Hotels near LAVC Student Services Center, Los Angeles

No hot water. I am sorry to leave this note as the people who work here are very nice -- but management and ownership are not doing their job--- this hotel has no hot water on demand and they should be ashamed of themselves for booking rooms without telling people. They know they have a hot water problem and they do not tell you when booking. We could have booked somewhere else for our vacation but are paying a lot of money for a room without reliable hot water. Plus rooms are loud with noise if you are situated towards the road/highway and you will not be able to get good sleep. Be aware of this place — You will not get reliable hot water and you will have a loud room by a highway - that should be the name of this hotel you pay over 210 a night for. If they bother to reply here do not believe their I am sorry -- they are legally obligated to supply hot water at least as I have understood and they know good and well they do not have any disclaimer on their website when booking which makes them not people who are being honest. This all could have been avoided with them being up front about their hot water issue so we could have stayed somewhere else OR they could have been getting it fixed! I will take this issue up with my credit card company who have always been decent and helpful. The staff at this hotel have always been nice too, but then again they are not the problem -- the management and ownership are and the lack of services you are paying for. Pretty good, very close to Universal Studios, eating is convenient, front desk service is very good. The key is parking is free, just near the high speed, where to go is very close, and there is a Sichuan restaurant nearby is very good. Public comment can be found

The room is very clean, and the facilities downstairs are very complete. The lady at the door is very cute. There are many transportation facilities around. I didn't think of booking a motel before. But this motel is worth recommending.

It's pretty good, but I don't understand the language well. I still need to learn more English words in the future.

El Royale was a nice budget friendly hotel. It was convenient and clean. It was straight to the point hotel. They had coffee and muffins in the morning. Coffee was good and strong! The location of the hotel was great, close proximity to the freeway. Its a great hotel for if your main purpose for a trip was Universal Studio. It is close by. Close enough to walk (about 12-15 mins) to the metro station & from there you get a shuttle ride (free) to city-walk/ universal studio. It will save you greatly on parking at Universal. I like how theres little places around the hotel as well such as convenient stores like 711, drugstores, nail salon, marshalls, Michaels, Starbucks, and places to eat as well. Im not sure how safe the area is at night as I didn’t walk it, but the hotel itself felt safe. Theres not a-lot of rooms, maybe 12? Its a cottage like, private enough as it is all separated by a carport. You can park in your designated carport:garage which is convenient and free of charge (as other hotels charge!). The room is basic but comfortable, like I said straight to the point! It has its charm. Don’t expect it to be a motel 6 cus it is not and don’t expect it to he a Sheraton either. I would come back her for sure if ever I visit studio city / los angeles again. The hotel manager and Front Desk Xavier (i think thats his name) are nice and helpful.

I would give the place 3 stars, wife would give 2, thus the 2 rating. I was worried going in seeing the 1 star reviews of late. But it was better than that in my mind. Construction is continuing. While we were there, they actually demolished the front desk (was still there behind a tarp on Saturday, gone by end of day Sunday.....they were using a folding table as the front desk). Carpet in our room was still ancient. Carpet in the hallway was better. An old ice machine made a lot of noise and dripped a bit near the elevators. Furniture in room was old and chipped, but functional and clean enough. Bathroom was OK. Tons of water pressure in shower (wish we could actually turn the water pressure down a bit). Building looked OK from the outside. Breakfast and lobby areas looked OK (but were still undergoing some renovation so dusty). Breakfast was OK, but they never had apple juice available during entire stay (always said out of order). Did have cranberry and orange available). Last day they didn't have plain scrambled eggs available, only pre-made omelets with cheese (disappointing to my wife who doesn't eat cheese). Lots of other choices, both warm and cold, and make your own pancakes. One day we were sitting down to eat and staff came and put down cones and started washing the floor with some smelly water. Didn't say sorry or anything, we just got up and moved far away. Glad the air conditioner had a button to turn the fan on constant, otherwise the on and off would have been annoying at night. Still, never could get temp quite right as either too cold or too hot overnight.

The room was spacious and impeccably clean, offering a perfect retreat after a busy day. The amenities were fantastic, I truly enjoyed my experience and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and relaxing getaway!”

I really loooove this hotel. I wrote this review in 2023. :-) Robby and room look like movie cinema. They have a concept. It was not very newest style but gave me good feeling. Above all, Room condition is so good, very clean and Service is good. Best location for Universal Studio Hollywood. Definitely It takes 20 minutes to walk to Universal Studio. I really want to stay in there again.. Miss already this room.

This commented that the comments worried that the attitude of the homeowner was only fixed for one night. Later, I went to the hotel and found that the owner was very friendly. Although the Indian accent was difficult to understand, it was very enthusiastic to help us solve the problem. The breakfast was quite good, yogurt coffee, and a mint cheesecake made me very impressed. If you are in the location, you can walk from Universal Studios for ten minutes, but the road is a bit hard to find.
