throughout the area. The room was up to the best located, just for photos Because it wasn't very clean. I found 3 cockroaches in the bathroom. Just to point out, that we ordered our breakfast as early as possible and the manager was preparing us the same night, several things to eat. But this was the only good point. Not to be repeated. The photos do not reflect reality.

I’m not quite sure how this Riad scores so highly. We have just returned from 4 nights In Marrakesh, booked via Tui in the UK. We arrived at the Mandalay and were told there was a problem and then quickly taken a few streets away to another Riad. We questioned what was going on but not really provided with an answer. This new Riad wasn’t at the same standard as the Mandalay by what we were led to believe by the Tui website. We called Tui who wanted to speak to the manager of the Mandalay to find out what was happening, we returned to the Mandalay but the manager refused to speak to Tui. Instead we were told a room was available. We were given a “family” room on the ground floor. The room was grubby to say the least. Dirty hand prints on the walls, gritty floor and mucky bathroom. The bathroom had a shower curtain instead of a door and no curtain around the shower. This wasn’t a wet room, just an unfinished bathroom. We were incredibly disappointed. After two nights we were able to change rooms. This new one was much nicer, still not worthy of the high TA review. Due to complaining to Tui the staff were rude for the duration of our stay. I would absolutely not recommend this Riad.

I don’t even know where to start but we arrived at the hotel and were very disappointed by the look of the rooms, particularly my parents bedroom. The lighting in the rooms is quite dark and dingy. Next the service, one of the staff members was quite rude to us. On the first day I asked if there was a breakfast menu and got told “this is a Riad not a hotel”. As someone using a service I found that very rude and off putting cos I just wanted to know what the options were. Breakfast was also very late. It was supposed to be between 8-10am but on some days I found myself waiting for 30 minutes before I was served. When they did serve the food, he served everyone else but me and I had to call him and ask to be served. The hotel price is very cheap which is why the standard and treatment is soo poor. If you want a nice holiday - avoid Riad Mandalay! I don’t understand how they have 4 stars to be honest 😫

2 couples traveling together on a cheap deal from TUI, we stayed for 3 nights. We were met at our transfer drop off and walked through the medina to the riad, first impressions were good, friendly staff and a warm welcome. We were shown to our rooms, the first of which looked as expected the second (room 4) was a lot smaller and very basic, no wardrobe, only one small dresser so even with our EasyJet sized cabin bags we had no room to store anything. The bed frame appears to have been home made out of rough cut cheap timber, the linen poor quality and worn to the point of being a small hole. But most disappointing of all there is no supplied toiletries except a very small bar of soap, totally inadequate for showing with, this was common to both rooms so not a mistake. We asked to be moved to another room but we’re told they were totally full. Pool was not on. Hammam is not on site but a couple of streets away. Transfers are not free. Rooftop terrace is ok. Breakfast is mostly bread and jam so very boring after 3. You get what you pay for in this life and I guess if you’re on a budget trip you can’t expect too much however you don’t get what they advertised at all.

Great location and large rooms. Rooms very tired and in disrepair. In bathroom cracks on wall, cracked mirror, loose electrical socket, cheap soap, hot water runs out quickly. In bedroom 2 broken plastic hangers in storage area in bedroom, no duvet just old blankets, dirty sofa, no kettle, no tv, no heating, net curtains let light in, wonky bed. In communal area no heating, old divan bed base for a table, no where to sit apart from breakfast tables. Breakfast is cold food only, orange squash, no milk for coffee, few guests come back for breakfast a second morning. Photos on website look nice but in person disappoint. Management disinterested in complaints. I couldn’t wait to get out of there.

We arrived for my wife’s 60th birthday to find they had double booked us and couldn’t accommodate us. Then we were greeted with arrogance and rudeness and an attitude of we don’t care, awful experience

We had a lovely large authentic room overlooking the courtyard and pool. There was no TV, but we didn't want one and no fridge, but there is a communal fridge. Abdul is the star - a kind, gentle, helpful guy who will simply do anything to make your stay a good one. This guy works his socks off! Had the best sleep/s as it is in a quiet area and although there is a courtyard where people sit and chat once 11pm came everyone was in bed and the owners keep it quiet. Breakfast is simple as others have described - bread, pancakes, honey and jam, juice, tea and coffee - no menu, but perfect for us. It is close to everything, we walked everywhere- the Riad was in the best spot. As in other reviews the Riad needs a touch up here and there as it's a bit tired around the edges so don't expect 4 star European style....none of this affected our stay which was fabulous and for the price well worth it.

We booked a 4 night stay at the Riad Fatouma in Marrakesh in March 2023. There were 6 of us, three couples. When we got to the Fatouma we were informed that our hotel would be changed to the Mandalay. Abdul came to take us through the maze of streets with our luggage and checked us in. We had a nice spacious room with a generous sized double bed and a single too. Our friends in the room next to us had 5 beds in their room! There is a big space on the roof for sitting about and sunbathing or enjoying the evening chatting to friends. There is a pool but more for just cooling in than swimming. Breakfast was good - pancakes and pastries and coffee and tea. Last day we had an omelette. The Riad is a lovely calm place in a mad bustling city and Abdul and the cook and Kasim are very helpful and friendly. Don’t expect western style luxury ie complimentary soaps, coffee, tea and kettles but do expect a warm welcome and a genuine desire to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
