Stayed for one night on a stopover from FL to PA. A little out of my budget, but it has an outdoor pool which is what I wanted. There’s tabletop shuffleboard in the lobby area and a pool table. And giant Jenga. We were able to check in at 1pm. Dove toiletries in the bathroom, but tiny vanity. Upon checkin, I was told to park in the back bc there’s a door that leads right to the elevators. Well there’s steps inside that door, which was not conducive to my big rolling cooler and luggage and children. We only had 2 towels in a room for 4, so had to get more at front. There’s plenty of parking in the big lot on the side, which has flat access to the automatic lobby doors. Breakfast was more than I expected! Pancake maker, bacon, eggs, sausage, bagels, cinnamon rolls, muffins, coffee, tea, juice. Probably more that I’m forgetting. We filled up and didn’t need to eat on our 5-hour drive to our next hotel. I had a 1am wake up for my drive up there; so I was asleep by 7:30. Slept for about 11 hours, so the beds must be comfy. I did keep hearing noises that sounded like they were coming from the pool (we had a pool-view room), but must have been another room as the pool was empty. I would stay again when in the area if I wanted an outdoor pool. If no pool preference, I would stay somewhere cheaper, but I’m not picky (just need a clean bed).

The second stay, last year to the United States waiting for boarding is also the hotel here, this hotel is very close to the airport, there are a lot of food around in the evening, the environment is good, there is breakfast at 6:00 in the morning and the car. If you wait for the transfer, this is very cost-effective.

I drove 4 hours to this hotel, and they cancelled my booking not long before i got there, and my room was given away. I received an email 30 minutes before I got there, which I clearly didn’t see since I was driving… The front desk clerk was completely rude and had a terrible attitude. He didn’t have a name tag on (probably for a reason) so I didn’t get his name. The email said they possibly had another room to offer me. The desk guy didn’t even look, said they’re sold out and I’m out of luck. No apology, or “sorry for the inconvenience”, help finding a new room, AND I even asked to use the restroom (a locked single use restroom) because I had been driving for hours and really had to use the bathroom and he wouldn’t even let me use it! So they cancelled my booking, no reason given, no “sorry”, AND THIS MAN WHO WORKS IN HOSPITALITY WOULDNT EVEN LET ME USE THE RESTROOM after all that. Treated me as if I’m not even human, just some scum on his shoe. I would never try to stay here again.
Holiday Inn Express Richmond Airport

As Diamond Elite members of IHG, we travel lots. We've actually stayed at this hotel many times, since it is so close to the Richmond airport. The staff is wonderful and enjoy working together. They treat us well and usually give us an upgrade because of our status. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because this time the hotel seemed to be behind on maintenance. (Our house is also behind on maintenance right after the holidays, so we understand. However, this is a business, and the fees/points are rather expensive.) The blinds in the suites are operated by a device on the wall. However, it did not work in our first room and also in the second room they moved us too. At that point we didn't want to move again, so we just put up with it. There was no way to manually operate the blinds as a backup. There was no maintenance staff on the property to fix this situation. One of the TVs didn't work due to a power outage, but they told us how to fix it, and their directions worked. We will stay there again since it is close to the airport and the staff is so nice.
The Westin Richmond

I recently stayed at the Westin in Richmond VA as the location chosen by the family/ church for my niece's funeral. Although many of the staff member were very empathetic and supportive during our time of bereavement, Matthew was very exceptional in trying to provide the extra personal interaction that exceeded the normal experience. As an Marriott Ambassador member, I have travelled rather extensively and therefore am aware of the standards expected. His kindness and attentiveness to detail and service made this difficult time of bereavement much easier to bear. I appreciate also the accomodating flexibility of the other members of the staff as well. I will return again.
