Granny Mouse is a lovely country hotel. Fortunately there were no weddings nor functions during our stay so we had a relaxing, peaceful stay. Our room had wonderful views over the rolling hills and was relatively private. The meals were very good and the choice was sufficient for a three night stay, Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our Spa treatment was exceptional professionally completed by friendly caring staff. Our only downside was not being able to use the log burner as it was still cold at nights.

This was our first time here, my boyfriend and I went for aromatherapy massages and were very impressed! They showed us to the change room where there were gowns and slippers waiting for us and once inside the room the ladies that massaged us were very professional, always asking if the pressure was good and if we were comfortable. They even had hot blankets on under the towel so you don’t get cold! They let us choose the oil they massaged us with which i appreciated! An hour is definitely not long enough! We will have to come back another time for a spa package as their prices are very reasonable. They have lovely grounds that you can browse from the parking area (even a little place to take photos that says you’ve been to Granny Mouse) Definitely recommend visiting - Whether its for a stay, spa or to eat at their restaurant!

Granny Mouse, even before we stayed at the amazing Country House we were anticipating a wonderful stay, we were wrong it was so much more than wonderful it was off the charts in ultimate hospitality from every member of staff, from checking in to checking out the staff are truly professional, caring, friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. Our gorgeous bedroom No 2 was simply a delight, beautiful in decor, super clean, a lovely balcony overlooking natural fields. The main building is such a delight of cosy rooms all beautifully decorated, it was decorated for Christmas and they were so lovely especially for a Christmas person like me. The breakfasts are so tasty and the choices are for everyone. The fine dining restaurant is a delight the setting is beautiful and the food exquisitely cooked and presented. I can’t remember my husband ever being unwell on holiday except he was here, we were having dinner and he said he had to leave due to a pain in his side and was gasping, I called the waitress to say I was taking hubby to our room, immediately Lucky was in action, she would come with us she helped me make him comfortable and said she would make a prayer for him, which she did. As I had left the restaurant leaving things on my return the Receptionist asked how my husband was and that they had informed the Manager and to call for absolutely anything, next day feeling a lot better we went to breakfast, every member of Staff on duty came to ask, the Receptionist informed us that Lucky had stayed until 01:45 in the morning just to make sure my husband was ok, we asked her why she told us simply she wanted too. Many hotels are rated on beds, service, and views, there is not a rating for Care it comes from a hotel management team training staff about guests individual needs and for everyone at Granny Mouse They Are Simply A Caring Team Of Exceptional Staff. Would we visit again ? We Will. Everyone should experience a stay at Granny Mouse

Still a nice place to stay. Rooms with a fire place and a free stocked mini bar. Reception staff is very welcoming and breakfast is very nice, mostly hot breakfast to order. The restaurant serves good food. My vegetable curry was a little too spicy for me.

We stopped over here on our way to the coast. Truly beautiful property. Atmosphere and setting very romantic. But the service in the dining room was appaling. After waiting for more than 40 minutes for my hot breakfast - eggs benedict and making 5 enquiries we finally just left. This made the whole experience disappointing. Management really need to pay attention to improving service in the kitchen as a slack attitude is currently prevalent.

Stopped over for some afternoon tea on our way to Umhlanga. Great location and country feel. It's a pity they don't have public wifi in the common areas ie restaurants. I couldn't catch up on emails while enjoying my afternoon tea. I will go back and spend a weekend there.

A lovely country hotel. We were lucky as there were no weddings nor functions during our stay so we had a relaxing, peaceful stay. We had a deluxe room which had wonderful views over the rolling hills of Balgowan. Furniture in the main lounges was a bit outdated but this shabby-chic style goes so nicely with the "country" feel of this grand old lady. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely go back.

Arrival. Very easy to locate, full marks to the wonderful security man at the front, he is the first person you meet and was so welcoming. Reception staff were lovely and helpful. Room. Had a garden room which was very large, definitely could do with some updating though. I do not understand why when a hotel is very quiet they fill rooms next to each other though, could hear the next rooms television. Hardly any plugs and a hairdryer that did not fit in any of them and was nowhere near the mirror. Adapter plugs sorted with reception. Food. Both vegetarian, plenty of choice at dinner the portions were huge, hot and tasty. Many staff on duty Saturday night, all very pleasant but they seemed to lack direction. Breakfast, reasonable continental, lots of hot options again huge and cooked freshly. One couple sat outside but were ‘ambushed’ by the monkeys, the staff should definitely have advised against this, they also did not help when the couple had to move inside. This hotel is very pleasant, with a bit more attention to detail could be excellent although all the staff were super.

We stayed here in early September for our 10th Anniversary, and was disappointed, to say the least - Honestly wish I chose another place in the Midlands. The rooms and bathroom need updating, everything looks very tired. The Bistro restaurant is only good for burgers, the breakfasts are mediocre, the "buffet" is ok, and the hot breakfast is so small. On the 1st day we arrived, we had lunch at the Bistro, and we decided on burgers, which were amazing - 5 stars. We assumed that since the burgers were so good the rest of the food would be too and so we booked for supper, we were so disappointed and left hungry. I had the lamb - which I specifically asked for it to be well done - it came medium and tasted horrible - the "crust" had no taste, and the ratatouille was beyond bland. My husband had the oxtail on recommendation, and he didn't even finish half - the sauce it came in was terrible. We decided to get dessert, hoping that it would be better, but was left with a literal bad taste in our mouths, the ice cream that it was served with, tasted like medicine. We didn't eat at the Bistro again for the rest of our stay. The spa was great - the ladies where amazing. The staff at Granny Mouse where good, no issues there.
