Magnificent Hotel

Solo traveler here, and my stay at the Grand Hotel was absolutely fantastic! The staff were incredibly warm and helpful, always patient in assisting with any questions or issues I had. I booked a twin room, and it was super spacious, plenty of room to move around comfortably. The TV even had cartoon channels, which was a lovely, relaxing touch. The cleanliness and overall environment exceeded my expectations in every way. Highly recommend!

Overall, it's a decent budget hotel. The room was a bit worn, and the doors and locks didn't inspire much confidence :). The hotel is set back from a noisy street, which is definitely a plus. There are plenty of cafes and shops nearby. Breakfast might not be ideal for a European palate, but you can find something to eat.

The location is easy to find. The breakfast selection is rich, and the environment is lovely. If it's your first time traveling abroad, choosing this hotel will save you a lot of hassle and is highly trustworthy. The manager speaks a little Chinese, so even if your vocabulary isn't perfect, communication is still possible. There's a garden restaurant downstairs that serves all three meals. It's clean and hygienic. I had a wonderful few days; it was a memorable stay.

My stay was a terrible experience, the hotel's hygiene was completely unacceptable. When I pulled back the duvet, I saw residual hairs, and it was obvious the sheets and duvet cover hadn't been changed. The pillowcases were yellowed and stained, and the bedding had an unpleasant odor. The bathroom floor had standing water that hadn't been cleaned, the sink was covered in watermarks, and dust had accumulated in the corners. The soundproofing of the walls was almost nonexistent; I could clearly hear conversations in the hallway and doors opening and closing next door all night long. There was continuous noise even in the early hours, making it impossible to get any sleep. The staff didn't clean proactively, and even after I reported the issues, they weren't handled properly. The environment was dirty and noisy, offering extremely poor value for money. I do not recommend staying here.

I booked this hotel because it offered airport pickup, and it turned out to be a really great find! The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, a nice blend of Nepali and Western options, which I personally enjoyed. You could also order à la carte, and their momos are absolutely, incredibly delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The staff's service attitude was excellent, and their overall demeanor was very polite. They'd greet you with a polite smile and help with your luggage. The owner speaks Chinese, which made communication very easy. I contacted the owner via WeChat through Ctrip to arrange the airport pickup, and everything went smoothly! The room was very clean, and there's a garden restaurant downstairs. It's located about 340 meters from Thamel, so it's close to the bustling area yet very quiet. Downstairs, there's a convenience store that accepts Alipay, a currency exchange, and a Kailas outdoor gear store, making shopping incredibly convenient. If I ever come back to Nepal, I'll definitely choose this place again! Not a shill, haha!

Clean and hygienic, the owner is very welcoming, and the service staff all have sunny smiles. I really like it here.
