Old Drift Lodge

Outstanding stay at this beautiful lodge! From the location, accommodation, staff, rangers and the food. We were blown away by this very special place… a truly memorable place. Jeremiah our lovely Ranger was knowledgeable and mindful of safety at all times, pointing out super interesting things along the way, whether boat trip or jeep safari. I can honestly say that the food was incredible, I’ve travelled “a lot” and this was definitely right up there with the best… breakfast, lunch and dinner all beautifully presented by the chef and tasting even better! All served with a smile 😊 Fenny (customer relations?) looked after our every request and nothing was too much trouble. We even had a visit to our garden from the whole herd of elephants that live within the Zambezi National park… Memories that will last a lifetime time! This was the most amazing, unforgettable Bucket-List safari of our lives. Everything about the four days that we spent at Old Drift Lodge was divine and was an absolutely wonderful experience. The setting and design of the lodges is superb. I mean, where will you going to sit at the restaurant, and watch the elephants graze right next to the restaurant. The river view rooms are extremely luxurious and so comfortable. One of my personal highlights was the outdoor bath, I took a bubble bath while the sunset in the background and a glass of champagne in hand! The food are excellent, our packages include everything, all food and drinks including alcohol – to be honest, we were disappointed in the open bar, as there is not a very large selection to choose from, especially if you love a good wine with your food. You have the option of a boat and game drive safaris twice a day, also a bush walk. The sunset boat cruises was special. Our guide, named JB were incredibly knowledgeable and skilled. He took us on the Victoria Falls trip, he shared his knowledge and interesting facts regarding the falls, as well as the Zimbabweans culture with us. He really went out of his way to make sure we have a great and pleasant experience. JB is such a kind person, he left footprints in our hearts. We cannot exclude the other staff, as they were friendly and helpful at all times. They go out of their way to make it a pleasant stay for you. One day we couldn't get to the restaurant because there was a herd of elephants in our way, after a phone call to reception, they sent the ranger with the boat to pick us up in front of our room and took us to the restaurant. They prepared a beautiful romantic able for us, the night of our anniversary. Unfortunately we couldn’t sleep in our outside Star suite, on this night, cause of the weather. I want to give a lot of credit to Wilma Griffith from Wild Horizon, she handled our entire booking, from accommodation, zip-lining, canopy tours and the helicopter trip. Everything went perfectly, from our pick-up at the airport, till the day we return. She is really a star! All of the service was offered with low key attention to detail and wonderful African charm. It was really a sad goodbye, as the staff greet you personally, they waive as you drove off. We cannot recommend this place enough and would be back there in an instant if we could.

What an amazing time I had staying at ODL. From the moment I arrived, managers, assistant managers and staff all welcomed me. Staff with a welcome drink and another staff with a warm, clean face towel. Immediately, I was briefed and toured the beautiful lodge. My tented lodge was nicely decorated. Everything is so clean and comfy. Chef Gugu, Chef Amos and Chef Morris created scrumptious breakfast, lunch and dinner. They also mingle with the guests and ensure everyone was ok. Farrai, Amanda and another Assistant manager, all checked on me and ensured I’m having a nice time. Deon, Mhta, Sthu and all the other staff were equally great. There is no shortage of attentiveness, professionalism and kindness. They all have a smile on their face. Stephen, my guide and driver did an awesome job. I had such a memorable time seeing all the animals. Thanks to him, my pictures turn out great. He is so patient and knowledgeable. Hilal and Irene are the managers who ensured the lodge is meeting the expectations of the guests. What a nice place for me to celebrate my epic birthday.

Old Drift Lodge was the perfect start to our family Africa trip. The accommodations were superior, including outdoor shower, tub and plunge pool. The food was delicious and management and staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Our guides, Fanuel and Richard were outstanding, spotting hyenas, elephants, zebras, giraffes and the mighty dung beetle in the bush, and on our river safaris hippos, crocodiles, baboons and more. The included tour of Victoria Falls and meal at the Lookout Cafe were another highlight. 5 Stars!

We loved this family trip. We had a luxury family tent and it was beautiful, spacious and equipped with 2 bathrooms and AC. The small plunge pool was perfect for cooling off in the late afternoon sun. Meeting the elephants was a highlight for our family but all of our activities were fun for the entire family. Marshall was our main liaison and he was exceptional! We were even gifted elephant ornaments on Xmas morning.

It’s the perfect location. Animals are literally outside your door - both land and water animals! Sunrise & sunset cruises were fabulous, as well as the safari rides. Service & food were both exceptional. We really enjoyed our stay, Highly recommend.
