Ast Surf Hotel

Stayed here for a few days, it’s a clean and friendly environment, good food, and great service from the staff

The Staff is awesome. Great location, only thing I’d change is the linen… it’s old and felt itchy even if I slept on top.

It did not look nothin like the pictures, rooms are too small, parking area is on the street and they do not have a bar

Had a great time with Anibal. One of my favorite trips and I look forward to coming back. It was a pleasant surprised that everyone in the country was so nice. The food at the hotel was great as well.

El Salvador was not on my radar but saw an all-inclusive beginner surf deal at AST and grabbed it. Easiest vacation ever. Pickup from airport. 3 delicious meals a day (I only ate 2, was plenty). Excursion to waterfalls. Great surf instruction. It was super laid back and everyone was very accommodating. There is not much to do in La Libertad which was nice actually. Simple Central American town. Most tourists were Salvadorenos. Room right over the ocean- the sound of waves 24/7. so happy I went...

The best hotel in the area (Surf City). We came here for a destination wedding and the organizer made a mistake when booking. Jorge, the owner of AST Surf heard of the issue and took care of us. Plus his team set up a volcano tour, an ATV tour and surfing lessons. Oh and the food is amazing. Try the carpaccio and the pasta plate as both were yum! Oh, btw we stayed at 3 hotels on this trip and this was definitely the nicest one!

Now is the time to travel to El Salvador! And you cannot ask for better ambassadors then Jorge and the entire staff at AST. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The accommodations exceeded expectations in cleanliness and aesthetic. We could not stop talking about how comfortable we found the beds, linen, and pillows. We chose AST with the narrow focus of having a "learn-to-surf vacation". And ended up having so much more, mainly this authentic cultural experience. In retrospect we were grateful to have chosen La Libertad over more touristy towns close by. The locals were extremely friendly, an excellent opportunity to practice the Spanish language. We loved walking the locals' market near the hotel and finding a cold cerveza in one of the many open air establishments dotting the coastline. Or walking the beach down to the pier and inspecting the fresh catch of the day. The food was too good and too plentiful at AST to try much of the local fare but many restaurants were within walking distance of the hotel. Marcos, our surf guide, was a true gem. His knowledge and experience built confidence. I still hear his wise words, "balance and tranquilo!" His patience was remarkable. And as much as we enjoyed surfing with him, we equally enjoyed his camaraderie around the breakfast table or while he showed us the sites on afternoon excursions. He was amenable to our whims and altering plans whether it was due to weather or exhaustion : ) AST catered to an array of surf abilities as well as those that preferred other activities from volcano hikes to natural springs and waterfalls or day excursions to San Salvador. And at the end of the day you could gather and hear of everyone's adventures or find quiet in the solitude of your air conditioned room. A win win for any traveler type. In a burgeoning international tourist economy, El Salvador is sure to evolve and grow. Catch it now! And let AST guide your way!

AST and El Salvador exceeded my expectations! Jorge was accommodating to our needs and wants. He customized our surf package to create a perfect balance to our trip. We were 3 women form the states wanting to surf, see the sights, and experience the culture of a new country. The "surf house" resort had excellent beds, pillows, and generous portions of top notch food. 3 meals a day and our plates were always clean. The surf guides were supportive and encouraging. We would request Marcos again when we return....hopefully sooner than later. I would also recommend doing the waterfall tour at Tamanique which provides you an opportunity to cliff jump, swim and ride the natural rock slides. Thank you AST, we fell in love with your home land and all that it has to offer.

Girls - Watch Out for Jorge who runs things in La Paz! From my own personal experience, and from what I hear from others, he is quick to seduce his female clients, makes a bunch of empty promises - and then sticks the woman with all the bills for the expensive restaurants and hotels he suggests and enjoys before he disappears. If that works for you - have at it - but I found him to be deceitful and ultimately, super disrespectful to women. He was also 1 1/2 hours late to pick up my kids to surf - which means they sat in front of the hotel from 5:00am til 6:30am because he ‘slept thru his alarm’. The hotel/restaurant is a dump, and also the only thing in the ‘town’, which is one square block. The village is full of trash and smells like sewage. Do yourself a favor and get your guide, and your accommodations, in El Tunco!! Chicas - ¡Cuidado con Jorge que maneja las cosas en La Paz! Por mi propia experiencia personal, y por lo que escuché de otros, se apresura a seducir a sus clientas, hace un montón de promesas vacías y luego le pone a la mujer todas las facturas de los restaurantes y hoteles caros que sugiere y disfruta antes. el desaparece Si eso funciona para usted, hágalo, pero lo encontré engañoso y, en última instancia, súper irrespetuoso con las mujeres.
