Pub staff were disgustingly racist and rude towards the travelling community for no reason seen it first hand should be dam rite ashamed of themselves kept on making excuses why pub had to close but we’re still serving alcohol for non travellers it’s 2024 now this needs to stop

The service in the pub is horrific, we waited for over an hour, and nothing came. Would not come again, do not recommend. It also smells a bit iffy, overall was just not a nice experience. They were lacking on certain ingredients and we had to change our orders multiple times!

What a great place. We stayed here to visit Thursford. If you want straight lines and floors this is not for you. But spotlessly clean. Our room was very large, sloping floors, beams . A separate dressing room for clothes/cases and shoes. An en-suite bathroom. Friendly staff and a great full English breakfast. All for a very surprising price. Would I recommend it to friends and family. Yes!

We were badly let down by the previous management who didn't even let us know that they had gone into liquidation and that our booking was no longer valid. When we spoke to the new management, Izzy the new Mashageress was fantastic. Sorted out our booking and it was great. Rooms clean and tidy and large comfortable beds. Breakfast and evening meals were great. Decent size portions with good menu choices and just that little bit different/ better than the normal. Great location for exploring Norfolk. All staff were very pleasant and attentatived with nothing being too much trouble. Worth a stay? We'd stay again so must be. David & Julie, Caroline & Derek.

We ate here for Norfolk Restaurant week. Lovely food, nice atmosphere with local drinkers as well as diners, and very friendly staff. We had excellent service. The beer was good too apparently and I enjoyed a pint of draught cider. Perfect..

We went here for a great family lunch. The food was excellent with a great range and good prices. The decor is traditional, well maintained and good quality. We have stayed in the upstairs rooms before and found them comfy and well maintained.

Two night stay in this historic pilgrimage village. Staff are hard working and helpful. Breakfast is freshly cooked with very generous portions. Menus offer plenty vegetarian choices. Room was very clean. Only downside was we found the mattress to be far too firm for us - like laying on a plank. When mentioned to a member of staff she checked to see if another room would be suitable but confirmed same mattress.

Decided last moment to visit one of old haunts on return from Norwich. Black Lion had one room and Izzy did us a deal. Two hours later we were there! A few beers and some nice Provence Rose led to a lovely evening meal made from fresh and local ingredients, served by very attentive staff. Room 6 was simple, comfy and quiet. Ideal! Breakfast was excellent. The full English was not too big but all ingredients were first class and beautifully cooked with lovely service. The new owners ( since Summer 2023) are doing a great job and deserve success. Thank you.

We had a lovely meal at the black lion starting with sharing a cheese souffle which was excellent.We both had the slow cooked beef as our main which came with roasties ,3 veg,a big Yorkshire pud and gravy.This meal was really tasty.The staff were very attentive and brought us our drinks and water very quickly followed by our dinner.We didn't have pudding this time but there is always a chance to return on our next trip.Well done to the staff.
