What an extraordinary experience! This hotel has the most spectacular views of the rainforest. The staff was the most accommodating, and the food delicious. The favorite experience was the whitewater rafting, which was expertly handled. The mountain and forest hikes were beautiful, and our guides knowledgeable and always quick to answer questions.

My wife and I celebrated our 34th anniversary at Ecolirio Hotel and were so impressed with the staff that when we arrived our suite was beautifully decorated with hearts and a bottle of wine. The location of the property among the jungle was so refreshing and exhilarating. The staff was so friendly and accommodating, starting with Dixi and Manrique in the reception lobby who made the arrangement for our suite. We were also very pleased with Sergio for arranging the tours and taking time to take us to a pharmacy nearby. We also enjoyed a wonderful horseback riding tour with Dennys and Alexander, two brothers that are well experienced and are native to the area. We highly recommend Ecolirios Hotel.

This is the most beautiful hotel and room I've ever seen. There is clear glass throughout the room, private balcony with a firepit, outdoor shower. There are beautiful views from every angle. The service is fabulous, they met us as we pulled in and Dixie made sure we had everything we needed. The food was amazing and Sergio even arranged for us to take breakfast to go as we had an early departure. There are several places to take beautiful walks/hikes. There is a 30 minute hike through the woods to a small waterfall. Definitely recommend a 4 wheel drive as the other reviews are accurate that it's a 30 minute drive on a bumpy dirt road to reach the property. There is a large gate with a guard to greet you. Highly recommend this oasis!

We had an absolute amazing time at Ecolirios. From the minute we got there up until the second we left we were amazed at how beautiful and peaceful it was. We went for a total of 7 days and each day was better than the next. Food: amazing food and great selection at the restaurant. Manuel was awesome each night and always made sure we were taken care of. House: our house had an gorgeous view looking out onto a waterfall. Each night we slept like a baby. Activities: we went on just about all the tours and most were lead by Denis who was so knowledgeable and friendly. Each tour we went on blew our minds and never disappointed. We truly enjoyed ourselves. Staff: EVERYONE at Ecolirios were nothing but fantastic and made sure we were well taken care of during our entire stay. Thank youuu!!! Recommendation: Definitely get a 4x4. The road getting there surprised us but it was more than worth it. Bring closed toe shoes good for hiking if you want to do any of the waterfalls or walks.

Beautiful surroundings and cozy cabins. The staff was very friendly. We only stayed one night and did not have time to explore the area any closer, but if you are a nature lover this is definitely the spot to be. On the downside it should be mentioned that the road to the property is about 11 km of rather rough gravel. While a 4WD is not strictly necessary (the hotel said that any car would do) I would not not recommend going there in a smaller sedan or similar, especially not in the rainy season.

A gorgeous remote and small hotel, completely in the rainforest and private. A very intimate and loving experience for a solo retreat or couples or families alike.

Ecolirious is a true tropical paradise hidden within the mountain jungles of Costa Rica. The setting is breathtaking with picture worthy scenery at every turn. The accomodations are comfortable and luxurious with care taken to respect the natural environment. The onsite restaraunt is wonderful and it's staff most eager to please. We stayed in Mariposa, a 2 BR villa perched on a mountainside with all the comforts of home but so much better! From the front of the house we could see a sliver of the Caribbean ocean across the plains and from the rear we could enjoy the sights of the jungle with Howler monkeys in the trees and toucans flying overhead. A waterfall behind the house provided our background for napping in the porch hammock. Our activities included hiking with a naturalist, bird-watching, a cooking class, grinding sugar cane, and visiting a coffee plantation. In addition there was plenty of time for relaxing, reading and massages at the spa.

First and foremost I do want to say that Dixi the concierge who assisted us checking us in and was dealing with us was lovely couldn't have been more helpful. She really is a credit to the resort. The grounds itself are huge and clearly are very well taken care of and there is an awful lot of care and money being put into this resort. Unfortunately, when we arrived we had to wait for the very large looming gates to be opened by an armed guard. This was pretty disconcerting considering it took a good 40 minutes of driving an extremely bumpy road to get there, so to see such large gates locked and a security guard with a gun immediately put us on edge. Check in was a breeze, however, looking at the beautiful bar and restaurant area thinking we could perhaps enjoy the scenery with a nice glass of wine was immediately shot down when we were told that the restaurant was only open for 1.5hrs for breakfast, lunch and dinner and when we make the reservation for the time we intend to each for each meal, we also need to choose what we will be eating (so for example at breakfast we will need to know what we want for dinner and at dinner what we will want for breakfast the next morning etc.). The room itself was a bit of a hike away from the restaurant and reception area, so we had to drive to it. We were told that we couldn't plug anything in such as a hairdryer due to the solar panels and if I wanted to dry my hair Dixi would get me a battery operated hairdryer. Whilst we waited for her to return we looked at the prices on the food and spa menus and saw that the cost of meals and spa services were literally about double that of everywhere else we had stayed, and we had stayed at five star resorts, so we were pretty dismayed. The room had an exceptionally strong odor of mold and the bed itself was damp. When Dixi returned we explained our discomfort and she immediately tried to rectify it. She offered us the next room but when we went in, candles had been lit all around and a room fragrance had been sprayed in an effort to hide the smell of the dampness. We decided that since we had such a wonderful experience in other resorts that we didn't want to settle for less than that on the last several days of our trip and we thanked Dixi and said we would leave. She did offer us an upgrade but acknowledged that the room would still be the same. When we tried to leave we had to wait several minutes for the armed guard to appear to unpadlock the gate. We had stayed at another resort which was similar in that it was open to the elements with no A/C and in the middle of the rainforest but because it was constantly full with guests there was no smell or dampness to any of their linens as they were constantly being changed. I suspect because the resort is so out of the way and not in a tourist town or close to anything that draws people, they perhaps are not at full capacity all the time which is why the rooms and beds have this smell and damp feel

Starting even before this day, it was a very positive experience. The hotel communicated with us using ‎WhatsApp prior to arrival so they would know when to expect us and get our dinner orders. Everything a small order and local so they want to know these things before you arrive. Communication was excellent. The staff was all amazing from checkin to dinner to experiences. We were able to do the horseback riding experience with Dennis. She has so much knowledge of the area since he’s grown up there. It was so friendly and patient with us. We also had a wonderful massages in the most Idealic area at the rainforest spa. I would highly recommend anyone interested in staying here if they want a beautiful place that’s absolutely serene. The grounds were so well taken care of and it was such a treat just to be able to walk around and explore. As everyone else is noted, you do need a 4 x 4 to get to the location, the drive is a bit rough, but totally worth it
