Although I was l literally putting my head down for the night the staff weee friendly and approachable. I would definitely stay there again !

Excellent service, amazing dinner and breakfast!

We had paid to use the pool and have some drinks and something to eat. Sadly we left after an hour. When we arrived for our booked session at 3 pm. We were told to wait outside the hotel and form a queue. We were not allowed to have a drink in the bar whilst we were waiting for our pool session. Upon entering we were subjected to a bag search and told to go through the hotel. I had to ask a member of staff where to go as I hadn’t been before. Upon reaching the pool I was surprised how small the pool was and lack of sunloungers or comfortable seating. After purchasing a drink at the bar proceed to the terrace tables. Shortly afterwards we were told to move by a member of staff saying this area was reserved for guests staying at the hotel despite the area being completely empty. We also found that food would not be served until an hour and a half into our session. We were made to feel like second class citizens. We had paid to use the pool and were purchasing refreshments from the hotel but sadly the hotel did not feel our custom was important enough to extend to common courtesy and comfort. Safe to say we will not be returning to the hotel..

We had a junior suite for 1 night. The view out of the “field view” room was of a large green container. The side gate to the pool was accessible at the side of the room and as it was a hot night we attempted to sleep with windows open however people were stood smoking and talking next to our open windows. The wardrobe was positioned terribly so we couldn’t access it. Room and bathroom basic, needs modernising but was acceptable and we actually slept ok. Room was incredibly hot - radiators on but we turned them off and opened the windows.

Booked a classic double for one night. The bed was so uncomfortable I woke several times, as the mattress was lumpy and hard and when I sat on the edge it folded together. Someone in the next room had the TV on, so that kept us awake for a while. This room definitely needs some TLC. The sink in the bathroom was so loose, almost ready to fall off . The bath was chipped on the bottom and it had turned brown. The sloping wall over the bath was stained brown, obviously hasn’t been painted for some time. The bath panel had been repaired at some point, but the panelling didn’t meet up with the wall. There were dead flies in the ceiling light. It’s a shame, as this could be made into a lovely room, it lacks care. I have driven past this hotel so many times to visit family, and always wanted to stay, so I was given a voucher as a gift, I was so utterly disappointed. Breakfast was good, but please provide covers or lids for the milk and orange juice jugs.

What a lovely afternoon tea. Plenty of tea choice, good quality food, great portions served by friendly professional staff. Nothing was too much trouble. A delightful Sunday afternoon. Thank you.

A great Hotel with friendly, efficient staff. Especially Dee who is the "Breakfast lady", her smile and friendly greeting in the morning makes your day😀 The restaurant staff are equally welcoming and make you feel at home. And the food is great, correctly cooked and presented with style. Love the grounds, and speaking to the Robert the gardener about how he plans the flowers etc to reflect seasons is really informative. And just loved the robot he uses to clean the swimming pool ! A great place to stay and I will be going again soon.

Absolutely shocking, we had a night away for a birthday treat and the room was really poor, around the door frame the wall had so much damage half of it was hanging off and in the evening you can see the other side of the hallway through the gap around the door frame. The room is dated which I wasn’t too bothered about but the bed was honestly the worst thing we’ve ever experienced, the mattress is so worn out you lie on it and hit the base underneath, my husband actually had to sleep on the little sofa in the end as it was so ridiculously poor. I would never recommend staying here. We’ve stayed in lots of hotels over the years and drive past this one regularly which is why we tried it but for £100 a night you definitely aren’t getting that value.
