The way we were treated and intimidated due to late check in. Wrote to Frederic Robinson in detail who are the owners of the property according to their website, they advised the pub is run by an independent and advised they are not responsible for the owners actions, but would "pass on" my letter to the person who the complaint was about. We booked two rooms at the above property for the nights of 13th and 14th July 2023 together with Dinner for 6 people on the evening of 14th July 2023. My family and I have stayed at the Red Lion on many past occasions and enjoyed the welcoming stay with the previous owner Alan however, on this occasion we need to register our complete disgust regarding the way we were treated whilst travelling to the property on the evening of 13th July 2023. Whilst driving, I received a text at 21:19 from a mobile number 07974 015XXX which requested our arrival time as check in closes at 21:00. The person who sent the text was signed off as Andrew. As I was driving (we had been on the road since 16:20 from Kent), I asked my son to call the number and explain why we were not expected to arrive until 22.45 according to our sat nav. The outburst of verbal abuse from Andrew that we received was extraordinary, telling us that it is in your terms and conditions that we arrive before 9pm, that we need to get there soon and that we were inconsiderate in arriving at that time. We tried to explain further about the traffic conditions and closed motorways, but Andrew just hung up. My son was quite speechless at the aggressive verbal abuse, so we called my wife who was at home to ask her to contact Andrew, as she had spoken to him only days before, advising we would not be there until 22:00 hours and he said the pub closed at 23:00 so should not be a problem. She also said he was a very nice and helpful man. My wife called the main telephone number 01829 760275 and this was answered by a woman. My wife explained we had been delayed and immediately before she could explain further, was told by the woman abruptly that the kitchen closed at 21:00. This is irrelevant as we did not book or require food and had never suggested otherwise. My wife attempted to calmly explain that she had spoken to Andrew a few days before and was told “that’s a lie you didn’t call yesterday”. My wife again repeated it was a few days prior not yesterday and was told abruptly “I will pass you to Andrew”. Again, my wife now received Andrews unacceptable verbal tirade and he told her to tell us not to arrive as we are far too late to be accommodated. She explained that we were racing at Oulton Park and needed to be accommodated and again, Andrew just hung up on her. Again, my wife redialled and calmly explained that we would be arriving at 22:45 and also sent an email at 21:44 to redlionlittlebud@outlook.com to further confirm our arrival time as she was concerned that we would be left without accommodation.
