We attended a Charity Ball at the weekend and the previous year we didn’t stop at Shrigley Hall but decided to treat ourselves this year as it’s not the cheapest place to stay. £169 double room bed and breakfast on a special rate as we were attending an event. We didn’t book any Spa treatments but the outside pool seemed very busy and the view and golf course look fantastic. It’s a bit of a walk from the car park to the reception but you can drop bags off at the front. The path from the car park to the front does need some repairs as it’s got holes in the surface and is uneven (not a great first impression) the water from I assume the outdoor pool runs and collects on the pathway as well so negotiate the puddles at the end! Check in was smooth, balance of room paid and breakfast was booked for us. Our room was a bit dated, with a stain on the carpet, I began to think there was an issue with the shower as it took a long time for the water to run hot - well warm even with the shower on the highest setting. We were settled though in the room so didn’t ring reception as I did manage a shower and we needed to get ready for the ball. ( It was the same for hot water in the basin - so might have just been down to our location in the hotel.) We asked reception if there was a way of getting through to the suite where the ball was without going outside was told no. Clearly the lady on reception had forgotten about the rear entrance that you can use to walk through the hotel, as that’s the way several of the guests were directed! We found out about it at the end of the ball! The grounds and venue are stunning, the room where the ball was held was amazing. We asked for the table to be moved slightly as we backed onto the main walk through so we’re getting knocked etc all the time and a lady was really swift to move the table for us. Food was tasty as last year, with lovely presentation, but it was apparent that agency waiting staff were serving. The hotel was busy as there was a wedding at the weekend as well (advised by a member of staff that this was the case regarding agency staff ) service was very disjointed with food being served several minutes apart on the table - not a table at a time - completely different to the previous year - we had to ask for a starter as it hadn’t been served, well they tried to serve wrong item and then the correct item never arrived (waiter very apologetic) , mains arrived, again disjointedly (cutlery dropped down the back of the chair when table cleared but the waitress was very apologetic and these things happen - so that wasn’t the end of the world) and desserts we had to PROVE after saying and being served three times with the wrong item that panna cotta wasn’t what we had ordered to get the right thing! (Was starting to get annoyed at this point if honest, there were only two options and we’d said one wasn’t what we’d ordered several times.) Tables were cleared with drinks unfinished, half bottle of wine still l

We stayed here 1 night after flying into Manchester airport late. The GPS took us to the hotel, but we could not find out how to get into the hotel. So frustrating. There is a taxi rank outside which serves the railway station opposite, and the hotel. No where to pull up and offload luggage. No hotel parking either. At 11:00 pm, after an international flight, this was the last thing we needed. Finally, we learned we had to park in the multi-story parking lot, and drag our luggage across to the hotel. Once we were in the hotel, we were greeted by friendly staff. Our room was lovely, and bed comfortable. Breakfast was good. I have food sensitivity issues, and the manager at breakfast was very helpful in guiding me as to what I could and couldn't eat. Food was good. Nice experience despite initial confusion.

I discovered this hidden gem by accident. I had almost given up on finding a hotel that was close enough to the airport as well as to local shopping and had ac. There are only two things I have a problem with in regards to this place. Please note there is not an elevator or lift as the UK states. The other draw back is there is no way to shield the light in the bathroom area. It is hard to describe. There is a beautiful glass door to the right and left in the bath area with a sink in the middle of the space. If one has to get up to use the facilities the light being turned on glares in the face of the other one in bed. One other note is to be careful when closing the glass door. When I closed the door, my finger got closed in the door and it actually cut my finger below the cuticle. After 3 days, my finger is blue and sore. While the hotel is directly under the local airport's flight pattern, we never heard planes unless we were outside. The grounds are astounding as is the building itself. Make sure to check out the artwork throughout the place. If you like hidden staircases, watch out. The place appears to be kid friendly. There is a fabulous playground adjacent to the property. Make sure to purchase duck food for the locals. The bar, while somewhat limited in its offerings, was suitable for us. As to cost, the prices were comparable if not better than other bars/pubs we have visited.. We did not dine in the restaurant, but from what I say, the food looked amazing. The young man working reception was so very nice to help with our luggage as well as anything else we may have needed. The young ladies working in the bar were also very nice. In fact, they were so embarrassed by my asking to take their photo. They said no one had ever asked to take their photo.

I haven't even checked in or been to the hotel. I called to ask for a late check out and got a load of abuse from a really aggressive man called Horsen or Hussain or something. I told him I didnt like his tone aonhe replied ”well if you dont like my attitude or our conditions you shouldn't have made the booking in the first place”, I asked to speak with a manager to which he replied ”I am the manager so its tough”, I said that I was going to proceed in making a complaint to expedia about this to which he said ”its a non refundable reservation so your loss really”, I said that I would pop by the hotel the next day to talk about it in person to which he replied ”if you come through the doors I will call the police we dont want business of people like you that threatens to complain and give a bad review”. I think they are struggling, Gordon Ramsey its time to step in I think. OMG do not reserve here. I am trying to get a refund.

We had my sons wedding reception here and it was so relaxed and well organised. We had a wonderful drinks reception and canapés delivered by friendly, professional staff and the Chatsworth room was decorated beautifully. The sit down meal was fantastic and service was impeccable. When they were setting up the room after the meal we sat in the lounge where a pianist added to the ambiance. Again the evening buffet was magnificent and we had our own bar .and the DJ played everyone’s requests. The bride and groom were given a huge suite for 2 nights and the staff couldn’t do enough to ensure everything was perfect- which it was.

Great airport hotel. The room was clean and nice. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The included breakfast was good. The hotel isn’t really within walking distance of the airport, an Uber is £10 but the hotel is much cheaper in comparison to the Radisson inside the airport.

GGuest UserIt is a very historic castle. The room at the back should be built later. The environment in front of the hotel is very good. There is a large grassland, there are sheep, and there is a small garden. You can see the stars at night. The faucet of the wash basin is separated from cold and hot, or it is cold or hot, the water in the bath room is too small, the small bed will be rattled when it turns around, there is an activity that night or something, there is a very noisy sound of guests at 1 am. Surprisingly, I gave a bottle of red wine to the room. In addition, the mountain trail that follows the navigation is still quite thrilling.
