White Lace Motor Inn Mackay
4.1/5107 Reviews
Hoteliery ought to be a simple business: provide a clean, quiet, and comfortable room. These are the metrics on which I judge my stay. Sadly, White Lace failed on all counts. The family room initially seemed an attractive proposition, as few other motels offer a separate room for the children, but upon entering it was clear I had made a mistake. Family rooms front the highway, and the roar of traffic was immediately evident and present all night long. This is in fact a missed opportunity, as the french doors to the balcony are an attractive feature, and all that would be required is some double glazing to reduce the noise to an acceptable level. The room itself was terribly tired and run down, with scratch and scuff marks on most surface. The impression was one of shabbiness, of corners cut, and maintenance forgone. The bedhead and side table, built affixed to the wall, appeared to have originally been constructed to fit a king mattress, but was now furnished with a queen, leaving gaps either side. In any case, the mattress was well past its use by date, offering little in padding but plenty in trampoline bounce. Beds in the second room of similar age and comfort. As a minor note, bedside lamps were supplied with incredibly bright cool-white LED bulbs, an unfortunate scourge afflicting many hotel rooms. Given that they are all about the same price, is it really that difficult to take a moment to consider the intended application and purchase a bulb of appropriate wattage and colour temperature? Overall, we did not come away feeling at all rested, which makes White Lace a poor value proposition. Active intervention from management is missing but clearly needed.

Overall the experience was good but the service in the Restaurant was pretty poor with one night having to wait a hour for my meal as they had missed my order...the 2nd night was half an hour which was a bit better but still too long for a restaurant

Temporary hotel, right next to the airport, but the soundproofing is very good, not at all noisy It’s much better than the Ibis we live in Melbourne, the service is good, there is a restaurant to eat
The Resort at Dolphin Heads

We booked through booking.com through a private entity separate from the resort but our room was in the resort. Closest to the beach, upstairs. Room was lovely, can’t really fault. The stairs closest to our room lead to the gate into pool area but is permanently locked so no entry and had to take the long way. Directions to room wasn’t well signposted but found it eventually as we had directions from unit owner. Didn’t need to go to reception so can’t comment but saw staff member on way through and they seemed nice. Beach is lovely! So close to the resort! Parking is out the front so a bit of a hike to our room. Pool is gorgeous!! Loved it! Huge! Not many chairs around though. Had a drink at bar before dinner, guy behind bar was very friendly (a little difficult to talk to but lovely) Lady in restaurant was very nice. Had to go to counter to order so no table service but food brought to table and the lady served us at table for takeaway dessert. Food took a little longer and my husbands meal came out a good five minutes before mine. But omg the food was soooo good! Definitely recommend! Would absolutely stay here again. Beautiful spot, tropical resort.
Coral Cay Resort

Have stayed at Coral Cay resort motel before and this last week for a three day business trip was not different. Great spot it is , staff were good , restaurant was good and rooms a good size and configuration with a TV for the sleeping area and a TV in the lounge room. Good computer work bench and undercover parking as well. Tariff was fair for the time of year and mid week. No complaints and is my number one stay over location in Mackay
