Diamonds Mapenzi Beach - All Inclusive

The room is very different from the picture. Room condition is dirty and old(the worst condition I stayed in Zanzibar) The worst thing was the attitude of reception staffs and the boss. They are too rude and disrespectful and unpleasant. Because the room is very different from the picture, I requested refund, the boss responded in rude manner and no refund. The room is rusty and dirty. The drain hole in bathroom is clogged with hair. And swimming is impossible because ebb tide. It was the worst hotel I have ever stayed. Thank you for no refund and giving me an opportunity to share my worst experience ever with whom considering Diamonds Mapenzi. I recommend you never make a reservation. Please do go other hotel.

I have been 2 weeks in Diamonds Mapenzi Beach and I will remember all the people and friendly atmosphere in the hotel. Most important for me was the service and the way how all the people worked together.. I enjoyed every day on beach there you meet Saggio :-) and other people are so open to help you. I explore the reef and the fishermen village. Its worth to take the trip together with Saggio and see local life next to the hotel. It's really worth to see all those happy kids meet the chairman of the school. The reef I also explore with the person from the beach service in red t-shirts. You fill safe with these guys outside of the hotel. I am going to come back to Zanzibar and I am big fun of this place because it's super friendly and super cool! Thank you Diamonds Mapenzi Team !

It's a beautiful place. Kids friendly zone ♡ Awesome beach view◇ Good food♡ No boring buffet. The menu sorts picky eaters, little humans! Enjoyed the free alcoholic cocktails 😉 Clean and fresh rooms☆ Customer service ❤️ My 8 - and 4-year-old children had a good time.

Arrived really late and welcome was ok but just wanted our rooms. They had put fruit and sandwiches in the room which would have been better for me had it been gluten free and the hotel was aware of this gf need. Not an issue though. Our beachfront villa smelt musty and damp as if it hadn’t been used for a while, but it had been locked up without much ventilation. After a day or so with wide open windows and patio door open, this smell disappeared. The shower grout was shockingly dirty and we mentioned this and had it deep cleaned at least three times. It ended up not perfect but better. One of the photos I took also showed that we had mushrooms growing in the room but these were removed. Location wise, we were close to the beach restaurant and on front line and we couldn’t complain about where we were with views over the ocean. Food was fine, there was always a choice although like most AI hotels, it does become a bit ‘same as before’. Victor; the executive chef offered his services to make gf food or provide gf pasta and everyday he would acknowledge me with a thumbs up or walked round the restaurant to make sure all was well. One of our party is a dessert lover and everyday she had a great choice to tempt her palate for sweet stuff. I’m not one for the entertainment that is usually provided in hotels and here was no exception. I’m sure they meant well, but it was generally loud, unfunny ( even if they thought it was ) and banal. They low point if I had to choose one was the bingo night, although it was so so bad, it almost became funny. Cleanliness wasn’t an issue anywhere ( other than in our room to start with ) and our room was cleaned well daily with fresh linen and towels provided. We’d taken gym stuff with us and the gym near reception was equipped with sufficient equipment to allow for small circuits providing it wasn’t too busy. Mention is made of the hawkers on the beach and these could be annoying, but just don’t give them a name as they keep coming back. I did venture to the sea when the tide was out and it is a long walk ( I seemed to think about 1/2 mile ) with two of the hawkers and the star fish they found in the rock pools, I don’t think I’d have found, so in my case it was worth the hassle. For its shortcomings, the positives more than outweigh them and I would return although it’s very unlikely as there are too many other places to visit. On check out day, we paid extra to keep a room on and this was another beach front villa, so we had to move four cases and all our hand luggage from our original rooms. This room unfortunately had a leaky air con machine and we had to use towels from the gym to soak water up from the floor in the room.

Really good quality hotel. Rooms and all hotel area really clean. Nice private beach.Great ocean view from hotel lobby and restaurant. Food served is really tasteful. Great variety of meals. Really friendly and helpful personel. life shows almost every evening including local dances. Great animation team. We enjoyed a lot all the hotel animations. Especially service of Saggio who organize also local walk trips to Fish village and local school and also trip to rafa. That was amazing experience of true Zanzibar. He is great animator and shares a lot of interesting and useful information about village. He also cares about guests. We are do happy we had a chance to participate on activities organizer by him. We rocommend this hotel.

What a place, So Beautiful. You do need to be mobile as there are lots of steps. We had an amazing time there everything was just perfect. The food was amazing. Everything and everywhere was so clean. Staff lovely could not do enough for you. We would definitely return here.

This hotel is a disaster. The beach has a huge tidal reach and it's coral out there. The usable time when the tide is in is a couple of hours a day. Hawkers patrol the beach, so expect constant harassment. The hotel service is terrible, as is the food. The pool and table tennis has broken equipment. Hotel rooms don't get cleaned properly, and they'll charge $10 a day per person tax when you check out.

Super attentive staff , a total different world to enter when you get into the hotel area. Looks like a big tribal homeplace . Internet not available at all places but come on, you are here to relax and to technologically detox … so no problem here. Kitchen was of high class ! Especially sea food was amazing. Rooms in old colony style. Exactly my taste. A bit minus is that as soon as you leave the hotel perimeter and enter the Public beach a lot of locals try to sell you their stuff. Also water very dirty and not clear. Water was amazingly warm and not refreshing :)

We had a wonderful 7-night stay at Diamonds Mapenzi Beach. The spacious rooms were cleaned twice a day, and the hotel's beauty was complemented by the incredibly helpful and friendly staff, from Bali to gardeners. The food was tasty, though occasionally a bit cold, and the beach could use occasional algae cleanup. Despite these minor points, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to return.
